After working eight years for the New Zealand Forest Service as a clerk, she decided she could spend at least that much time trying to get a novel published.
Luckily it took five years, not eight, before Fiona wrote her first award-winning novel.
She has won the Australian Romantic Book of the Year award (category section) twice, one of her novels was listed by Romantic Times as one of their all-time top two hundred favorite romance books and she has been featured in Next and She magazines.
Fiona lives in a subtropical South Seas paradise called the Bay of Islands with her two sons.
This book could have been one of my favorites if the author had not spend so much of the book with Kyle mourning his dead wife & son. Up until the very end, he still mourned them, and for me, it took away from any love that he claimed to have of Ava as I felt his wife was his true love - not Ava. That was especially made clear when Kyle dumped Ava when they were teens because of a flimsy excuse to then quickly forget her, fall in love & marry another woman. Ava on the other hand was a heroine I liked - beautiful, strong, independent but a bit needy in gaining Kyle's love.
I loved this story. But it shows how bad it is to keep secrets from people that you love. It shows that you have to trust the people that you love. Glad that it all worked out. Enjoyed reading this book.
