Dark Horse Inc. #2

Catching Cara

Rate this book
Single father and sheriff’s deputy, Joe MacDonald, always puts his family and friends first. When Rick Evans, head of Dark Horse Inc., asks a favor, Joe doesn’t hesitate to jump in and lend a hand. When he arrives to assist Dark Horse’s newest member, he’s surprised to find a pretty little damsel in distress. But not everything, or everyone is as they seem.

Cara Gregory is on her way home to care for her ailing mother. She’s just a few miles outside of her hometown when her trouble begins. With a wealth of bad memories, a ghost from her past and enough mama drama to sink a ship, she’s up to her eyeballs in bad news. Sometimes even the strongest and most capable women need a hand and when a sexy as sin sheriff’s deputy appears, it’s awfully hard to say no. Especially when danger comes knocking at her door, putting them all at risk.

Catching Cara is the second book in the Dark Horse series. This series must be read in order as their plots are interwoven. We won't find the answers in this book as it does end with a cliffhanger.

The author does a good job with the drama and suspense surrounding Cara, Joe and the entire team.

Joe is a single father of a six year old who puts family first. This was evident in book one , Protecting Kate. Due to his career as a Sheriff's deputy he's also on the front line to protect his town from evil. There are people in town looking to hurt the youth, the community and more specifically Cara. One look at Cara and he's smitten with her. He wants to shelter and protect her too but she's a solider and can stand on her own.

Cara is strong, dedicated to her team and can't help falling for Joe and his daughter. I liked her as a character. Her and Joe were a great match together. They had an immediate chemistry that worked well from a love story as well as a suspense read.

Looking forward to reading the outcome in Finding Leigh.

Once again Amy J. Hawthorn hooked me from the very first page with CATCHING CARA. I was flipping the pages like a mad woman on a mission to find out what was going to happen to Cara and Joe. The cliff hangar at the end is huge and I can't wait to read the next book in this awesome and extremely hot series. Amy sure knows how to get your juices flowing and keeps you on the edge if your seat through out the story. I fell in love with Joe's daughter Kylie from the very first pages and the way Joe loves her and protects is going to pull at your heart strings just like he did to mine. Now Amy, where is the next book? You left me hungry for more!!

Sheriff’s deputy, Joe MacDonald didn’t hesitate to jump in and lend a hand when the head of Dark Horse Inc. asked a favor but he’s surprised to find that their newest member is a pretty little damsel in distress or so it seemed in this exciting romantic suspense. There was quite a bit of excitement going on in this story with some surprises that I didn’t see coming, so I was completely caught up in Cara and Joe’s romance from beginning to end and what happened toward the end in the battle with the bad guys sure caught me off guard, so I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Odio i cliffhanger...

Dark Horse Inc

Cara Gregory is coming home to care for her mother after she had surgery. Cars is a TH and knows her way around recovery but her mother is a stubborn woman. When she gets caught in a storm, which she is afraid of, and slides off the road she calls her army buddy to help.
Joe MacDonald lives not far from where she is stuck a d when asked to go help her by Rick he is happy to help. Being a sheriff's deputy he is used to it.
Cara is one of the team that makes up the Dark Horse bunch. A group of gets helping where needed to keep the country strong and safe.
I loved this story and will be looking for next book in this series.

Good romantic suspense

I really enjoyed reading Cara and Joe's story. Their relationship grew through sharing themselves and even when Joe worried that bringing someone into his life would hurt his small daughter, love won out. I'm glad Dark Horse took care of part of the problem, not so happy about the cliff hanger, but that doesn't involve Joe and Cara, who have their HEA.

Once again another great book. Also once again another cliffhanger. Will have to purchase the entire series I think to get to a conclusion.

Full of Action

I love the 2nd book as much as the first. Each character has something special to bring to the series. Cara and Joe are such different yet just fit right.

As the story from Saving Amy continues, Catching Cara can stand entirely on its own. Without giving too much away, the suspense is there to pull you in, the desire from the characters helps you want to plow through to know more, and the end leaves you with a WFH.......where is the next book. The book was easy to read and the story keeps a good pace, never getting boring. NOW where is the next book. I have idea for the title but that would be a spoiler.
Enjoy the story and the characters.

Another Great Dark Horse Installment!

I really like this series from Amy J. Hawthorn! The characters are really engaging and I am loving the adventures that this group of ex-military comrades work through. I especially loved that the heroine, Cara, was such a kick-butt chick! It takes a strong man to take on such a fierce female and Joe is that guy. His little girl will melt your heart, too.

Fantastic

I love this series! This is the 2nd book in the series and I have seen some reviews say they can be stand alone, but I don't agree. You need to read in order to get all the background info. The editing could be better, but the story line is fantastic. I cannot wait for the third book..... maybe Rick's story???

This is a great continuation of t he series, but it ends on a cliffhanger for what I'm assuming is the next couple in the series, hurry on up and write that book, please!!

Good read

At first you are not sure what is going on or who the characters are. A lot of conversation is lumped together, a good re-edit could fix. The story once you can follow is fast paced and intriguing in its complexity.

Really?

The story is ok, even has its good moments. But it just ends with no resolution, nothing tied up. If this is supposed to be a cliff-hanger, the author falls far short. Then there is the Epilogue which must have been for another story? It didn't fit with this one.

Good romance and good suspense. I was disappointed by the extent of the cliffhanger, though. It felt like being left at the edge of a cliff. Too bad because I really like the characters.

Cara

Just a heads up warning, this book ends in a cliffhanger. Otherwise it was great. Cara & Joe seemed like real people I'd like to meet. 👍

Second in series. Best if read in order. Picks up where Protecting Kate left off. Joe gets involved with the Dark Horse Inc. again and meets Cara whom he had rescued when her car went off the road. When Joe's family is targeted he and Cara get closer as they and the Dark Horse Inc. try to get to the bottom of the trouble that has hit town. This book ends with a heck of a cliff hanger so book three is already on my kindle.

Love a story with a single-dad who has a cute kid, a badass h that can hold her own. But the h's mother was the best with her one day her hip is killing her and she can barely get out of bed to the next when she can move about no problem and plot so that she can help her daughter find a man
