Cracker Shack
Cracker Shack is a coming of age young adult novel. Labor Day 1969. Two teenage boys from Westview Florida, who were best friends since kindergarten, have learned they won’t continue on to high school together, after they both graduate from Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) Catholic school in Opa Locka, Florida. Jimmy Aiello, best friend of Blake Nathaniel Prescott, will move away with his family in August of 1970, to their new home in Coral Springs, Florida. This is a story about inseparable friends and their final school year and summer together, camping out in their backyards, spying on Blake’s mysterious neighbor, dating girls for the first time in their lives, and nearly getting themselves killed when they finally discover what Blake Prescott’s neighbor Mr. Cornelius Cracker, was doing inside of his shack that measured, 6 feet deep by 6 feet wide by 7 feet tall.
