4.5 stars. Model Ciara Kelly wakes up in a hospital but she remembers nothing of the weeks she had been missing. The only clue she had were the words carved into her skin. The police think that she has been the victim of the Cutter, a serial killer who has already murdered 3 women.

Ciara's life has now been changed completely. She has lost her looks, rich boyfriend and her glamorous lifestyle. She has now returned to her hometown and is living with her sister and has new career, doing the makeup in a funeral parlour. Now her memory seems to be slowly returning, Ciara's sister accidentally tells someone of this. Will the Cutter set out to find her?

I had no idea while reading this book who the Cutter was. I would compare it to finding a needle in a haystack as we are diverted from the truth often. This novel is so well written that I had my heart in my mouth at times. Ciara is such a strong character, the storyline would not have worked otherwise. A definite must read.

I would like to thank NetGalley, Lansen Publishing and the author M.C Domovitch for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

She had it all, beauty, a wealthy boyfriend, a successful modeling career and life was nearly perfect, until she lost it all at the end of the Cutter’s blade. Ciara awoke in a hospital bed, only to find she had not only lost weeks of her life to amnesia, but those weeks were as a captive of a twisted serial killer and she was “lucky,” she was the one who got away. Ciara did not get away unscathed, she was broken, battered and her looks had been stolen by the heinous scars that were carved into her body and now she has lost her boyfriend. She did, however, gain something that may serve her well, if she can just grasp the reality of it!

With only her sister to lean on, she moves across the country to Seattle to heal, recreate herself and try to move on, knowing the monster is still out there, and he may find her again to finish what he started. Only her sister knew her memory was returning, and the slip she made to the wrong person has put Ciara back into the crosshairs of the Cutter, who is determined to finish what he started. As Ciara’s life once again becomes a terrifying nightmare, she has no one to trust, no one to help and a growing suspicion that the killer was not running the show, but merely a puppet being controlled by someone she may know.

Do you like to feel so smart by figuring out who the villains are? Good luck with this one as M.C. Domovitch tosses out clues like breadcrumbs in the woods! SCAR TISSUE is one of those suspense-filled reads that defies to be unraveled until the author is ready! Far from a plastic doll or a shrinking violet, Ciara becomes a woman of grit when the odds are stacked against her. No, she is not an avenging angel now, she is, however internally strong and she may not even truly see it, herself. Her ex-boyfriend’s family could be the poster children for the words dysfunctional, self-centered, conniving, well, you get the picture. Clearly money cannot buy humanity. This is Ciara’s story, her journey, her tale of fear, danger and leaving the woman she was behind for a much better version. Now, if only she could learn to trust and love again.

Cover to cover suspense! The shadowed villain, the double-crosses, the lies, they are all here and M.C. Domovitch has woven a dark tale that will keep you guessing the entire time! I changed my mind three times throughout this tale, and yep, I was still wrong!

Ciara Kelly, a successful model, is abducted, held for weeks while being tortured by a man the media now calls The Cutter. He likes using a knife and carving words into womens' flesh. Ciara is not his first victim ... nor will she be the last.

Somehow Ciara escapes and she wakes up in a hospital. She remembers nothing of her lost time. In order to protect her, the police and her doctor give a press conference stating that she has no memory and the loss is permanent.

Ciera returns to her home town and moves in with her sister. When her sister tells someone that maybe Ciara's memory is returning, the Cutter comes after her again.

Ciara finds herself running from the killer, running from the police.

Fast-paced action. Very suspenseful situations. Lots of suspects. Killer is really nasty. I had an inkling who the killer was, but that didn't distract from the story. Story line was well thought out with definitive character development.

A New York model is kidnapped and tortured but manages to escape. In a coma for days when she wakes she cannot remember anything. Leaving her old life behind she moves in with her sister and her sister lets it slip that she may be remembering what had happened to her. She begins a new life and when she touches a corpse she can see their last moments and thoughts which scares her because her grandmother had always been alittle fey. Then the attacks on her life begin again and she goes on the run back to New York disguised as a murder victim she has taken for her new identity. Can she discover who is trying to kill her before they succeed. Great read. I would like to thank the Publisher and Net Galley for the chance to read this ARC.

This book was a hole lot better then I thought it was going to be, right from the start it had me hooked and pulled in to the story ,so much so that that I had to keep reading , just could not stop reading even if I wanted to, it mad you feel every thing that Ciara went though , plus it keeps you guessing on who would want Ciara out of the way , this is a must read ,once again I have to say that did its job so well that it kept me pulled in to the story to the ever end,and kept me guessing though out the story because of the conflicting clues , plus I liked how it was told though out the story. With that said would love to say thinks to Netgalley for once again giving me a chance at reading a really great book, in a change for my 100% honest opinion,

I am a bit mixed on this one. I liked the premise quite a bit and the main character Ciara, but I like to be surprised by the mystery in a thriller and I had almost all of the whodunit figured out which was a bit disappointing. There were some misdirects tossed in that I was hoping would lead to a different villain so I could be caught by surprise but that never happened. Also there were a few too many coincidences within the plot and characters that rang a bit false and I didn't think needed to be there. On the positive side and why I ultimately ended up liking it--the story moved well, the plot and pacing kept me interested and it was a quick read. The ending and the slightly paranormal spin to part of the story seemed like it could be setting up for another book with the main character and I would definitely give it a try.

Note: I was given an e-book ARC from the publisher via NetGalley. I was not compensated for my review and my thoughts and opinions are my own.

Model Ciara Kelly woke up in a hospital with no memory of what happened. As the pieces of what happened to her while she was missing are filled in, Ciara knows one thing she will never model again. Starting life over with her sister in Washington, Ciara finds a new career path doing the makeup on those who have lost their lives at a funeral home. This new job is surprising to Ciara, as she likes it, but it is triggering memories of what happened as well as a few other things that Ciara can't explain. When the people who had hurt her find out her memory is coming back, Ciara is in danger again, but this time will she be able to survive?

Great story with a unique plot line. I thought Ciara was a strong woman who doesn't quite realize how strong she is, which makes her more likeable. Cat and mouse suspense from page one, great for a weekend read.

What had she done to deserve this? Some underwear modeling, nothing more risqué than that. Had she brought this upon herself by attracting undue attention to her body? The idea was too awful to contemplate. She threw the compact back in the drawer and huddled under the blanket, in tears. What had that monster done to her? She couldn’t remember any of it, but rather than make what happened easier to accept, that made it worse. Her imagination was filling in the blank with silent screen images of herself being defiled in every imaginable way.

Life is precious. Life is special. Life is short. Life…can be taken. Domovitch takes her characters and exposes raw fear as well as twisted desire in her story, Scar Tissue. This first installment is the beginning of an absolutely riveting series within the crime fiction genre. She has a way of enthralling her readers with the story of a girl, the victim of a merciless sociopath, whose greatest desire is mutilation.

Ciara Kelly is alive…after being tortured and hit by a car in an attempt to escape. Being alive—it comes at a price though. This sociopath only has eyes for her, a beautiful model in the big city. But…when she gets away, it is only a matter of time before getting caught. Ending up in the hospital with no memory or recollection of the past few weeks, Ciara’s sister finally persuades her to move on with her life. A new state, a new name, a new career. How would anyone even know where to look for her? After her sister’s accidental slip about Ciara’s memory, her life is changed within the blink of an eye and that fear is ever present again. She can’t hide—her head will always have a target on it. When she finds her sister dead, she is forced to run again…always running but there is one thing that makes her stop. Ciara Kelly doesn’t have anyone else to help her…except for the police. The police that stopped searching for her killer, the police who sat outside of her front door while her sister was murdered. No, Ciara doesn’t have anyone who can protect her from this monster…and she knows that this time if he gets his hands on her…he will kill her.

Domovitch does a superb job with character development. Her characters have strong emotional backgrounds and the plot, while slightly predictable—is still very much creative and entertaining. This story is a fast-paced novel, which makes it very easy to read. The grammatical and spelling content are both fine, it won’t prevent the reader from enjoyment. If you are interested in crime fiction and suspense novels, this first installment is a must read.

I was given this book for an honest review.

5 stars.

I really enjoyed this book, to tell you how much I did enjoy it; I'll give you a little background on me. I work the graveyard shift and I get an hour lunch. I have to tell you this is the first book that I actually took to work and wanted to know what was going to happen next and couldn't wait. It had the perfect amount of angst, mystery, twists and turns, romance and family drama. Not one thing out weighed the other in this book and I was completely engrossed in it throughout the book. There is a bit of heavy subject matter, but nothing that they go into detail in the book about. I would say it was paced out exactly how you would want a book. This story didn't happen overnight, didn't happen in months it took years and it makes the book develop perfectly in my opinion. The characters in this book make you want to know more from the main characters, to the family members, to the officers, you always want to want more. I loved this book and this author was great. I like how it took you to other states throughout the book and that it always kept you in suspense. When you thought you knew who it was, another piece of the puzzle falls and you are trying to guess again. The characters were developed and you understood how they felt during the book. The only thing I had to get use to was it was not all in first person, it jumped around and I read a lot of first person books, but when I got the feel of the book it flowed very smoothly.

I'm gonna give a brief summary of the book, but will not give you much because this a must read book. Ciera is running for her life, her attacker is right behind her, she doesn't know what to do. She finds a highway and gets hit by a car. Waking up in the hospital, she has lost her memory of what happened to her. But she has the scars to prove it. With no modeling career any more, she moves into her sisters house and tries to start a new life. The never found her kidnapper, and she never really feels safe, but when people end up dying near her, she knows he's trying to find her again. But who is he, and how will she know when she has no memory of what happened to her.

Great author. Excellent Book. Recommendations all around for this author. I can't wait to dive into another book, because this is one of the best story telling books I have read in a very long time. I love finding new authors and this one will be at the top of my authors of must read

In Scar Tissue (CreateSpace 2017), first in MC Domovich's two-book Mindsight series, Ciara Kelly, a successful fashion model on her way to supermodel status, is kidnapped and tortured by a madman who carves profanity into her skin. She finally escapes only to be run down by a car and end up in a weeks-long coma. When she finally awakens, she can't remember anything that happened after the completion of her final photo shoot. Her physicians have no idea if or when she might recover her memory, but do note that she has unusual activity in a normally quiet part of the brain. Without her memories, the police can't track down her torturer and Ciara starts a new life as a cosmetician for a mortuary, far from New York where it happens. What she hoped would be a peaceful separation from the horror she experienced ends when she accidentally touches a dead child and relives her last moments in full detail. Concurrently, she begins to remember what happened during her captivity. Getting her memory back is not something the torturer will allow so she again must flee, using every cerebral and physical skill she has to stay at least a step ahead of the man who now wants to murder her.

This is a clever, story as much about the hearts and minds of those involved as it is her flight to freedom. And it has a zinger of an ending you won't want to miss. This is well-recommended for those who like murder mystery mixed with a dab of romance and a touch of the paranormal.

How could I resist reading this after catching a glimpse of that cover and sampling the blurb. I do love a good mystery. Add in some thrills and suspense and it’s all good.

Ciara wakes up in intensive care with no memory of what happened to her. Why did someone attack her? Who did it? She doesn’t have a clue.

After getting over the shock, she explores her options. Then she begins her mission. Find out who did this. Exact revenge.

I simplified the story. So much happens. Saying anything more would be spoiling it and we can’t have that.

I love books like this. The author turns you inside out as you empathize with the heroine. And you love to hate the two-faced losers and those who should, but don’t, stand by her.

And when Ciara gets cranked up, it’s nonstop suspense until the very end. Lots of surprises in store for you. You can probably guess some of what will happen, but the author doesn’t make everything obvious. There are some really good twists too.

Once you begin this book, you’ll quickly be sucked in. It has a riveting plot. A great cast of characters. And plenty of mystery to keep you intrigued.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. I really enjoyed this book. Even though it's pretty easy to tell who the "serial killer" is, it doesn't take away from the action, which is pretty constant, or the romance factor towards the end. I really liked the main character, Ciara and the book was very well done. All in all, the fast moving book was a pleasure to read. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

Ciara wakes in hospital with no memory of what had happened to her or why she's there. The police tell her she had been rapped and tortured by a man they call the cutter and is lucky to be alive as he is known to have murdered some woman. The last she can remember is being at a photo shoot where she was a top model, after that nothing. The cutter has carved words in to her body and for her own protection the police tell the press she has amnesia and it's looking like it will never come back.
She has now not only lost the job she enjoyed but also her wealthy boyfriend who doesn't seem to want to know her any more
The police try to protect her but she has to go on the run as the cutter seems to be hot on her trail. Even after changing her name and appearance she doesn't feel safe until one day the cutter grabs her again. Will she get out alive or will she be tortured once again and this time killed once he has finished with her.
This book kept me hooked and I can't wait for the next book to come out.

Ciara Kelly wakes up from a coma to find her memory of the last few weeks is gone. She had been held captive and tortured by a killer named The Cutter. She tries to get on with her life, moving in with her sister only to find she is being hunted and people around her are being killed. The Cutter wants her back. She goes on the run under an assumed identity and once again, is found. She doesn't know who to trust only that someone close to her may be involved.

This was a fast, suspenseful read. I did figure out who The Cutter was pretty early on, but that was okay, I wanted to find out how things were going to play out.

Things that go bump in the night will have nothing on this book!

I really didn't know what I was expecting when I got this book. A little scary here and there and the heroine with wounds physical and mental, but saved at the end. No, this is not for the faint of heart. The villain is truly bad and has no redeeming characteristics. The heroine is made of sturdy stuff to survive what she went through. Not to mention the ESP for want of another definition. Read this book in the daylight. You will love it! I did!

I really liked this book it didn't click for me until more than 80% through the book (don't want to spoil it for anyone). When I read the blurb it sounded thrilling to me and I was not disappointed. Ciara was very real in her thoughts but am glad she had a future with her guy. I would have been upset if he were involved in anyway. So sad about her sister. This was my first book by this author and would read more if available. A must read if you like mysteries.

Was very "meh". So much of the story was stereotypical with this genre and ironically enough, several characters make note that "after (insert crime show/movie/book) everyone knows how to commit/clean up murder"...while also following along those exact same plots, twists, love interests, etc. Quick, easy read but pretty predictable.

Scar Tissue is the sort of series starter that tells a complete story while leaving space for many more to follow. The protagonist starts as a beautiful model, on the cusp of being rich and famous. But now she struggles to define a new identity without her career. Lines cut into her skin leave her feeling wounded, inside and out. And her torturer hasn’t been caught.

Ciara has friends, but they’re tied up with her old career. She has a boyfriend, but it was hard enough for his family to accept a glamorous model’s presence at his table. They'll never welcome her now. And she has a sister, but the sister wants her to pick herself up and get a job.

From hurtful knife-cuts to healing adjustments, from destroying beauty to restoring normality, from modeling’s glory to remodeling’s generosity, Ciara’s life takes some truly intriguing turns before tragedy sends her tumbling back into returning memories of what was forgotten before.

Ciara’s story’s convincingly told. The plot is intriguing. And the revelation that will drive the series is created in a slowly satisfying manner, allowing the reader to guess and look forward to more. Scar Tissue is a satisfying novel in itself, and a great start to a series. I certainly enjoyed it.

When I began reading this novel my expectations were not very high, but it was so well written I spent an entire rainy day finishing it. Ciara is a model whose career is on the uprise. She is dating the surviving son of a wealthy and prestigious family when she is kidnapped and tortured by a serial killer known as the Cutter. Eight day later she escapes, is hit by a car and in a coma for seventeen days. When she awakens she has no memory of what happened to her. The kidnapper disfigured her body and put some marks on her face by slicing her with a knife during her captivity. This led to the loss of her career and the break-up of her relationship. Finally she leaves New York and returns to Seattle to live with her sister. The Cutter follows. I won't go any further into the plot because of spoilers, but there are more abuses and murders to follow and a climax that is somewhat chilling. Perfect for a rainy day!

When model Ciara Kelly wakes up in the hospital, she has no idea how she got there or what she's endured for the past few weeks. As her memory slowly returns, she remembers being tortured by a psychopath whose face she can't recall. Despite her attempts to hide from this still-loose killer, she can't shake the feeling that he's waiting for her around every corner. The first thriller in a series, Scar Tissue provides an intense introduction to heroine Ciara Kelly and the unreliable cast of secondary narrators surrounding her. Domovitch writes in a style similar to Chevy Stevens, ensuring that you'll stay up late to finish the book, and then leave on a few lights when you're finally ready to try sleeping.

A model is abducted and tortured and lucky to escape with her life. She is left with career destroying scars, amnesia and some spooky abilities. Much to the delight of the matriarch of her wealthy boyfriend's family her relationship dissolves along with her career prospects. Moving to another state with her sister her efforts to regroup and rebuild are threatened when those responsible learn that her memory is returning.

This is an okay book. I figured out the plot early and the unfolding was not all that enthralling. The writing is basic and the wealthy family legacy line got boring fast. I identified the villains early on. Not as much fun as it should have been.

A riveting tale of amnesia, survival, and the pursuit of justice. Model Ciara Kelly awakens in a hospital bed with no memory of the harrowing weeks she spent missing, except for the ominous words etched into her skin. As the police link her case to the elusive Cutter, a serial killer with a chilling track record, Ciara's life unravels, and she is thrust into a nightmarish existence where danger lurks at every turn.

This was an interesting thriller. Solid pacing, highly readable. The ending was a little predictable, and there was a supernatural element that I found unnecessary, but I think it was setting up the next book in the series. If you are looking to lose yourself in a book for a couple of hours, this is a good one to do so in.

I was so very intrigued by the synopsis: A story about a survivor of a serial killer that cuts words into his victims. Ciara is the young woman who escaped the killer. She was an up and coming model until she was kidnapped and tortured. Though her facial scarring isn't bad, the scars on the rest of her body ensure that her modeling career is over. She has to start a new life, without the big paychecks, fancy apartment, and rich boyfriend. But it's even more complicated than it sounds... Ciara has lost the memory of her kidnapping, so she doesn't know who the monster that tortured her is... or where he is now.

This book is a quick read with short and snappy chapters. Very dialogue heavy. I wouldn't expect a lot of realism going into it, it's very soapy at times but it's also really addictive and entertaining. Easy to read in one sitting if you have the time. A nice, easy weekend read. The end of the book promises a sequel and I look forward to it! Final rating: 3.5. I would have loved it to be a touch more realistic but it's still a great story.

I was given an ARC of this book by Net Galley and Lansen Publishing in exchange for an honest review, thank you!
