When her son discovers an injured outlaw in their barn, the mysterious stranger instantly turns widow Daisy Henderson's world upside down. But Daisy senses Thorn Dawson's a good man…and there's more to his story than he can tell her. So she can't turn him away before he heals, even if she's falling for him—something she swore she'd never do again after her husband died.
An undercover lawman, Thorn never lets himself get too close to anyone. But that's before he meets single mother Daisy and her spirited son. Now Thorn has to protect them from the Griggs gang—a gang that's come to accept him as one of their own. And if he can't keep up the charade, the woman of his dreams might just pay the price.

This was a good read - and I loved the way it began! The only real hangup I had was the fact that it was an almost insta-love story, which is confusing given the heroine's background. Additionally, this book is part of a series that features the Spinsters Club in Simpson Creek - but other than a few passing mentions, it wasn't a focus like the previous books.
Unlike most Christian romance novels, this one did not have a focus of forgiveness, but rather trust, in both the Lord and the people who love you. Forgiveness was addressed at the end, and it was a little heavy-handed; I think it could have been presented in a more believable way.
Although this is #9 in the series, each book is a standalone, with small peeks into the previous featured couples. I recommend this story to anyone who likes Christian historical westerns.
Lawman In Disguise by Laurie Kingery takes place in 1870 in Texas. Thorn Dawson is an undercover Texas Ranger to help get evidents against a gang who is robbing banks and more. He ends up being shot when robing a bank. He made it to Daisy Henderson's barn and passes out. Billy Joe is Daisy's 11 year old son. Daisy and Billy Joe think Thorn is an outlaw. He says hes not and to trust him. He is recouping before going back to the gang. Thorn gets a message to the sheriff when the gang is robbing a stagecoach. If all goes good the gang will be caught. Romance happens between Daisy and Thorn. A good Historical Romance.
