GOIN' TO THE CHAPEL

Detective Lucas McGill never walked away from trouble -- except when trouble came in the form of a certain pint-size lady lawyer. Personally, Luke didn't like J.D. Anderson. Unfortunately, his body did. And somehow he'd managed to entangle himself in her latest case.

J.D. couldn't figure out why her sworn enemy had suddenly agreed to help track a killer to Las Vegas. Reluctantly posing as an engaged couple, J.D. and Luke murmured endearments through gritted teeth ...until the charade took a perilous turn when the wrong people grew suspicious. With their cover about to be blown, J.D. and Luke faced deadly consequences ...unless they went to the chapel of love and got married--for real!

This was a decent read that featured a romance between a homicide detective and defense attorney. Both the h/H are in their late 30s and divorced with terrible marriages behind them. They are thrown together when one of the heroine's prospective clients turns up dead and they uncover a blackmail ring and the heroine's life is thrown in peril. Once the characters do decide to come together they fall in love fairly quickly. Not a bad read.

An easy interesting read
Except why were a seasoned homicide cop and an experienced defence lawyer so stupid; that just spoiled it for me.
Spoiler alert:
They get a court order to open the bank deposit box with all the evidence and take it straight into police custody? No way, they are too smart. They take it to his supposedly secret house and paw through it all. Then he leaves to take some to HQ and tells her to put the rest in the back of the closet. Huh. Now I am not a cop but truly!
Then instead of waiting for a guard for her, cause the baddies are trying to kill her and get the evidence, she persuades him to just go cause she does judo and has his gun.
So he leaves, baddy comes to door, she just pulls it open because obviously he forgot something. Duh!
Then it was just unrealistic
