Lenore Glen Offord (1905-1991) was a reviewer and author who wrote mysteries set in and around San Francisco, CA. Offord was the mystery book critic for the San Francisco Chronicle for over 30 years, as well as an avid Sherlock Holmes enthusiast.
Warm-hearted Barby Wyeth is troubled that something seems to be bothering her new roommate at the Ashland Shakespeare festival. For one thing, accidents seem to happen around Margaret; for another, she seems really shaken when it's announced that another girl from her college was found dead in Berkeley. Fortunately, Barby's stepfather Todd lives in Berkeley, and has a way with a puzzle. Offord combines a novel about a theater festival, a love story, and a complex mystery. This is one of my favorites.
