I kind of knew I wasn't going to like this book because of the synopsis but like the fool I am I read it anyway so here goes;
Asshole loses his memory, asshole screws anything around him, asshole even screws some women in the bed reserved for his "Pixie" and then we have Pathetic Doormat who watches him screw around, she is hurt and angry at his betrayal but she still loves him, they reunite and even though she is still angry she can't help falling on him like a sex starved beast! Where was her pride and backbone?? Throughout the story she flactuates between anger at him and bring horny I just wanted to shake her!
So if you like a book with with a disgusting cheater(I don't care if he had lost his memories he knew something wasn't right) and a spineless, weak and pathetic doormat well then this book is for you. This author is not safe and I will never read anymore of her books.

I was a bit hesitant to start this one; The idea of a girl watching her mate screw others for 800 years was worrisome, it’s free in KU so I knew I could quit if I needed. Honestly, it’s not as bad as I thought it would be.

The book starts in Scotland in the year 1215, Brody and Isabel (Pixie) are mates happily in love when a witch cast a spell on them which makes Isabel disappear and everyone forgets she ever existed, but she’s trapped in some weird ghost like state where she follows Brody around, but he has no idea she’s there. Brody wakes up with a trashed room and no memory of Isabel or ever having a mate, and since no one else remembers her, no one realizes she’s trapped.

The story picks back up 800 years later. This is the part that I think most readers will be bothered by. Brody doesn’t remember his mate, but he feels hollow and as years go on it gets worse and he starts to self destruct. We are told he is a total man-whore, and he drinks a lot. There are only a few scenes where we have to “witness” this (and they are short and not graphic) that I’ll put in a spoiler below, for those that want to determine if they can deal with it. This part is over when the spell is broken at the 25% mark. Once the spell is broken, the Brody from the beginning of the book is back, and everything that happened over the 800 years in foggy... he can’t remember any of the women, but she can.

The remainder of the book is about the couple trying to get past what was done to them. It is understandably very hard for Isabel to move on, and Brody is very apologetic, but he was manipulated also so in a way they are both victims. Also, the witch is still out there messing with them.

The book isn’t bad, but it isn’t great either. There is a lot of repeated dialogue, and I’m guessing this is a new writer... it felt very watt pad (ish) It did keep me reading though.

Spoilers - non-cheating(because he doesn’t remember she exists) ...cheating scenarios

I found the premise of the novel interesting enough to read immediately. That of being trapped behind a magical barrier while the world rushes by,witness to events that tear your soul apart, like being encased in a glass coffin of fire while being tortured in purgatory.

Is it actually cheating if your memory has been erased by the dark arts.

Not really!!!!Because you would not be your true self!!!!!

Would this man have f"*ked other women if his mate had been visible & present during this time period of deadly enchantments?

No.I believe he would have been in all his senses which he seemed to have lost when the spell was cast.

If you had no memory of someone existing as fact, not even memory of death would you stay celibate for 800 years because of dreams?Though those dreams did prevent him from taking a second mate.Perhaps animal instinct!

No way in hell.

That aside the author did take the antics of the alpha to the extreme, twenty whores in a single night in an open bar & he did it just to prove a point?Depraved behavior like that surely cannot be the fault of amnesia, that is base instinct.Even if he were enchanted to forget his lover surely his nature was not warped as well when the spell was created?

I do tend to gravitate towards books of a darker nature & as such cheating does not creep me out though there is no cheating due to memory lost but the lack of morals that the hero possessed was jaw dropping & his encounters with the other women were not even erotic.I can still almost smell the writer's description of all these unwashed bodies and she wrote that he has the scent of a wolf & he still indulged.

And though I applaud the way the book was written as it twisted the mate bond story line I go away knowing that the hero was no Alpha,he had zero respect for women & as such should have had to endure years of celibacy locked away in a glass coffin himself.Even his mate wept at some of his attitude towards these women when she were not seeing green.

Trapped with the Alpha is the first paranormal story between Emily and Julia and it was a good start for me. I love the whole mystical aspect of it where she is trapped and he and his pack are under a spell, not remembering who she is. She is stuck by his side for 800 years witnessing everything and what I mean by everything is him screwing women and drinking to fill the void of not having a mate.
When she is finally free, she will have to come to terms with what she has seen while battling to show she can be a good mate. Throw in a war between the Balfour pack with some rogues and you will have a interesting read on your hands.
I'll admit I am not a paranormal reader. I am not saying I haven't read them, its just I prefer other genres. I dig the possessive alpha tendencies that the hero's have. Brody definitely has those tendencies. I shivered a few times that is for sure. Isabel for me was a likeable character, what I didnt care for what her tendency to always make comments for what she saw. It wasn't his fault that he had no clue she existed so for me I felt she took it too far. Their chemistry was hot though.
It was a good start for Emily and Julia. I cant wait to see what is to come!

Well I have to say this is one of the best wolf/ shifter books I have ever read. I went into it with an open mind knowing I'm a freak for vampires but wolves...not so much. They all seem the same to me but not this one. This one gives me hope :)
Their human sides were the main characters here. Yes the wolves were hot too don't get me wrong lol, but they weren't the main focus.
I have to admit I wasn't sure if I was going to liked this. The description alone pissed me off. Just putting myself in Izzys place and thinking of watching my mate go through woman after woman had me thinking what a dick he was going to be. Yea I was wrong. While I could definitely see myself having a hard time forgiving him I also felt bad for Brody. The twist of him completely forgetting she ever existed turns the tables somewhat. While it would still be hard, is it really is fault he tried to fill the void that always seemed to suck the life from him. Who's to say Izzy wouldn't have done the same thing. I loved these characters to point I was sad to see this story end. It was hot and entertaining all at the same time and I found it hard to even put it down long enough to sleep lol. These ladies completely had me hooked and I can't wait to see what else is in store for this clan of sexy shifters :)

Isabel McKay has been trapped for 800 years, tethered to her mate's side, watching his downward spiral ... watching him hump anything that came his way. Her only sin was that she fell in love with Brody Balfour. Then again, their predicament isn't Brody fault either. They are both victims of a crazy delusional witch looking for revenge. Straight forward plot: Boy+Girl+Ancient Curse= Witch's Revenge but the female lead just messed up the story a bit. The heroine is in full I'm the victim mode and I understand why. But come on.

The male lead (Brody) is drowning himself in self destructive sexual activity and she's really pissed (and its understandable) that she has to witness it. But this character goes from being pissed about him having sexual encounters with hundreds of women for 800 year to being mad that he didn't care enough about them or that he didn't take the time to get to know them. Really? I understand that the heroine's behavior helps to lead up to the climax of the story but there is a certain strength lacking in this female lead.

Minton and Keith steam up the pages in this paranormal romance. FIVE off the chart stars are not even enough for this book. Paranormal generally isn't my cup of tea, but the pull and push between the main characters sucked me in. Their desire and attraction for one another will make you melt. The torture you'll experience will leave you pained for a character, but in the end the attraction and sex will leave you wanting more. The authors do a phenomenal job of creating a world and backstory that sucks you in to the shifter realm.

It's raw, real, and in your face. Brody and Izzy are destined to be together and never give up how ugly their story gets. And, oh, Brody...Alpha with a capital A!

✯✯5 Alpha Sized Stars!!!✯✯

Man oh man. This is my first read for Emily and Julia. Emily's books have been on my list for awhile. I been reading romance books for awhile now. When I got the chance to read this I jumped at the chance. Paranormal fantasy is my FAVORITE to read and watch. Man, am I glad I read this.

Brody Balfour has found his mate. Isabel AKA Izzy AKA his Pixie. The night he claims her should be the happiest of both their lives. Except it's a downward spiral for both of them. One minute they're happy and in love. Then, something happens. Izzy disappears in a split second. She's trapped in a world consisting of just herself. But, she's not technically alone. She's bound to Brody. Izzy's invisible to everyone. Brody wakes up and doesn't remember Izzy or their life together.

The next 800 years are hard for both of them. Izzy is stuck watching Brody. No matter how hard or loud she yells, screams or cries he can't hear her. Izzy is stuck watching him do everything. Including watching him night after night day after day sleeping with multiple woman. Brody is lost and he doesn't know why. His pack is worried about him. They keep telling him to find a mate. But, he doesn't have that connection with anyone. When he falls asleep he sees her and it feels so real. Until he wakes up and she's gone. Until one strange minute Izzy falls out of the sky. I mean she legit fell out of nowhere.

The minute Brody sees her their entire life comes rushing back to him. Brody is ecstatic to have Izzy or his Pixie back. He can not believe or understand why he couldn't remember her the past 800 yrs. Izzy is glad to have Brody back. Except every time she sleeps or looks around she's seeing all the woman Brody slept with. It's killing her slowly.

Brody and Izzy are trying to move forward with their lives. Brody and his pack are going thru books about their ancestors and the older guys are going thru their pasts. Who and why would anyone do this to Brody and Izzy. Izzy is also on a mission to get over her jealousy. She still loves Brody more then anything and is still his mate. But, the past 800 yrs keep playing in her head and can't get past it. Until Brody and Izzy can figure out who and what did this to them nobody is safe.

This was such a great book. I literally couldn't put it down. Everything Izzy went thru I felt for her. Even though Brody didn't know about her Izzy's heart still broke a little more every time he slept with somebody. When Brody suddenly remembers Izzy he's heartbroken because she's his mate and he couldn't protect her. This was a couple so in love even after so long apart and after so much was done to them. But, their fight is not over. It has literally just began. Emily and Julia better hurry up with the next book!!

Took a few days in review...lol.

I really liked Isabel, and I felt horrid for what she underwent in being in purgatory of being trapped with her mate and in spirit watching his "forget her" and whore his way thru thousands of women while she was forced to watch his betrayal over and over again.....

Brody was cursed and "forgot his mate", but in saying that even though he felt bad for what she went through when they were united, he had no clue what she had suffered.

How she remotely forgave him was a gift from the author, as 800 of watching your love screw everything nasty and gross I would have been beyond grossed out as well as unforgiving...

The story however was good, I just could not really get over the infidelity that she was forced to watch and his "I am sorry" should be good enough for what she went through... it in NOWAY made it better...I am not exactly sure what could have helped...but his blasé whats done is done was NOT the way to forgiveness...lol.

honestly, it was hard to see it, hard to see what happens later. Some of the issues and storyline were just quickly swept under the rug but maybe if the book would be bit longer and give them more time maybe it I would like it much more! Honestly whole idea and characters are pretty amazing!! And can not wait for the next book because, honestly I cried like a baby towards the end!! You'd think a book about a woman trapped for 800 years, condemned to watch her mate forget her and then go on with his life, living, and having sex with whoever he wants..would have a lot of angst. Nope. Frankly this book was pretty boring.

It was essentially just porn. If you took out all the sex I'd be surprised if there was 20 pages of plot. What little flow the book tried for was disrupted by clunky, unnecessary flashbacks. All in all, I'd say save your time and skip this one.

description

Smoking hot and heart-wrenching.

Isabel has been forced to live by the side of her mate, her love, for eight hundred years, all while he has no memory of her...
Let that sink in for a minute.
She has been forced into her own personal hell with no good explanation. She has had no one to talk to, no one to hear her, nothing to smell, touch, eat or do but follow around Brody no matter where he goes or what he does.

Brody is living a life of self-destruction. As alpha of his pack he is supposed to live by example but that has not been happening. He drinks himself numb, screws himself into oblivion and has no idea what his problem is. He has been alive for over 800 years but he is barely surviving until one fateful night when Isabel literally falls back into his life.

"Instead of living happily by his side, I'm living in hell, with no end in sight."

Being back is harder than being gone and Brody is forced to deal with the pain that Isabel has endured while he knew nothing. While Isabel is in emotional turmoil and doesn't know which end is up. These two are good at two things; fighting and sex. Everything else, they can't seem to figure out, not to mention there is still the mystery as to what happened in the first place.

I LOVE paranormal romance books and this was no exception. I loved learning about the pack and meeting some of the other players. I enjoyed all of the characters, Brody is an alpha in every sense of the word and Isabel is a strong willed heroine who doesn't put up with anything. These two heat up the pages both physically and verbally. Their story broke my heart to have it all, only to lose it and one who remembers and another who doesn't. It was also a unique story which had me from the very beginning. I am definitely looking forward to more of this series.

Review for Trapped With an Alpha by Emily Minton & Julia Keith

Trapped With an Alpha gives you all the amazingly alpha anti-heroes that you love to hate and hate to love while adding a paranormal twist. I’m a huge paranormal reader. One of my favorite things about shifter books is how an author can take one concept — werewolves — and build an entire world that is different than any other out there. Unlike standard romance, where you need to have at least a foot in the door of reality, paranormal romance can give you complete fiction. The options are limited only by the authors imagination.

It’s clear that both Minton and Keith understand this and ran with it. If you’re looking for an off the charts sexy shifter book filled with angst and suspense, then you should give this book a try!

Four stars and four wet panties.

The story has laughs, pain, betrayal, secrets, grief, suspense and heartbreak. I was pulled right into this story.

This is Isabel and Brody’s story. One night after being claimed Isabel and Brody are separated. She disappears and all his memories are gone of her. He goes on with his life as he does not remember her at all or what happened. But she is tied to him and must witness everything he does including all the woman he is with. Year after year goes by and Brody gets more out of control to the point even his pack are worried. After over 800 years of watching Brody but him not seeing her Isabel is not sure she loves or hates Brody. When he remembers her will it bring her back? Will they ever be able to get over what he has done for the last 800 years while she was trapped? Or will it only cause him more pain as he can’t figure out what happened and why she was just suddenly gone. Can they figure out what caused her to go away and him to forget before she is taken away again? As they deal with all the pain and anger of the situation will they ever get the love back that they had? Or is the love gone forever?

I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

Holy mother of shifters with a ton of suspense and hotness. This book was sexy, heartbreaking, and then will make you whole again.

Izzy and Brody meet and fall head over heels in love. He claims her as his mate and the night before he is going to tell everyone that he plans to marry her, she is ripped from him right before his very eyes along with all memories that she even existed.

For 800 years, she is held in a state of pure hell. She is everywhere that Brody is but cannot feel anything besides the longing to he with her mate. She is forced to watch him with woman after woman drowning his sorrows. He dreams about her very night but is unable to piece it all together. He just feels like part of him is missing.

One day she is suddenly jolted back into the real world right on Brody's floor. Instantly the memories all come back. At, first she is so happy, but then her mind cannot stop thinking about all.of the women she had to endure watching him with over the years and things get ugly between them. They just cant stop fighting unless they are having hot sex.

Will they be able to fight against the odds and overcome all that has been dealt against them? This was definitely a 5 star read and I can't wait for book 2.

This book started off HOT!! And after the first chapter I was hooked!
And then Brody just pissed me off... (Read the book and you will understand, lol)

Brody is an Alpha Shifter and mated to Isabel who is the blacksmith's daughter. Izzy never thought she would end up with the someone like Brody. But after they mated a witch put a curse on them. And things just went downhill from there
When they were re-united it was hard for Izzy to get back into their relationship with the way it was before. Even though Brody was trying everything to get her to believe that she is his MATE and there is no one else for him

I can understand why it was so hard for Izzy an I really admired how patient Brody was with her after everything that happened
This book has everything in it. HOT Alpha male, sassy female, witches, wolves, skanky women who can't take no for an answer, sad moments, frustrating moments, and just everything you want in in a HOT Paranomal book

Definitely recommending this one to my friends

Thanks Emily Minton and Julia Kent, awesome story!

I really enjoyed this book. I received it to give my honest opinion and I plan on doing just that. When I first stated really this book I thought this was gonna be another story about how the Alpha gets the shy timid girl bout Izzy is anything but timid when it comes to fighting with Brody. Brody is the Alpha of the pack and is under a lot of stress. He knows something is missing but can’t remember what it is. Izzy was placed under a curse to watch Brody destroy himself and everything in his path unless he can remember. Its torture for Izzy to stand by and watch the man she loves go down this path for over 800 years. She is stuck in a ghost form unable to nothing by relive everything he does over and over again. Brody has no clue Izzy even exist let alone she is watching him. He has different women every night sometimes more than one. For both of them life sucks! Will it ever get better or will they be stuck like this for another 800 years? I hope you really enjoy this book like I did.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! I will just say that I hope this becomes a long, long, series as these two authors together make magic! This story is bursting with emotion and will have you hooked from page one. The storyline is incredible. The authors did an amazing job with all the detail and description. I felt like I was in the room with Isabel and Brody throughout the entire story. Brody is a very aggressive and protective alpha. Isabel starts as a very broken character but reveals how strong she is. These two together are beautiful. Their chemistry is off the charts. Dark forces are at work in this story. This will cause both characters untold pain and suffering. I cried for both characters and was so happy for them in the end. I bow before these authors as this book just went to the top as my favorite shifter romance!

This book hates women. Seriously. The heroine is a bland pushover, the hero is a mysogynistic rapey asshat, and the slutshaming is epic and infuriating. I made it 66% of the way through before realizing that life is too short to make myself this disgusted on purpose.

You know, I found the blurb interesting enough to give this book a shot... For the first part it was ok, but I couldn't wait for her to be normal again... Then, when she did become "solid" again, this just went to hell...
I just cannot get past the weird screw-ups here...
She pushed him away because he reeked of other women (you know since he slept with about 20 of them in one night), but after few hours of screaming, she let him sleep with her and was like a little purring, happy kitten. Wait, what?
She has to be reminded to eat, since she didn't need food for 800 years, but about 70% in she has suddenly always been all "I'll bite your hear off if you stand between me and my food". Excuse me?
She cannot get past her anger about his cheating, but she has no trouble sleeping with him all day and night long? The logic?
She is so "angry" at him, she screams, but at the same time is all "baby, we don't need to change the bed, I am over it". Lying or faking, which one?
Also, the fact, that he takes her to The Den to meet up with his packmates, when he knows all his previous bed-mates are going to be hanging around there? Logic? Couldn't he just banned those girls from entering? Or at least not paraded them in her face?
He changed all about his room, but never thought of the clothing that reek of other women? Are you for real?
And the villain introduced was this Colin or whatever his name was, then suddenly it turned about 180 degrees and now the main villain is some witch that has cursed the family for generations? I beg your pardon? No one noticed? How about some natural development of things?

Also. Every time there is some food involved, it just slides on the floor, because they begin having sex. Repetition? Ever heard of it?
"I hate you, I wish I was never your mate" ..few pages later.. "Oh, Brody, yes, harder"....Repetition...Again and again... Barf.

I just have a very hard time getting over how caring-uncaring the hero is, since he is just constantly rude and uncaring, with some weird flashes where he wants to hand feed her. (What the f?) and the heroine just seems like another of his bed-warmers - screwing his brains out and then when he is not paying enough attention, throwing a hissy fit. Her "anger" just reappears and fades so quickly, it is annoying and gets old fast. I am two thirds done with this and already I am getting physically sick of her "I am so angry with you" screaming and the jumping in his bed when he even just looks at her. Dignity? Self-respect? How about some dating, so you would be different from all the other girls that jump in his bed when he looks at them? I am soooo ready to barf from their sex scenes...

Trapped with the Alpha was a wolf shifter romance story with some crazy stuff happening to the MCs and how they overcome their struggle to find each other.
From what I have read, I feel like the author didn't do a great job of how this story should move interestingly with the plotline.
It's a given that something very bad is in play, but instead of focusing or the storyline moving in that direction which would have been intriguing if it was, the whole book just kept on circling between our MCs unnerving arguments and declarations. Yes, I get it if you have to see your man screw his way through woman population left and right for hundreds of years and if you are forced to watch that nightmare then I'm sure you might feel tremendously hurt and furious, but I couldn't believe how the heroine could totally ignore or just don't care about the critical topic of who and why someone did this atrocity to them and get into the bottom of it and bring that crap to light. She was just a lust and jealousy driven emotional mess.

I also could kinda understand our hero as he totally forgot the heroine ever existed in his life or whether he had a mate. Yes, his actions were shitty, but its also shown that even though he was a manwhore, he was a mess, that he didn't have a grip on himself and it's not his fault.
So their back and forth about this same topic for the majority of this book got really old and boring. If not that, they were jumping at each other and going at it like rabbits, which if you ask me happened for the 90% of the book. I totally get the shifter mate thing and their bond being intense, but all I felt was that the intimacy scenes could have been handled better... I mean less sex and more about other important stuff like their growth in relationship, or their pack history and their dynamics, the rogues problem or mainly the major issue behind their curse, but none of that major challenging stuff were taken into consideration in this book which I would tell failed a reader's incitement.

So these were my issues with this book and so turned out to be a total letdown for me.

I didn’t really read the description of this book so I wasn’t sure what I was in for when I started. Brody was a great hero. Yes he made his mistakes but I truly feel that he redeems himself fairly quickly. Izzy was harder to convience me that she was worthy. I understood both sides of this tale and I think that’s what made me love it so much.

The plot was so intriguing because it not only was full of steam. But the paranormal aspect spoke to me. There was magic and evil villains, an amazing soulmate love story, and great secondary characters.

My biggest complaint, for me personally, was the lack of shifting when it came to the plot. This is a group of shifters and it truly only showed them in shifted for a few times. When I read about shifters, I want to see them out running and bring their animals, and this story felt flat with that.

In the end; I did enjoy it and plan on reading more from the series. The secondary characters that are part of the pack really drew me into needing more. 4 Stars #2OCCJD
