Interesting take on the Vampire romance!

I really liked this book and will be reading the next book in the series right away. Davy is an Empath who can easily tell vampires from humans. While most humans have no idea vampires exist.

Vampires have laws against feeding from and killing humans and have hunters within their own community to enforce the laws, but Davy still fears them. She had a vampire stalker in the past so she knows some vampires are evil and don’t follow the laws. Now the vampires are searching for someone from a prophecy, a human supposedly immortal with powers and blood that will keep them from ever being hungry for blood again.

“I’m not lowering myself,” I remarked, and crossed my arms. “I’m just being manipulative.”

This is it...this is where i say goodbye to Tijan for some time. I have tried, with two consecutive novels, and just eventually gave up.

As a paranormal romance novel, "Davy Harwood" is predictable and boring as hell.

Davy faces off a vampire, whom she hates(lusts over), and he is holding captive another guys with his eyes. She's fuming, she needs to do something. Sooooo.... she fists her hands in his shirt and kisses him.

How...very....original.

The background story is barely there, the world-building non existent. I waited for a story, for something to happen, anything...it didn't. Drama, drama, drama, boyfriends, drama...

By the time she had the dream in witch the suicide girl says "I chose you", i knew exactly where this was going. The prophesied Immortal is here, and she has a Destiny to fulfill, weather she likes it or not. Hunted by everyone, but protected by one man alone..

Again, how very, very, very original...

That's it for me...

I didn't enjoy this book. I ended up forcing myself to pick it up to read it... So to me, that's the surest way to know that this book isn't for me. Dnf on this one and won't rate it as it won't be fair.

This is Tijan before Tijan. Am I making sense? I think it's (one of) her first published book(s) (that I know of) and we get another side of her.

The characters are not arrogant or "I do what I want and I don't care if you like it or not" as Mason and Logan from Fallen Crest High series or Carter can be. They are powerful (of course they would! They're vampires, Immortal and other fantasy creatures) and have their own set of rules but I did not get the same "vibes" I got in her most recent books. It does not mean it was bad as I really enjoyed this story and immersed myself in this fantasy world but it did not have "her" classic signature.

Usually, with most writers you can recognize them as they each have their own "style" so it was surprising but not disappointing at all!

I loved Davy as she really is a strong heroine, even if she tries to be "normal" and discreet in the beginning. She has more "presence" than Tijan's other heroines. I don't mean the others are weak or anything but even when Tijan's stories are told from the heroine's point of view, I always remember (or side with) her male characters. They usually make a lasting impression. In this story though, it's Davy I'm "living" with.

The story is imaginative, captivating, has just the right pace and amount of sexiness and intrigue.

And that's why I'm heading for book two right away!

I'll start by saying I enjoy reading all of Tijan's works to some degree, but I usually have difficulty at some point in her novels because I tend to have a hard time liking her main characters, who I find to be pretty hard, cold, and somewhat mean.

That said, Tijan surprised me with this one, and I found myself liking this book more than I thought I would. I was hesitant to begin with and waffled back and forth between reading and not reading before I started it because I usually don't go for the 'supernatural' stories, but evenutally my curiousity won me over and I decided to jump in with eyes wide open.

The premise of the story is interesting, the dialogue is engaging, and the main character was actually somewhat likable, which was a nice surprise for me. She doesn't lay everything out there for you to know; you figure things out as the main character does, and it all makes sense in an odd sort of way that, while I'm not completely comfortable with, seemed to work for the story.

All in all, I liked it. It wasn't the greatest book I've ever read, but I liked it.

This paranormal romance did nothing for me. Felt both bland and alike many other romances I've read over the years. Just had a couple min left of the audiobook but my I decided not to finish it.

From the book cover to the storyline! What can I say I’ve been a fan since the first book I read and she continues to blow me away!

This is a story you’ll rush through and beg to read the next book in the series.

I recommend this book to anyone that loves paranormal romance and action!

Favorite Quote:

Blue got her name for her graying hair that she dyed with blue highlights. She liked that it gave her an out-of-this-world quality although she was very much an earthly woman. Every one of the bracelets jangling on her wrist stood for a cause – pollution, cancer, save the forests, happiness from an orgasm.

This book was ALL over the place. I liked it but you had to really sift through the dialogue because Davy didn’t know what she was saying half the time. She would start a conversation about one thought then jump midway to another without finishing the first thought. It was very confusing at first and lots of it was nonsense that wasn’t necessary for the progression of the story.

Like for instance, the attraction, what the heck was that about? It was like she just threw it in with no rhyme or reason. The story doesn’t change whether she sleeps with him or not. And her so-called friend? I fail to see how they were ever friends. She was snappy, demanding and unapologetic when she was clearly in the wrong. And she was working for the wrong side! Constantly putting her efforts to better herself down, and trying to convince her to stop trying. Who counts that person as a friend? A lot is alluded to with their background but never clarified, which leads me to believe this story had no real back story or origin.

It needs loads of editing and I don’t see myself putting any more effort into it.

Oh My God, that was amazing!! I started reading this book and I was like 'I bet it's going to be good.' But it wasn't, It was great. Such an amazing story, great characters and my goodness, I loved Davy so much. She is the ultimate heroine; she was so cool. And Lucas, although he was an ass in the begin, he redeemed himself and he's totally forgiven. He's so hot. Kates was a bitch but I liked her and Emily was just plain annoying. Anyway, this was an awesome read and I recommend it for everyone. I have to say, Tijan is rising up to be my favorite author. Maybe one her books will get into my Number 1 Favorite shelf; only one book can be in there. Hunting and Losing Lila excepted. Awesome:D!!!

Most people when they hear Tijan's name they think of her Fallen Crest series, for me, I have still to read those. So far, besides Carter Reed, I have read Evil which was a supernatural/paranormal story. I was scrolling through my Kindle as a friend had mentioned Tijan, and again I was aiming to read the Fallen Crest series, but of course, Davy Harwood's cover caught my eye, and I clicked and started this series. The book starts off with Davy - an empath at college, she is working with her roommate at a Lifeline type call center when she receives a note that a girl is going to jump. Davy rushes to the roof and talks to the girl and then she jumps. Soon Davy starts to notice strange things happening around campus as there seems to be an influx in Vampires and her best friend Kates from back home who is a Vampire Slayer is in town. They are all searching for the being known as "The Immortal One." What don't they know is who that person is? What will happen though when Davy meets Lucas Roane - a Vampire who seems intent on helping her not killing her? Has her whole life been a lie or is the prophecy of "The Immortal One" coming true and is Davy - the chosen one? As the story goes along, the lines of friendships and enemies become blurred, and Davy doesn't know who to trust. Personally, I found Davy Harwood slow to start, also a tad frustrating in parts, especially with the whole Adam/Lucas/Davy/Shelley love triangles and the whole college drama. Overall Davy Harwood was a good story which I am looking forward to seeing how it plays out over the next two books in the trilogy.

Update: Still loving it 👌

4,5 Stars!

This was sooo amazing!
I've read a lot of Tijan books and loved them all. I avoided this book because it was paranormal. Don't get me wrong, I love paranormal books. But I wasn't sure if someone who writes kick ass contemporary books can pull off a kick ass paranormal.
And I have to say that Tijan kicks ass with Davy and the Immortal Prophecy!

I was at first a little confused with the story, but stayed open minded and everything started to make sense. And than boom... I couldn't put the book down. It was so freaking good. And Lucas... yummy!!! Hot as hell!

So... we have Davy, who is a freshman at college, when I'm not mistaken and lives on Campus with her roommate Emily, who is slightly annoying.

Davy volunteers together with Emily and Adam for a emergency hotline to prevent suicides.

Davy has a huge crush on Adam and also one of the reasons she works for that hotline. The other reason is her roommate.

Davy has a special ability, she can feel what other people are feeling, she is an empath. This is one of the reasons she wished she could quit working for the hotline. Because she feels all the pain of the people who call the hotline.

Davy is not the only empath, there are many. There are also vampires, some of then are good and live a normal live. Some of them are cruel and evil. And Davy met one very cruel vampire in her past... what makes her huge trust issues towards vampires totally understandable.

But after one fateful night she gets sucked in to the vampire World, where she have to trust Lucas Roane, who is a vampire. And not just only one vampire, but one of the strongest and even feared by vampires, Lucas is a Hunter, a vampire hunter.

I agree with some of the other reviewers. This was a very slow building book but I enjoyed it anyway. Sometimes a book has to much action or it progresses to fast and the book suffers because of it. I look forward to the next book! I loved the characters and I think I'll enjoy watching Davy grow and learning more of Roane. Such a sexy beast.

I've read A LOT of supernatural, paranormal, fantasy, and romance. Because of that I'm often bored when reading a book from those genres. This book was unique because it offered an "other", something different then a witch, were, or vamp. I'm tired of badass witchs and vamp hunters. Enough already!

However, Davy looks to be heading into badass territory quicker then I would have liked. It's no fun when the main character is so powerful that she can't be touched. What's a story without the bad guy? I'm holding out hope that the author has a surprise for me and Davy isn't becoming omnipotent!

What I've read of Tijan's work I have liked.

The characters in this book are likable and have personalities that the reader can relate to. The college students are pretty much what you would expect, but all up the focus is not fully spent on this area. There are friends which prove to be reliable in situations where they are under estimated, and those that you expect to be stand up mates don't always live up to the expectations.

The story begins to unfold and isn't 100% immediately identifiable, although it becomes apparent about half way through, and continues to develop a little more predictably.

The vampire contingent is stereotypical and yes, we're all in love with Mr Sexy Tall Dark and Handsome all over again. Ho hum. This one sticks to the leather, glowering bad boy. Yes, we want him.

I shall see where the next book leads fairly soon, with book three in the coming.

I haven't read any supernatural for a while, and I haven't read any vampire novels for even longer. I'm a massive Tijan fan and I thought I'd give Davy a go.....Wow! Can't believe I left it so long. A bit too involved to describe in depth, but suffice to say Davy is an Immortal and super hot vampire hunter Roane is her protector. They meet. Sparks fly, chemistry is super charged. Fantastic story, brilliant characters. Thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend. Book 2 here I come.

I literally just wrote a BOMB ASS review and I swiped and it zipped away.

I’m pissed....so I’m not writing that review again.

Want a summary? Here:

Conflicted. Missed key details throughout. Hated side characters. Needs purpose in the details. Great concept, but not great execution. Will read rest of series. Liked it. 3.8 star rating.

I’m pissed 😡 like wtf goodreads?! Smhhhhhh
Messing up my reviews here like big time! Unbelievable. Sorry, but I just spent good time writing it and thinking through my detailed review, but nope. Ugh.

This book has everything thrown in it. Main character Darvy is an empath who knows vampires exist and has past drama/trauma with them. Her roommate Emily is naive and innocent and annoying all wrapped up in one.

Side note, I also had an annoying college roommate Emily. She put me on the prayer list at church for being an alcoholic because I went out drinking... on my 21st birthday.

Back to the review. Darcy’s bff Kates is a vampire slayer. There’s a love triangle or square with Davy and her crush white bread Adam. Adam is into mean girl Shelly. Davy has romantic tension with Rowan, a vampire.

When the evil identical twin brother showed up, I got the giggles. It’s like a soap opera.

It’s a lot of fun.

Great Start

Really enjoyed this first installment in the immortal prophesy. Thought Davy was a great character and really liked Roane too. was not to keen on some of the secondary individuals Kates and Emily so annoying and Adam was such a wuss. I was also a bit surprised at how soon Roane and Davy got it on considering he was in love with Talia just seemed a bit soon in the day when your previous love has taken her own life. Other than that fab start to a new series can't wait to get stuck into the next book.

Well I read this as I love paranormal and I also love romances. I recently read Carter Reed and loved it. So I gave this a go. Well I loved it, I read it in one sitting and downloaded book 2 straight away and cannot wait for the next one. Both lead characters are great and the story is getting better and better. Very good read and cannot wait to find out what happens.

Now almost 2 years later I thought that I should read it again and Im glad I did!
It is not my new favourite, but I still enjoyed this book. It is something different from Tijan's other books, because it's a paranormal book.

Not my usual genre

I usually don't read vampire novels. They just aren't my thing. It takes a lot for a vampire book to not be cheesy. But I LOVE Tijan so I decided to give it a go... and thank God I did! I loved this book! Tijan writes on a different level, I swear.

As a fan of vampires, this book is quite an unusual take on the whole underworld/otherworld scene.

And I liked it.
Davy is...special. An empath. Someone who knows when vampires are near.

Typically she can ignore them--and they typically ignore her--but she's shocked when a new guy comes around and seems to see right through her, to what she really is.

I like the draw and the chemistry. The push and pull, the undeniable threads connecting the two.
