Wit's End is Book 8 in the Irish Games.Things have settled down for Sarah and Mike and their group for several months now as they make an abandoned medieval castle their home and stronghold. But trouble is brewing on the horizon as more and more desperate survivors of The Crisis creep ever closer. Will Mike and Sarah be able to make a stand? At what cost?
I could not get through the Irish End Games series fast enough. This series goes down as one of my favorites. Very fast paced. You fall in love with the characters and you feel for what they are going through. This series had me hooked from the start, and I can't wait for each book to come out so I can continue to read what happens next.......
This series is in dire need of an editor. Withstanding 8 books with typos and skipped words almost every page is one thing, but in this one, there were a lot of timeline/story errors. John was 19 but it was 7 years after the EMP (which happened when he was 9). They had 4 hordes but recovered all 7. They had four time the population of the end of the last book, including some that were never there before. This happened throughout the book and became distracting and irritating.
Very fast paced. Issues come up all the time and I can’t stop reading until I find out how they get out the dangerous situation, have grown to love the characters. Good news is the that the series just keeps going. Headed for book 9 now
I can't get enough of this series! Each one is almost torture to read! I can't help praying things will get better with each new book! These characters are amazing survivors, well, maybe not all of them......
Captivating, immersive story that I just couldn't put down...
(spoiler alert) I was so looking forward to this latest book in the Irish End Games series and I wasn't in the least disappointed! The only thing that strikes you is the incredibly bad luck these poor people have to keep getting into such terrible situations again and again, almost to the point of stretching credulity, even if it is in a post apocalyptic horror of a world. The only other issue that didn't quite make sense to me is the explanation for the bombing of the castle. For such an advanced group of scientists and thinkers, trying to preserve current science, knowledge and technology it seems awfully counter-productive, if not downright illogical as well as immoral. That said, it does not stop this from being a terrific read and one of the best books I've had the pleasure of enjoying all year! Highly recommended!
Susan Kiernan-Lewis Wit's End ( The Irish End Games Books 1-8)
Have enjoyed all eight of these books, they are very exciting and up to the minute with all the characters filling the spots that they are supposed to. Taking into account all the add-on characters who pop up and try to upset the main characters in this. As I said I enjoyed the series and hope there is another one in the ongoing series ......
I love this series. Love this category of dystopian and apocalyptic fiction. Characters are realistic, and these books never lack adventure, danger, sacrifice, love, and verisimilitude. Begin with Book 1 and get ready for an adventure that gets better with each book. Quite a cliffhanger in this one!
This was a great continuation of the earlier Irish End Games books. The characters are so believable you almost feel their pain. But you also share their happiness and their hopes for a future that is so uncertain.
I think the story took an odd turn with David being alive and the secret society. That kind of turned me off a little. I also didn't care for the ending. Mike just disappears? I will still read on because I've loved the series so far.
