First Time For Everything had a sweet Harlequin romance feel as to be expected. It was cute, though a little different. I am not yet sure that different is necessarily a good thing...
An uptight rigid lawyer meets way-too-young-for-him hippie wildchild that needs to learn to tone it down a couple notches.
The whole thing starts really fast. As in this strange woman bumps into a lawyer and then playful banter starts up about dating... Really? That was pretty fast. Ok we can roll with that.
Flash mob. Awesome. I like it. Cool way to protest... BUT WAIT!
Arrest? Seriously? What is the crime? Oh, disturbing the peace... isn't that just a ticket? Even if you mouth off to a cop? Yeah, this is the basis to the book....
He's a really good attorney who needs someone to look after his (grown) sister, and she needs an attorney for her "crime". Wow. I'm sure she's sweating bullets over her upcoming sentence... Did I miss something?
But then there is sexual tension... OOOOO Got my interest! When it happened it came out of no where!!! Sweet Jesus! He took her! Against the wall! Didn't even make it to the bed! Woah momma!
I noticed that he had some Dom-like tendencies and I could feel my breathing begin to quicken. Yes! Yes! Yesss!!!!!
But... but, but, but... nothing. Not a Dom. Still a cute book. But I was excited for some darker pleasure... *sigh*
Once they started doin' it, for lack of better words, he kind of softened his demeanor. I kind of liked the intense version.
Okay, the really didn't fit. Did anyone else notice that? It just wasn't quite right. I normally love in books. But this one didn't quite work for me.
Lastly, am I the only one that noticed that he pretty much fell in love with his mom. Come on, our girl is a spitting image replica of her particular version of crazy! Just an observation...

The sexual tension and chemistry in this book was off the charts. The hero was a rebel turned responsible guy while the heroine had scars from a childhood spent in foster homes and was a free bird. Opposites attract tends to be one of my favourite themes and this book has that besides good characterization which worked for me.

I am a sucker for cute rom-coms so First Time for Everything was right up my street. It had everything I like to see in chick-lit. It was funny, sexy and sweet with a great storyline and lovable characters.
Jax and Blake were both awesome. He is straight laced and serious, she is a wild child who refuses to conform. There was nothing I disliked about either of them, they had both had it tough in the past but they were determined to get on with their lives. Instead of wallowing in self-pity they make the most of what they’ve got and manage to be smart, friendly and sweet.
I loved the romance between the, despite being very different from one another there was no doubt that they were meant for each other, they just matched really well and their relationship was full of chemistry.
First Time for Everything is short and sweet with very little to dislike about it. It made me laugh, made me swoon and made me happy.

A match made in hell or heaven ?!?!
Blake is a self- disciplined control freak. He is hiding his passionate nature beneath a coolly authoritative, frustratingly methodical exterior. As a teenager he has been a hell- raiser. Now he is trying to keep the promises he’d made to his father before he’d died, struggling to walk in his father’s shoes.
Jax Lee is temptation with capital T, trouble of monumental proportions. Impulsive. Headstrong. With a mouth to match. Incapable to keep her opinions to herself. She is the woman who has Blake's emotions twisted in knots. But she is also the woman who ll set him free.

This was such fun and delightful read it had me laughing out loud and tearing up at the same time. Read it in one sitting,really could not put it down!
The book focused on always outspoken I bend the rules Jax, she gets thrown together with always a stickler for the rules attorney at law and simply delicious Blake.
He is trying to not be wild and reckless and jump into anything head first or at least anything but bed with Jax. She on the other hand is always up and ready for fun,and has fun causing a "stir". And boy oh boy does she cause a stir in his perfect world.
The characters were both a real delight to read about. Blake was such a real man and reading about how he reveals his fun side and Jax easing him out from his always rules are rules bubble was pure delight!
Off course both have reasons for being the way they are and the author laid that out to me as reader in stunning and vivid clarity.
I loved how the author delved into the real emotions and inner turmoil's that both characters have to deal with past and present and how she incorporates the "what we can do for each other" element.
The dialogue was a really page turner, it kept me entertained, it was fun, flirty and oh so very witty. I loved how Jax gave it as good as she got it right back to Mr. Stick to the rules Blake.
The law vs outlaw element was unique and really so much fun to read, the author not only let me as reader realise that sometimes you need to break a few rules, come out of your comfort zone and learn to have fun in order to find happiness, but also that no matter how hard your past seems there is always someone that will accept you for who you are and love you unconditionally.
I recommend this read not only to romance lovers but to anyone looking for a pick me up,it is guaranteed to not only enlighten you but guaranteed to make you laugh, cry and take away a powerful message.

I love when I pick up a book from a new to me author and I’m immediately caught up in the story. I love when the writing style is welcoming, easy, and flows naturally. I love when the characters jump out at you and you immediately want to be friends with them. And, I love when you know in the first chapter that the book is going to be special and without a doubt you’ve added another author to your growing list of must read authors. First Time For Everything is a spectacular story of two people who at first glance seem so different yet once the layers are peeled away, it obvious how alike they are and how very much they need one another.
I love books with strong female characters, you know the ones that have been through some real challenges in their lives but have emerged fierce warriors ready to take on the world. This describes Jacqueline “Jax” Lee perfectly and when you had in her sarcastic wit, humor, and wisdom beyond her years; you have one amazing heroine. Even though she’s only 23; she’s lived through foster care, self destructive tendencies, and career and personal disappointments. Yet, instead of giving up she finds new and interesting ways to keep moving forward.
When Blake Bennington is literally run over by a young woman outside of the courthouse, he never imagines how this seemingly chance encounter will change his life. He soon finds himself hiring her to help with his sister’s care and representing her in her impending court case. He also finds himself unable to stop thinking about her and the things he’d like to do to her in and out of the bedroom.
It was so hard not to fall in love with these two people. Jax’s love of life and full out attack on everything she does and Blake’s need to control everyone and everything around him from making mistakes. Then there is the intense and simmering sexual tension every time these two are within a mile of each other, I swear the heat coming off these two could keep the North East in heat during a long winter. They try to maintain their distance, Blake really tries to do the right thing but it proves too much and although their first time together has kind of a rough start, they manage to make up for the time they denied themselves in spectacular style. I love how Jax helps Blake to find his happiness, something that’s been missing from his life and how Blake understands how much Jax needs and wants his acceptance of all of her.
Blake’s sister and Mom are great secondary characters and I find it interesting that although they drive him nuts, he’d do anything for them. I also find it amusing that Jax shares their free spirit tendencies, something that causes him great concern.
There is so much more I want to say about this book but I don’t want to give away major plot secrets so let me just say, First Time For Everything is a must read. It’s well written, has a fantastic group of characters including a sassy and strong heroine and a hero that makes mistakes but owns up to them, deals with some real life serious issues, and a very satisfying but not too rushed ending.

March 7, 2013DNF This is a very short book, but even so, after reading about 2/3 of the story, I just couldn't take it any more. This is a "free-spirited woman meets seriously buttoned-up man" romance, and I often like those. However, the heroine is this one is way over the top in her hippie free-spiritedness and the hero just never seemed all that compelling to me. Things in this book start off a little zany (heroine organizes a flash mob in front of the courthouse and gets arrested) and while I could accept this as a cute and fluffy, feel-good story at first, it just kept losing its cuteness.
The book works somewhat as a romp, but then the author starts injecting the angst of everyone's pasts into it, and that just didn't work. The heroine's backstory felt contrived rather than genuinely painful. Even then, I could still keep going until the legal errors kept on piling up. The hero is a prosecutor for the Feds, but the heroine hires him to be her defense attorney in her state court case. Yes, I know we have separate sovereigns and all that vis a vis federal courts/state courts, but I still don't see this scenario working. I don't know too many US Attorneys who would let their AUSAs moonlight as defense counsel. And then there's And after that, this book pretty much lost me.

Cute but forgettable.
That's not necessarily a criticism, either. I imagine regular readers of Harlequin romances aren't looking for the next mind-blowing, award winning read; they're simply looking for a brief but fun romantic escape, and that's exactly what they'll get here with First Time for Everything.
KISS is a relatively new imprint from Harlequin pegged as "...fun, flirty reads featuring smart, sassy heroines, equally matched by 21st century alpha heroes!" and it will be popular with readers looking for relateable modern love stories. It's sensual and sexy, but not too over the top or explicit.
Your romance in this case is between slightly hippyish, cowboy boot-wearing care worker Jax, and uptight but very hot lawyer Blake. He also happens to be older brother to Jax's new BFF and partner in crime, and they meet when Blake sees them starting a flash mob dance routine in the park, which I thought was really cute!
Jax and Blake had plenty of chemistry, and the love scenes really sizzled. The rest of the plot concerning Jax's troubled past, however, I found slightly lacking. I wondered, as I read, if perhaps the idea was not to darken the tone or the fun, sexy vibe by delving too deeply into her issues, or if it was simply that I just didn't feel engaged in this aspect, but either way, that connection lacked and my rating reflects that.

The story is start when Jacqueline a.k.a Jax involved in legal stuff when she did a flash mob in a public place. Savior came in the form of a lawyer named Blake Bennington who apparently is her friend's brother. Blake agreed to become Jax's attorney if she agreed to accompany Nikki at home.
Initially, they set rules no emotion involved, even made it in a legal agreement. It also stated that there'll be no kissing. But the chemistry was already there. Just a kiss that would destroy the seal.
As is typical Harlequin book, First Time For Everything is a simple, sweet, and quite sensual story. I love the way Aimee include Jax's past, as well as Blake's. Past that shape them like now. One live freely, the other is a control freak.
FYI, control freak here is not as Christian Grey (CG) in 50 Shades. Blake is nothing compared to CG and I think that is what made him into a man who is quite sweet for me. Heheheheheh ...
Overall, another sweet and simple romance story by Aimee Carson. For those who need a light reading and not complicated, you could try to read this story =)

This was a cute read. I enjoyed serious and control freak Blake. He is a good lawyer, a man who is striving daily to live up to his promises to his father and this has taken a toll on his spirit. Jax is a wild young girl who is loving and funny and just what Blake needs. He bails her out of trouble and she brought him back to life with her courage her heart and her zest for life.

“First time for anything” è stata un’occasione, un’occasione offertami da Netgalley che non mi lascia mai a corto di romance, e che anzi provvede a mostrarmene sempre di nuove. In questo caso, come mi succede molto, molto spesso, non mi ero minimamente interessata della trama, o se l’avevo fatto, l’avevo rimossa dopo due secondi e quando ho aperto il libro per la prima volta l’avevo completamente dimenticata. Fresco e divertente questo è il romanzo giusto per trascorrere qualche ora in pieno relax.
“Dimmi, suit,” disse, il più leggera possibile. “Come dovrebbe agire una vergine?”
Il nuovo boss di Jacqueline non è altro che il fratello maggiore della sua amica – il super sexy avvocato Blake Bennington. Il suo bisogno di controllare tutto e il suo bisogno, di avere sempre, sempre ragione, di solito farebbero scappare via la fiera e anticonvenzionale Jax – ma anche se anche lei deve ammettere che appare mangiabile nel suo completo elegante.
Realizza immediatamente che è fuori dal suo elemento, ma tentare di far perdere il controllo a questo ragazzo contenuto e pieno di esperienza è una tentazione troppo grande.
Questa è la classica contemporary romance, non c’è nulla di speciale o altamente innovativo, sono gli stessi elementi che vengono rimescolati per regalare una storia che nonostante tutto è molto interessante. Vabbè io non dico mai di no ad una storia d’amore, sono un po’ fissata. In realtà, generalmente, non dico mai di no ad un libro, punto. Nonostante la banalità della storia, di quelle che si trovano in qualunque angolo delle librerie, ma in qualche modo arriva comunque a stimolare il lettore, lasciandogli una traccia, un sorriso e una storia piena di romanticismo. È Jax che racconta le sue vicende dal suo punto di vista, ed è con lei che seguiamo l’innamoramento, l’attrazione spietata e fulminea, di quelle che ti prendono alla gola all’improvviso, che non riesci a tenere le mani apposto, che sei nell’ufficio di lui, con la camicia sbottonata e le maniche arrotolate e non vedi l’ora di spogliarlo. Jax è la classica ragazza indipendente, che non vuole legami, che non hai mai conosciuto davvero l’amore e che si lascia trasportare dal carisma di Blake. Jax non vuole la romance ad effetto con il principe azzurro. Anzi ha i suoi ragazzi a cui badare, il suo programma di aiuto attraverso il ballo e la musica e cerca disperatamente fondi. Ma Blake è una presenza irresistibile, che non può essere negata e che la invita a cedere ad ogni piè sospinto. Blake è il classico uomo dei romanzi del genere. Meravigliosamente sexy, dal fisico scolpito che ti invoglia a saltargli addosso, la personalità scontrosa ai confini del maleducato, l’anima dominante che non cerca il compromesso, ma solo il modo per ottenere ciò che vuole prendendo per sfinimento chi gli si trova davanti. Serio, un avvocato di successo, incline a chiudere un occhio per la sorella Nikki e la madre, finisce per dover porre rimedio a tutti i guai che provocano, senza battere ciglio. Insolente, presuntuoso e certamente serio e poco entusiasta Blake è l’emblema di tutto quello che una donna non vorrebbe, ma da cui viene attirata senza pietà, perché alla fine è proprio quello che vuole. Nonostante l’assurdità di certi comportamenti. Ma alla fin fine come si fa a dire di no ad un uomo alfa che si impone nei pensieri? E una volta che Jax ne ha avuto un assaggio ne vuole di più. È come una droga irresistibile.
I personaggi sono pochissimi e poco funzionali alla trama che comunque si incentra sulla passione travolgente che si sviluppa tra Jax e Blake e toglie il fuoco da tutti gli altri, come nella più classica delle romance. Miami fa da sfondo a questo libro, mentre gran parte delle scene si svolgono nella casa di Blake, a bordo piscina. Insomma in un’atmosfera che invita a saltare addosso.
Il particolare da non dimenticare? Un flash mob con la musica di Pittbull…

“First time for anything” è stata un’occasione, un’occasione offertami da Netgalley che non mi lascia mai a corto di romance, e che anzi provvede a mostrarmene sempre di nuove. In questo caso, come mi succede molto, molto spesso, non mi ero minimamente interessata della trama, o se l’avevo fatto, l’avevo rimossa dopo due secondi e quando ho aperto il libro per la prima volta l’avevo completamente dimenticata. Fresco e divertente questo è il romanzo giusto per trascorrere qualche ora in pieno relax.
“Dimmi, suit,” disse, il più leggera possibile. “Come dovrebbe agire una vergine?”
Il nuovo boss di Jacqueline non è altro che il fratello maggiore della sua amica – il super sexy avvocato Blake Bennington. Il suo bisogno di controllare tutto e il suo bisogno, di avere sempre, sempre ragione, di solito farebbero scappare via la fiera e anticonvenzionale Jax – ma anche se anche lei deve ammettere che appare mangiabile nel suo completo elegante.
Realizza immediatamente che è fuori dal suo elemento, ma tentare di far perdere il controllo a questo ragazzo contenuto e pieno di esperienza è una tentazione troppo grande.
Questa è la classica contemporary romance, non c’è nulla di speciale o altamente innovativo, sono gli stessi elementi che vengono rimescolati per regalare una storia che nonostante tutto è molto interessante. Vabbè io non dico mai di no ad una storia d’amore, sono un po’ fissata. In realtà, generalmente, non dico mai di no ad un libro, punto. Nonostante la banalità della storia, di quelle che si trovano in qualunque angolo delle librerie, ma in qualche modo arriva comunque a stimolare il lettore, lasciandogli una traccia, un sorriso e una storia piena di romanticismo. È Jax che racconta le sue vicende dal suo punto di vista, ed è con lei che seguiamo l’innamoramento, l’attrazione spietata e fulminea, di quelle che ti prendono alla gola all’improvviso, che non riesci a tenere le mani apposto, che sei nell’ufficio di lui, con la camicia sbottonata e le maniche arrotolate e non vedi l’ora di spogliarlo. Jax è la classica ragazza indipendente, che non vuole legami, che non hai mai conosciuto davvero l’amore e che si lascia trasportare dal carisma di Blake. Jax non vuole la romance ad effetto con il principe azzurro. Anzi ha i suoi ragazzi a cui badare, il suo programma di aiuto attraverso il ballo e la musica e cerca disperatamente fondi. Ma Blake è una presenza irresistibile, che non può essere negata e che la invita a cedere ad ogni piè sospinto. Blake è il classico uomo dei romanzi del genere. Meravigliosamente sexy, dal fisico scolpito che ti invoglia a saltargli addosso, la personalità scontrosa ai confini del maleducato, l’anima dominante che non cerca il compromesso, ma solo il modo per ottenere ciò che vuole prendendo per sfinimento chi gli si trova davanti. Serio, un avvocato di successo, incline a chiudere un occhio per la sorella Nikki e la madre, finisce per dover porre rimedio a tutti i guai che provocano, senza battere ciglio. Insolente, presuntuoso e certamente serio e poco entusiasta Blake è l’emblema di tutto quello che una donna non vorrebbe, ma da cui viene attirata senza pietà, perché alla fine è proprio quello che vuole. Nonostante l’assurdità di certi comportamenti. Ma alla fin fine come si fa a dire di no ad un uomo alfa che si impone nei pensieri? E una volta che Jax ne ha avuto un assaggio ne vuole di più. È come una droga irresistibile.
I personaggi sono pochissimi e poco funzionali alla trama che comunque si incentra sulla passione travolgente che si sviluppa tra Jax e Blake e toglie il fuoco da tutti gli altri, come nella più classica delle romance. Miami fa da sfondo a questo libro, mentre gran parte delle scene si svolgono nella casa di Blake, a bordo piscina. Insomma in un’atmosfera che invita a saltare addosso.
Il particolare da non dimenticare? Un flash mob con la musica di Pittbull…

I'm just going to say it straight up now-pure shit. Okay that was a bit harsh, I'm sorry...there were some positive aspects to be fair, just...a lot of it was shit. What did I expect though? Honestly, why would I expect anything different from the usual fluff? I genuinely don't know, maybe I've gone temporarily insane?
Anyway, First Time For Everything tells the sweet story of Jax, a foster kid turned sexual tigress dancing woman who helps other damaged children at a youth club. I won't lie to you, Blake seems very sexy and I wouldn't mind meeting such a sexy man some time in my life. Blake is a controlling lawyer (emphasis on the controlling) who suffered a very traumatic experience at his own hands. After a run in with the police, trying to help the club she works at as it is in danger of closing down due to lack of finances, Blake's sister convinces her to get Blake as her lawyer to represent her in court, as if she is convicted she won't be able to continue working at the club. Tensions fly (and by tension I mean of the sexual kind) and boy does it get hotttt!
Right, things I liked. I did enjoy the chemistry between Jax and Blake and I (sorry if I'm being a bit of a kinky devil here) thoroughly enjoyed the passionate, heated scenes, if you know what I mean. I also liked how cute and fluffy the novel was generally, it was very...sweet is the only way to describe it. Also, I was slightly happy to see that the protagonists sort of did actually have genuine sufferings unlike many characters from romance novels who consider a little slap on the wrist or a bit of hair tugging in the playground as a child to be absolutely traumatizing. But, those are the only things I liked.
Very bad things now. Particularly towards the end, the way the characters spoke was just fucking ridiculous! I mean, really, who the hell says "holy guacamole!" Never in my life have I heard anyone say half the things they said. And if it has been said, how likely is it to come out of the mouth of a ballsy uni student? Jax a lot of the time was completely unreasonable and seemed to be a flimsy sort of woman, though I respected that she stuck by her morals. And Blake...MATE. What is this guy on?! What was the author on?! I found the way he frequently behaved appalling. Who is he to control Jax? Who is he to dictate her life? And why did Jax go along with it? Why is she a "yes" sort of girl? WHY DO THESE AUTHORS ENCOURAGE THIS SORT OF BEHAVIOUR?! WHY!!!
Generally, the book was a decent read and did fill me with some sort of undeniable need to find myself a lawyer but sadly the cons outweighed the pros.

Harlequin Kiss is a very hot & flirty imprint and I've usually enjoyed books from them but this one just didn't work. I was so confused through the story, none of it made sense. It was one of those times where I was so lost figuring out the character details and their work background that I just couldn't grasp what was happening with the story. After finishing First Time For Everything, I'm still not sure what Jax's, short for Jackqueline, job was. Was she a music therapist (?) or some sort of music counselor for foster kids? I have no freaking clue!
The only part I did understood about Jax was that the club where she meets and counsel (or something) these kids was running out of funding and shutting down and she needed to bring awareness to her little program. Her solution was flash mob, which I though was so cool, but somehow she ended up in jail for disturbing the peace (Can you seriously get arrested for that?). Fast forward, she meets the hot shot lawyer who bails her out and bada bing bada boom, sex, tease, tension, love and all that jazz and happy ending. I really didn't care for this book; the girl might be old but she acts so childishly, and the guy (Blake) might be a really good lawyer but he talks too uptightly. Like he was in a courthouse all the time. I was getting a headache because I couldn't keep up with him and his hi-fi words. Just give it a break!
Though I did enjoy the end 30%. Technically, 70 to 90%. The part where we get to know a little background on Blake was really good, I would have loved the old carefree Blake, he sounded so fun. Also, the doctor's visit was hilarious and the only reason this book is not getting a 1 star. I loved that scene! That's why they say, don't mess with doctors. Blake got his lawyer ass handed in a very embarrassing way and I enjoyed watching him lose an argument. Overall, First Time For Everything sounded great in the premises but I wasn't happy with the result. It did have heat, but I wasn't invested in the story enough to care. This book is not something I would recommend.

Loved it, Blake and Jax were awesome.

This was my first read of a Harlequin Kiss and I've gotta say it was a mighty good start.
The combo of that cover and that blurb had me instantly wanting to read this, absolutely and without a doubt. The curb appeal of this book was insanity, this would be a definite and absolute compulsive buy.
Jax and Blake were an awesome couple, all salt and pepper and rich in humor both on their own and together. They had awesome, awesome chemistry and the way they interacted had me riveted, it was that good.
There's an age difference between the characters, Blake is thirty-something while Jax is twenty-something, and I'll admit openly that the hotshot 'suit' and the spunky free spirited woman combo is one of my most loved scenarios.
Their relationship went through all phases, fascination, flirting, yearning, burning hot, deepening and evolving, and the effect each had on the other was lovely. I felt they evolved and grew beautifully together. The one on one was adult and it had great fire to it, but it wasn't the explicit kind. I might have enjoyed that more, hehe, Blake had that smoldering hotness vibe going on.
I loved the tone of writing, third person narrative from his and her POV as we're used to, but they each had their own distinctive voice, and did I mention I loved their humor? The story evolved nicely, it had a good pace and it had this little surprise down the line but delivered a happy ending that I really liked.
I'll admit I'm more into twisted relationships then clear fluffy love, but these characters had my full attention and I loved them and their story.
All in all this was a fun read, playful, romantic, sweet and a treat. If you're into contemporary romance and love the fluffier side of happily ever afters that still pack some punch, I say you've got to try this.

First Time For Everything by Aimee Carson is a contemporary love story involving Blake, a buttoned-up Florida Federal attorney, and Jax, a free-spirited youth advocate from the hard-knock school of life. One senses it's meant to be a cute, fun tale of opposites-attract, wherein one party discovers how to lighten up a bit while the other learns to consider consequences before acting. However, in this story, the development is rather lop-sided.
Blake is a well-meaning fellow with strong reasons for displaying excessive self-control: his earlier reckless behaviors led to tragic results for which he has never forgiven himself. Jax is a good-hearted young woman with an unfortunate tendency to disregard rules and conventions, frequently landing herself and others in hot water. One expects the resulting clash of personalities to be both comical and fiery, which it is; the writer does a good job of illustrating the characters' respective positions. One also expects that there will be enlightenment for both individuals as they grow to appreciate one another's qualities. It may be disappointing to some readers when Blake must do all the changing and accommodating while Jax remains her heedless, headstrong self.
If Jax's lack of growth is supposed to be excused because of her difficult beginnings, then it's an insult to those who overcome adversity by taking responsibility for themselves. The message seems to be that Jax's flakiness is fine because there's always someone who will fix things, and as long as she's liberating Blake from an overdeveloped sense of duty, her work is done. With a surfeit of irresponsibility already abounding in society, it seems an unfortunate message to reinforce, no matter how winsome the character is supposed to be.

Hmmm....I must say that I was a little ambivalent about this book.
The writing itself was good, better than some other books I have read recently, and the premise is one that I usually really enjoy. There's something fun about watching someone break free of their uptight nature because of love's good influence. The romance was believable enough.
However....
Much of the rest of this book didn't really work for me. For one, there's the legal errors (federal prosecutor suddenly becomes a pro-bono public defender, while sleeping with his client, who also happens to be his employee - hello, malpractice!!) and then there's the fact that I just didn't feel anything for either Jax or Blake. There are plenty of people who have survived foster care with soul-deep scars that have gone on to be healthy, mature and responsible adults, and there are also those who've made stupid decisions that have used those experiences to grow and become more rounded people. There just seemed to be too many excuses floating about to justify their behaviour and attitudes.
Oh, and OMG what is with the insta-pregnancy!! I'm sure babies have come around as a result of that particular contraceptive mistake, but it seemed a little out there for me.
In the end, there was too much "wanna-be uber-alpha" attitude from Blake and flighty lack of responsibility from Jax for me to truly connect with the characters and enjoy the story.

This book tell the story of Jacqueline or “Jax” who relented to her friend’s brother requests to be a companion to her; taking care and chauffeur her as Nikki injured herself in an accident and her legs are in a cast. This is in return for Blake’s representation as her defense lawyer. Jax has gotten into trouble when she tried to gain awareness of her soon to be discontinued programs at the centre where she is a part of the counsel by dancing in flash mob in front of court. Being a companion to Nikki is not really a problem for Jax but she seems to be attracted to Blake and she is fairly convinced that he is too. They soon ended up together. But Blake, who have everything in control in his life, is not really comfortable for not being in the driving seat of their relationship.
Both the main characters have pretty different characters; Jax seems to embrace full of her life and is able to let go of her past while Blake is a control freak. He wanted everything to be within his control and if possible, he would reduce all element of surprises in his life. It is fun reading how their relationship on fire with their own principles of life. Am truly enjoyed reading this book very much

It���s entirely possible that this book might have hit all my hot buttons in contemporary romance. Well aside from people sleeping around when they know they���re in love with someone else. If only Blake had slept with someone else while he was trying to get Jax out of his system (which she would���ve forgiven him for��� of course��� because she forgives him for everything. After all, he���s only a man) then the literary rage would���ve been complete. Lasers would���ve come out of my eyes and the book would���ve been burnt to a crisp.
I cannot tell you it���s the worst thing I���ve ever read, and actually in a technical writing skill level sense its better than some of the things I read. Heck, some people would probably think this story is ���cute��� and just the bee���s knees. Meanwhile I���m there trying to punch the characters through my e-reader and grinding my teeth when that fails. Oh and don���t even get me started on how abrupt their ���resolution��� was.

Another good book from the Kiss-line. First Time For Everything by Aimee Carson is a contemporary love story. This book was a quick, fun and flirty read. Somewhat predictable, but it was entertaining to the end.
Jax and Blake are a cute couple. Blake is the serious one, and Jax is the wild, funny one. I loved the romance between them, they were different, yet they completed the other one.
Jax had a hard time, while growing up. Blake is a successful man, who has to deal with his sister and mother all the time.
Jax and Blake had plenty of chemistry, and the love scenes...
All in all this was a fun read, romantic and sweet. If you liked the other books in the Kiss-line, you're gone like this one too.

All in all this was a fun read, romantic and sweet. If you liked the other books in the Kiss-line, you're gone like this one too.

Really interesting tale that had my attention the whole time. The pace was wonderful and the characters engaging. Great dynamic in the relationship that made it very believable. Beautiful storytelling that entertained the whole time!
It had really great flow and did the job of making me think at times. I love a book that taps into my emotions. I am a real sucker for a sexy romance!! I laugh, I cry and I wish the hero were real so he could be mine! LOL
I would love to see more from this author! Definitely one to watch in the future.

In reality this was 2.5 stars for me.
This started out quite a good story, i liked the characters of Jax and Blake and thought their story was quite sweet. You could feel the chemistry reading this and the first sex scene was quite hot.
However towards the end the story fell a little flat. Blake became annoying about his "guilt". Jax becomes a little annoying too, telling herself at various points of the book she is a "warrior" woman but falling apart when things happen. The character kept telling herself she was over her past etc but then would pro-ject those old feelings onto Blake and hear what she wanted when he said certain things.
Overall this was a nice easy read, good for a lazy afternoon.

I actually really liked this story. Jax & Blake were cute, this was very predictable but I still really liked it. There were a few areas that sort of lacked. You knew the timeline took place over moths but if you don't catch the subtle timeline notations in the narration it seems like a few weeks. I also don't like how the characters think things instead of saying them, it seemed like some of the thoughts should've come out. Overall these things are really minor and I was in a mood for HEA which Harlequin books always provide so I deff. got my fix.

Jax and Blake’s story is a mix of funny, sexy and loving. Blake is a serious lawyer while Jax has gotten herself into a legal situation. These two seem so very unlikely to end up together, but they have such a hot chemistry that neither of them can deny what will end up happening, a person only has so much will power.
No small details were missed in this story, extremely well written and easy to picture. I loved every small detail and the ending was far more than I could ever expect.

I finished this book in one sitting and absolutely loved it. Not sure why the rating isn't higher. I guess I identify with Jax and therefore I can see how her actions are plausible. Blake is hot and trustworthy. I like his character immensely and I do admire the opposites attraction theme. This book has just changed my view of Harlequin Kiss series. The other one I read was so sterile and bland that shall not bear the brand 'Harlequin'.

I really liked this book! It was cute and sweet and fun even though it had some of life's twists and turns it didn't stall on them. Jax and Blake are mature, modern, people in some unusual but believable situations. The chemistry between the two of them is undeniable and it is a lot fun watching them grow into the relationship as it tests their personal beliefs and boundaries!

I read this book in a focus group for Harlequin Kiss series. I really enjoyed this book. Like most Harlequin novels it was short sweet and incredibly sexy. There is also a good twist at the end and that's always fun. Good read.
