The Guardians Series 1: Book 2 Nothing hurts as much as the truth… Olivia has been left reeling from one shock after another. Betrayed by her family and still trying to piece together the broken fragments of her life. The only person she can stand to have near her is Theo despite not wanting to admit her need for him. Unfortunately peace has yet to return to the mysterious town of Mercy. The town is suddenly overwhelmed by the spirits of the dead, not just one or two but hundreds, and the ensuing chaos brings with it someone dangerous from Theo’s past. With Theo battling his conscience as he keeps a painful secret from Olivia, they must still try to find a way to force all the spirits back to the other side and close the door to the otherworld. The problem is the door was opened on purpose and if Olivia and Theo can’t figure out how and why it might just remain open permanently. REVIEWS "Following on where we left off at the end of Mercy this book instantly had me hooked. The story becomes more entangled with the past and we gradually learn more about the history of the characters. Mixing mystery, magic and mythology, with history and amazing characters I couldn't put The Ferryman down. I had to download the 3rd book immediately I finished this as I could not wait." (Amazon Reviewer) "Thrilling second book which does not disappoint. Following on from events in the first book 'Mercy' this is an exciting and fast paced story which sweeps the readers along to another explosive ending. The author has created totally believable characters who are brave and resourceful and yet still retain human quirks and weaknesses. This is a book you won't want to miss." (Amazon Reviewer) "I loved this book! Having read the first book in the series I didn't think the second one could be as good, but I literally couldn't put it down. There were times I was so immersed in it I actually felt like I was part of the story. I was swept away with the emotion in parts of the story and cried at one part. I have now downloaded the third book in the series and can't wait to start reading." Such an awesome book and series! The main characters are amazing and there are plenty of interesting side characters! The magic… earth, hellfire, spirit fire, etc is fun! I’m definitely continuing with this series! Five stars!
So in this one we meet some new characters as well as start to get some rel answers. Even though this is a fantasy book it hits on some hard topics. I love the way they come together in the end to try to seal the breach and that ending got me I had to rush into the third book to see what happens next. At this point i don't know if she can trust either parent and what has that demon got planned?
Exceptionally well written. This author takes you on journey after journey of hope and heartbreak and heroism...the way these characters feel so real and relatable. How? And let's not forget the beautiful yet heartbreaking reunion if that one family. Won't apoil it but I cried and held my hand to my hear like I was in mourning for my own loved one. Wow.
I am relatively new to this author but Lord Almighty this girl has an imagination and writing talent that is out of bounds!!! I started with the first book, Mercy, and was so enthralled I just had to get the second book. But then I joined her newsletter and received Boothe’s Hallow as a prequel to Mercy.... I feel as though I live in the same town as this group of characters. I am hoping to read more about Jackson. He is much too charming to forget about. And Theo..............
This is very well written fantasy series. Both books 1 and 2 grab you and keeps you reading. Not only do they use witches and demons and mortals, but bring into play various gods and minor immortals from Greek mythology. The story allows for a great suspension of disbelief. The stories make you want to believe.
Mercy is suddenly inundated with ghosts. Olivia realises it is because Charon the now than has disappeared and there is nothing to stop the souls from escaping. Olivia and Theo know they must do something fast to stop Demons escaping from the OtherWorld into this. Even better than the first book in the series Wendy Saunders has written a novel that is fast paced. I found it hard to.Put down and can't wait to discover what happens in the next book. Highly recommended.
1.5* I nearly gave up a bunch of times. A very slow read, with so many unnecessary scenes and musings! And the miscommunication! God, i hate that trope with the burning passion of a thousand suns! Oh, and then we have the horrendous LACK of punctuation! Commas! They were soooo needed But you know what the worst part was? The effing cliffhanger that'll force me to read the next one... Ok, fine, maybe I'm invented now, and I DO love this author's work as Vawn Cassidy.
I know! Save yourselves the trouble and go dive into the "Dead Serious" series. Now, THAT one is incredibly amazing 😍

I love this series! The first book captivated me, and my interest only grows with this book. I love the newly added characters, and learning more about the ones we were introduced to in the first one. However, the editing needs some work- and again with the “not using quotation marks, and instead using apostrophes.” That makes it hard to read. If that issue alone didn’t exist, I would say 4.5 stars.
The second installment in this series is incredible! Just when you think you know what's gonna happen next, the story takes another unexpected turn. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a little fiction mixed with folk lore and mythology. Can't wait to read the next book!
The second in the series. This follows on from the big standoff in the first book. Olivia is hurt and angry by the betrayal of her parents. Luckily she has Theo. This book has most of the same characters and a few new ones. There are ghosts in Mercy and only the Ferryman can help with this. Warming a little more to the series so will look for the next book.
So far I'm very"into" this series. I've read the first two books in record time, and getting ready to start the third one. Absolutely love these books!
Cant get enough of this author. Great storyline and well rounded characters. I binged read until 2 am in the morning. Looking forward to book 3 in the series.
WOW! No sophomore slump for this series. Book two was as thrilling, surprising and beloved as book one. I'm stuck on this series and spreading the word to my friends that THIS series is a MUST READ!
I love this series from The very first sentence I'm hooked . This series is turning into a must read. I'm looking forward to starting Crossroads and continuing Olivia journey
After reading book 1 i didn't expect part 2 to be as exciting, but I really enjoyed it. The storyline introduces you to new characters and expands on original ones.
Ghosts, Demons, God's, Supernatural and Magical events with a cliff hanger ending can't wait to read the next book in the series!!
Yet again the author has swept the reader along with a fast paced and thrilling story. Once you start this you won't want to put it down until you reach the last page. The second book in a series, this is a worthy successor to the first book 'Mercy', and doesn't disappoint. The author has created characters that we can not only believe in, but we are there with them, rooting for them every step of the way. This is a storyline that never flags, but moves seamlessly between modern life and a place where magic and witchcraft are as normal as breathing. I can't wait for the next book to continue with the adventure. Well worth buying. This is a series you will want to read time and again.
