Liars For Jesus: The Religious Right's Alternate Version of American History, Vol. 2

Rate this book
Liars for Jesus debunks many of the historical lies invented and used by the Christian nationalist history revisionists in their efforts to further their far right political agenda and destroy the wall of separation between church and state in America. Liars for Jesus is not a book about religion. It is a history book, setting the record straight by presenting and fully documenting the true stories and historical facts that are distorted in the "Christian nation" pseudo-history of our country.

Better Then the First

Volume 2 is much better than Volume 1. The book is much more organized and the author no longer goes overboard with long quotes. This book is clear and easy to read. I hope she writes more like this.

Interesting book. A bit hard to read, and it is a bit unclear why it is harder to read than it should be. The author provides detailed information showing why the US was very much a secular nation at its founding. The religious right seizes on a small number of ambiguous quotes to claim that the US was founded as a Christian nation. This book debunks the notion that we intended to make Christianity official (some groups today are trying to turn the US into a theocracy).
