I love this fabulously creepy cover that opens into an even creepier horror story, and you might want to think twice before you piss off your resident ghost.

The summary promises a chilling horror story but I found nothing that interested me. A ghost's eyes turning red is probably the only thing meant to be 'scary', in this story!. I found it quite disappointing..

bueno, tanto como amé el libro uno, puedo decir que realmente me descepcionó este. Cuanto tienes una serie y colocas una precuela, lo mínimo que te imaginas es q estan relacionados de una forma u otra, al ser un corto esperas que de algunas pinceladas para llenar posibles vacios de la historia principal o historias complementarias de alguno de los personajes secundarios o algo así y basada en su nombre, realmente creí que explicaba un poco sobre los origenes de la historia narrada en Ari.
Sin embargo, rápidamente descubrí mi error, primero, la historia no tiene naaaaada que ver con la historia narrada en el libro 1, ademas el único personaje que tienen en comun es un personaje menos que secundario, es un personaje ocasional que tuvo una intervencion de no más de 2 parrafos, en ambos libros.
Aunque la historia tenía una buena base, creo que la autora no supo explotar el verdadero potencial, más que una historia me sentí leyendo media historia, la sinopsis habla de una niña que hace una promesa a un fantasma y posteriormente la rompe despertando la furia del fantasma, pero realmente no se ve nada de esto en la historia, si hubo una niña, una promesa y la ruptura de la misma, pero de allí nada más, ademas que en fin ultimo el fantasma, que debería haber tomado un papel protagonico, se quedó chico, con dos apariciones ocasionales a lo largo de las páginas y al final ni siquiera se resuelve la historia sino que queda en una especie de limbo, que realmente me costó convencerme que realmente había terminado la historia.

Seen this one while randomly scrolling through the ebooks on Amazon and this fit perfectly for what I wanted. Short...horror-filled.

Time went by and Mel sees her ghost again, but this time he wants vengeance for her breaking her promise.
This was short and def a prequel. Poor Mel. At first, I thought I would be on the ghost's side, but I don't blame her for pushing him away and not wanting to be on his side after he released something on her. *shudders* He released a creature that is literally a nightmare for me so that gave me the goosebumps.
I am curious about the next book! I want more especially with the cliffhanger there. Ooooo!
In the end, I read this by the bonfire and I loved it. If you want a quick horror story that will give you goosebumps, I def recommend this. 5 stars.

I chose to read this short story after receiving a free e-copy from the author. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.
This story is very short but still packs a punch. Mel promised her ghost when she was young that she'd always be his friend, but she broke her promise. Now she's in her twenties and he has decided that he doesn't want to be ignored any longer. Her good ghost isn't so good anymore...
I've always liked S.M. Boyce's writing and that's still the case in Origins which gives a little background to her horror novel Ari. I haven't read Ari yet but I'm going to have to find time to read it. I enjoy a well written horror story!

Short & Sweet
I dont know what to say. It read exceptionally fast & was rather short. I wish it was longer. This isnt a sample is it? I liked it. It should still cost, even if only 49¢. Mamma needs new shoes right?
However, in the middle of a read-a-thon the exceptional shortness of the short short story was perfect. It allowed me to read two books before breakfast...
This, while my nemesis classmate, a librarian is in jail.
I win. The book is a win. Where is my coffee and cigarette?

Wow
Okay, so I knew as soon as the promise was made that breaking it was going to cause issues. It went pretty fast to the promise getting broken, but after that the story really picked up. And the part with the dog, I guessed how it turned out but despite knowing that was coming, I thought it was written really well. What I really liked about this was that last chapter. It was a good way to end this story. I'll give you five stars for this one

Origins (To Each His Ghost #0.5) by S.M. Boyce is a short story about how difficult it is to live with a ghost, and then how difficult it is to live without one. This is an engaging story that lets you feel Mel’s confusion and her dilemma. S.M.Boyce is a great writer of scary stuff, and I highly recommend her work.

Quick but satisfying read
This intro book greatly captures my attention. I really want to figure out the truth behined Hazels death and if he can somehow be redeemed and become a good ghost again. I also loved how t hff e ending made me immediately want to start the next book on the series.

What a short story! Creepy ghost story that leaves you hanging. Story wrote by an exceptional author. Biting nails when dog comes in. Good storyline. I received a complimentary copy of this book for voluntary review consideration.

A Good Intro to Further Books

Chilling
It's amazing to see how the story plays out. To see how the ghost follows and acts. To know that Hazel is her ghost. Can't wait to see what happens. To see how Mel handles things and how her life plays out.

Good, short read
I love all of S.M. Boyce 's work. Although I knew this was a short story, it still seems to lack Mel's very brief appearance in "Ari" and brings how Ari's psychiatrist was able to believe Ari's story.

A woman who started seeing a ghost as a child grows up, annoys the ghost and faces the consequences. It was an alright short story, though a bit uneven and not strong on the horror front if that's what you're looking for. More creepy/atmospheric than frightening.

A chilling short story, that is too close to be brushed of as pure fiction. See explanation further down*
This story is skillfully told, with charm and allure. Making the reader at ease, the ghastly sensation that comes after a twist is even more prominent because of the surprise factor.
It reminds me a lot of the tales told by a campfire, late at night, aimed at spooking each other.
Here comes the major twist to the story [almost a spoiler]:
*Children often have "imaginary friends" and in the 60‘s-70s‘-80‘s a lot of research went into this trying to determine the source of this world wide phenomena. Knowing that and that the research was left inconclusive based on that they established a presence but of unknown origin, this chilled me and rattled my nerves.
Many don't remember their imaginary friends and as an adult few talk about it. What the research did find was that by getting chastised by adult and told it don't exist the child's brain is conditioned to forget. So in a sense the base for this story is not so farfetched as many may think.
