Love is just a stumble away Samantha, Sam, Thorpe loves books and trees—preferably ones with climbable branches. She plans to settle into quiet spinsterhood, at the ripe old age of 22, with one daunting task ahead of her—to find a fitting suitor for her sister, Celia. Philip Dare, Earl of Ingram, on orders from the Foreign Office, is investigating a spy ring and is determined to find its leader. He has no time for emotional embroilment—until a certain young lady falls, literally, headlong in front of him and lays siege to his defenses.
I loved the characters and the basic plot was ok. There was one error of the period, but even that could have been a joke. I think what makes this a four instead of five is the lack of richness or roundness of the villains and some side characters. We don't really get a good feel for them. One was introduced last minute it seems and was odd. Too many secret rooms. Confusing. Otherwise a charming tale!
