Clay Richardson is a well-known artist who owns his own gallery.
Quint Hawk, a police detective, makes contact with Clay when he sees a portrait Clay has painted in the window of the gallery--a portrait of a homeless young man who was murdered just days before. Unfortunately, Clay has no idea who the subject was.
Several months later, Quint contacts Clay to again ask about one of Clay's paintings. The subject has been murdered, as has a third man in another of his paintings.
The reclusive artist and the handsome detective are drawn to each other as they try to determine what is happening and why. They come up with a plan to catch the killer--a plan that could end up in their deaths before they can decide if there is more to their feelings than a couple of very good nights in Clay's bed.
Born and bred Cleveland, I earned a degree in technical theater, later switched to costuming, and headed to NYC. Finally seeing the futility of trying to become rich and famous in the Big Apple, I joined VISTA—Volunteers in Service to America—ending up in Chicago for three years. Then it was on to Denver, where I put down roots and worked as a costume designer until I retired in 2007.
I began writing a few years ago after joining an online fanfic group. Two friends and I then started a group for writers, where they could post any story they wished, no matter the genre or content. Since then I've been writing for publication. My first book came out in February of 2011. Most, but not all, of my work is M/M, either mildly erotic or purely 'romantic'. More often than not it involves a mystery or action/adventure, and is sometimes paranormal as well.
Updated Version ❤A great start at the beginning they definitely had lots of fire at their first meeting. Time jumps in place and they re-meet to Clay beginning informed his painted subject are now deceased. A murder mystery to solve or two. Clay had been badly bitten in the past with his relationships and doesn't want any more.. A fake boyfriend and the danger suddenly ramps up. This is a great mystery riddle to figure out to solve, clues are discovered as well as suspects. Hot sexy scenes happen and danger too. I loved the feelings with these guys. A twist for the ending and all ends well for a HEA.
Clay 32 yrs was as painter and had his own gallery showings. Trying for a quite moment in a bar, he gets interruptions by men and one in particular peeves him off. Quinton was a Detective investigating a murder relating to a person in Clay's painting, which leads to more.
With murder mysteries not exactly my most frequently read genre, the ones I am attracted to usually have a vibe of something unusual. Well, unusual the way I define it. The blurb for this story intrigued me because it seemed to imply some sort of psychic ability on the part of the artist. Nothing could be further from the truth, and I found it fascinating to see the mysterious link between the paintings and the murders explained in an entirely rational, nonpsychic way. It took a bit of doing, and two very bright men, each in their own way, but by the end of the novella it all came down to very human emotions and a readiness to ignore the sanctity of human life on the killer’s part. This is a suspenseful story with great main characters, a few twists and turns, and an unexpected but entirely logical resolution.
Another great story from Edward Kendrick involving a famous artist, Clay, and a detective, Quint. Quint was investigating a murder when he met the normally recluse artist who had captured the murder victim on sketches and canvus. Quint began to question Clay of the possible link between him and the victim or the murderer. Clay was completely shocked that maybe the murderer could be after him, maybe his obsessed ex. As Quint continues to spend time with Clay, the two seem to want more. Quint is somewhat possessive, but Clay Seems okay with it, unlike his ex. Evidence is brought to light that Clay's ex was murdered 2 1/2 Years ago. Matty, his ex's brother, comes into the story. Revenge can be a strong element in a broken relationship especially when the ex is not really dead. The Element Cases culminate together as Quint has found out who is out to kill them. Quint, being one step behind, is brought together with Clay as the murderers want to end their lives and their relationship. Gripping story of mystery, murder , revenge, and love. I love these stories that brings so much excitement to life. Don't miss Edward's style of writing incompassing more than SEX. Strong character development and story line that will put you on the edge. A Must Read!!

Wow! another sexy and sweet story written by Edward Kendrick. I loved the characters. Quint is a detective trying to solve a murder or murders throughout the story, he's sexy, sweet and kick ass. Clay is a jerk at first, lol. Love when he blows A admirer off. Then he turns caring, sweet and kick ass in his own right. Love these two characters together. Edward has a knack for writing memorable characters that fit perfectly together. This story has action, intrigue, mystery and a sexy all in one. I can't get enough of Edward's stories, I get lost in the story and fall for the characters every time. This story takes you on a who done it ride with twists and turns. Very entertaining. 5 stars
4.5 I really liked it - the characters and the mystery; the ending was a bit abrupt in terms of resolving the mystery, but other than that, very enjoyable.
