I picked this up at my local library to read on a camping trip in Western Maryland. We visited a hemlock forest and the book takes place in Western Maryland. It is about a teenaged girl who moves into a castle in MD and she learns all the local old Scottish customs. This book was written in 1971, and definitely has a dated feel to it (folks use a sleigh and horse to get around on the snowy roads). But the characters are interesting and the story is engaging.

Loved this book from middle school in 1975. Have my own copy now that I share with family...loved by all!
