One of my favorite vampire stories I've read this year. It's a very good YA genres story, it has it's very sweet moments of silly young teenage girl falls in love with a vampire story. Lizzy is a hopeless romantic girl who all popular at school with the cutest boy in school, until Mortimer the vampire shows up, starts having the lse very vivid almost real dreams of things that happen in the past. This isn't your normal regular vampire story, it has a dragon, a fairy, and wizards with princesses. Good from beginning to end. Author asked if I was interested in reading this story and gave it to me to read for free as ebook from Amazon. It was an honor to read. I highly recommend this book to all Vampire and fantasy readers!

I was given a copy by the author to read and write an honest review. Cameron has written a great book for teens and young adults as well as Adults. Lizzy is one of the popular girls, as well as the prettiest, she feels at her high school in Oregon. Her boyfriend is Chad, a jock. Mortimer shows up at their school, he is from England and keeps to him self. Lizzy is fascinated with him. She begins having dreams about him starting when he became a vampire and as they continue she sees his life unfold. This only makes her want him more. Arielle arrives from England and the Drake. They both know Mortimer. Mortimer continues to ignore Lizzy, but Drake tells her she is meant to be with him and he will help her get his attention. One night Mortimer comes in her window and takes hold of her and she flies with him to his cave. This continues nightly until she falls from her arms as they are hit by a plane. She is caught and wakes up at a lake in England with her someone trying to hold her head under water. Read the exciting book to see what happens.

The whole concept of the story's summary sounded like it was going to be an interesting story but instead I found that it was more a parody of "Twilight" in many instances with a few selective changes. And when it wasn't following "Twilight" it was making many references to it or to the "itty bitty bubble vampire" trend.

There were instances that I did enjoy the book but for the most part it was long and dragged while Cameron has hit the head of Liz being a ditz, which made her very annoying throughout the whole book. Furthermore when I didn't feel like I was being dumbed down by her narrative I couldn't find much room for the other characters who were also quite flat and without much of personalities.

There were a lot of spelling mistakes and some name spelling flops. But being that this was suppose to be from her viewpoint in high school I can't say whether it was intentional or not. Not going to even pursue it, though, for that purpose.

And the last thing that I have to fuss about is the blatant sexuality and "come hither" shallowness. In my opinion I wouldn't recommend this for some young teen audiences but I know their crowd has a whole lot differences in reading and reading content then when I was young, which wasn't that long ago. Basically it will be a matter of opinion.

What helped for me to give this book 2 stars is there was wisdom buried within the story and some instances that had me excited but not many. Furthermore the author was creative in his usage of the story when it actually skittered away from the "Twilightish vampire trend" and I wish there had been more of him than other common writing in the book.

Out of the whole story the best was Dracco and Lissy while I wish that was a story in and of itself with no selfish human/vampire motives involved. It was in my opinion the best part of the story while I was disappointed in what happened nor do I like how the ending was manipulated for them even in the upcoming future but all in all it will do for this story.

Reviewed for Reader's Favorite.

Forflick, Oregon is your typical small town in America. Nothing much to do as a teenager but hang out at the Carl's Jr/Green Burrito or the Dairy Queen. The cutest, most popular girl , which just happens to be Lizzy, dates the football star, Chad. Everyone talks of nothing more than getting out of the town and finding something more exciting! Excitement finds them, or at least Lizzy, the day a foreign exchange student Mortimer arrives. Lizzy decides to flirt with him, but he ignores her, which has never happened, then Lizzy starts dreaming of Mortimer. Now she is hooked, she just has to date him. Enter a second exchange student, Arielle and things get complicated. Mortimer actually likes her and talks to her, which peeves Lizzy, but help is on the way in the form of a third exchange student, Drake. Author Cameron Glenn writes a comical yet believable story of high school life and lust in Mortimer the Vampire, all told from Lizzy's point of view.

In Mortimer the Vampire, we get to learn how he became a vampire through the dreams that Lizzy has. The whole time she thinks that Mortimer is showing her his true self, and that he needs her. Lizzy is definitely your typical high school popular girl with nothing else on her mind but looking good, being popular, and dating. The trouble with the dreams are that we only see them in the very beginning, right after Mortimer became a Vampire, as he was still learning to deal with what he was and didn't like it. By the time Lizzy meets him in real life it's been a couple of centuries. Author Cameron Glenn does a wonderful job of weaving Mortimer's past into the story, making the reader feel for him just as Lizzy does. Not to spoil the story, but I should mention that there is also a wizard, a fairy, a werewolf and a dragon in this story. This is a good book for any age reader, even though it is focused on high-school aged. There is no real violence or sex in the book, so it's good to go for all readers. Enjoy!!

I was given a copy by the author for an honest review. I love vampire stories. This one is about a popular high school student Lizzy. A new student named Mortimer moves to her town. He was dark, quiet, and pale young man. He didn't make friends and didn't go out of his way to make them. Lizzy starts watching Mortimer and wondering who he was. A new girl named Arielle arrives at the school and it seems Mortimer and her are friends.

She begins to dream of Mortimer and she can see how he becomes a vampire. She learns that Arielle is a fairy. The more she see dreams, the more she learns of him and his past.

This is a most read book for young adults and adults. I will not tell you anymore of the story. Cameron Glenn is a wonderful author. I can't wait to read more books by this author.

I received this book from the author to write an honest review. I got this book after work today. I sat down, started reading, only intending to read the first few chapters. Put my bookmark in about chapter 5, time for dinner. Except I didn't get around to dinner until around chapter 10. Then I completed this book about three hours after opening up the package - I loved this book. I found it utterly charming and creative, especially since I truthfully had NO idea what the book was about after reading the description! I recommend this book to any adult who loves whimsical tales of vampires, fairies, and dragons.

Rather decent book that is about a ditzy girl who is checking out all these weird English transfer students while trying to get the eye of one that freezes her world. She finds out that when you change your priorities it can be for the best but also for the worst while there is always just another story underneath.

The story's protagonist follows a slightly more realistic tone than Bella from "Twilight" while there is plenty of pop culture add-ons thrown in for those who are slightly older. Otherwise just a basic read involving some of the more popular beings found in fantasy literature.

This was a really fun book and the perfect way of enjoying a lazy Sunday evening...

I curled up with a glass of wine and got cozy with Mortimer, Lizzy, Arielle and the rest of the gang. Left this world behind me and went back in time to revisit high-school. And let me tell you it was much more interesting this time around. It was definitely my kind of place. I mean seriously with a vampire, dragon and fairy to spice things up the jocks cheerleaders and other assorted cliques were no longer the main drama on the menu.

Ok ok, that was my somewhat lame attempt at trying my hand at writing an amusing yet persuasive review. Let's just agree on the obvious, that a writer I am not.

So I'll just lay on the line for you. In my humble opinion Mortimer the Vampire is a four star worthy read. And I'm without a doubt rooting for a sequel.

It took me a little bit into the book to get past the writing style (the author did a believable job of writing like a teenage girl). The story combines creatures you don't typically read about together (a dragon and a vampire)in a way that actually makes a lot of sense when it is all explained to you. Throughout the book, I questioned if this was going to be a twilight knock-off, but towards the end especially with the surprise ending) I realized that the book was not as predictable as I first thought it was. A very good story to read if you want a different type of vampire novel.

The author gifted this book to me through Amazon after I expressed interest in the book on Goodreads. Thank you Cameron Glenn!

I received a kindle edition of this book from the author for a honest review. I enjoyed reading this book and thought it would be your typical vampire romance...girl meets boy(vampire)...they fall in love and fly off to live happily ever after....but this book has fairies, warlocks, dragons, and princesses along with typical high school drama. The ending SHOCKED me...did not see that coming.

This was probably my favorite book by this author. It was funny at parts, well written, the story line was great. Plus it has a vampire. How can you go wrong with a vampire? It's got love and paranormal stuff and yeah. I don't want to give anything away xD. I would recommend then to people. I really enjoyed it. 4 out of 5 stars. Really good read.

It was a bit difficult to get into, because of the narrative style. However the twist at the end made me glad I did!

Remember the hot vampire craze via Twilight and the like? This book was written around that time, I believe, and it's a pretty fun and funny riff on that genre, although also being originally entertaining and interesting in its own right. It gets a bit silly with vampires, a dragon turned into a high school boy, a fairy keeping an eye on him, a sneaky wizard and a teen werewolf, but also there's some heaviness, with themes of the folly of longing love and the pain of not loving at all. It's pretty neat. It'd be fun to see this as a movie or a series. (Maybe another teen vampire craze will catch on, who knows).

What a weird, fun, read. The "voice" of the narrator girl is a bit ramble-y and runs on at times, so the style isn't for everyone, but I think it makes her seem more "real" within all the bonkers paranormal contemporary fantasy stuff going on. It's funny too while also being an engrossing story with interesting characters. Looking at the date, it was written during the "Twilight" craze and I think it's also meant to be a bit of a critique on the culture teen girl hot vampire crushes thing going on in the culture. I don't want to spoil anything though. Just read it.

While I understand that this was meant to be from a teenage girl's point of view, that simply read as an excuse not to edit. The story is a bit on the trite side and she struck me as more than a little dingy. The "twists" were more than obvious. I read a lot of good, smart YA fantasy and fiction, so perhaps I have a higher expectation. I've waited a long time to offer even a short review, after re-reading twice. This is a tough one.

Remember the sexy vampire pines for the high school girl craze? This is my favorite from that genre/fad. It leans into it but also I think, is a satire of it as well. It's very imaginative and a blast. It'd make a great movie of TV series.
