No power. No internet. No phones. No clue what has happened and worst of all, no people.
The few survivors are alone, stuck in a world where everything they have come to rely on is taken away in the blink of an eye.
Gary, the businessman, in a second chance relationship, trapped with no transport 150 miles from his new partner and desperate to find her.
Emily, her gap year ripped away from her when the power goes out while she sits at the airport alone. Scared and confused, but determined to find her way out and home to find her family.
Helen, a police officer, whose latest arrest disappears in front of her eyes in a cloud of dust. Should she stay and do her duty or go looking for others like herself?
Stephen, whose life has been wasted in a dead end job, reliant on his parents, needs to grow up fast if he is going to find his girlfriend on the other side of the country.
Join them and others as they journey to find their loved ones, themselves, and one another in a world that seems as it ever was, but will never be the same again and where dangers, both ancient and modern, rise to meet them.

Only ok.

This book was A LOT like the 1974 movie, "Where Have all the People Gone," that I saw as a kid. People turning to dust or ash, with a random few survivors. The book has more violence and more "language" and more sex. It was just not as good as other post-apocalyptic novels I've read. I did finish it, but most likely will skip the rest of the series. Some editing issues early on, but that improved.

A hidden teaser

I really enjoyed this book and looking forward to reading the second. Switching back and forth with characters was a little confusing to me at first but after a few chapters everyone got sorted out. A different view in apocalyptic books but well worth the read. I highly recommend.

Good introduction to the characters that must continue on in future books. Some of the plot decisions were a bit forced (prisoner) or extreme (pack of dogs) though, which made me care less about the characters.

Good start to a series

This post ap is set in Britain for a change and is pretty close to how I imagine it would be here. Usually I don't bother reading books set in England but am really glad I started this. There is no huge explosion just people who inexplicably turn to dust. This book gives a sound introduction to a group of survivors who gradually come together. There are no massively dramatic bits in this book, just a solid start to a post ap story. I'm going straight on to book 2 but just hope it doesn't get too super natural as there is one point in this book that hints that it could. Great start to what I hope will be a great series

Decent

The only reason I gave this 3 stars is because I just read a book worse than this one.

Story has promise but instead of developing the characters and getting more in depth I feel as if the author spun a wheel to decide what each character did regardless of their age, maturity, or experience level. Without giving too much away Some of the situations that happen in this book are entirely premature ****woof woof****

So, while I wouldn't rip pages out in a rage (good or bad) I also won't read the next in the series.
Sorry.

Spared

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. At first I thought there are so many characters but the author did an excellent job bringing them together. I am looking forward to Book #2.

5 stars for entertaining and originality. My only complaint is that they keep talking about no food or water. If only 1 person per 100,000 live, the grocery stores and houses should be well stocked.
