An oldie but a goodie. This is a sweet story, that would be good for naptime or quiet time. Good for younger children or older elementary. Reads out loud very well.
My grandma gave me Little Golden Book in the 1980's. The main character is a dog named Rags who looks so cute carrying his little toy dolly around. Unfortunately, as Rags grows from a cute puppy to a massive dog, he becomes misunderstood and undervalued - until he proves his personal worth. Rags encourages readers to develop their unique skills and traits to create a more harmonious community. The book also shows how people can over-react or misjudge.
Favorite Passage: But one day Rags upset a jar of honey into the cash drawer. He began to lick up the honey. He got some sticky dollar bills in his mouth by mistake. He ate up seven dollars! "Now he's eating the very money he's supposed to guard!"
