Dave Dravecky was a left handed starting pitcher for the San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants during the mid to late 80's. I believe that I can still remember his last game while pitching. Everyone watching the game heard a snap as he made a pitch during the game. After leavimg the game, as I recall, with a broken arm, "he was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in his pitching arm. The following years were a whirlwind of surgery, radiation, and depression------all in the glaring light of the media. Dave's arm was eventually amputated to stop the spread of the cancer." In recent years, I had the opportunity to meet Dave and have him beat me soundly at eighteen holes of golf at a function known as "The Week of Champions" at Hilton Head, South Carolina. He was the featured speaker at this outreach and Christian benefit for the youth of the "low country". This book takes highlights and humorous antidotes from the last century of baseball, gives insight to many of the well known major leaguers and ties in each "inning" with his strong Christian faith.

Dave Dravecky was a very good major league pitcher until he lost his arm to cancer. This book is an inspirational book on how Dravecky became a Christian and how we should live our lives. It used baseball metaphors to tell the story. It reads more like a devotional book and does have some good stories.
