Some decisions are easy to make, especially when it comes to the well-being of your mate. Even if the decision means ending the life of another... Just when Shawnee thought her life would finally settle down, an unexpected visit from Vanessa's family sparks an unraveling of a different sort. The visitors bring news that the Pride is in trouble. Dugan, a weretiger who relentlessly bullies the most vulnerable members, threatens to take over. Shawnee returns with Vanessa to her homeland and, with the help of Xany and an unsuspecting submissive, works to bring down Dugan before he dismembers the Pride. Can Vanessa stand up to her nemesis and restore the Pride to safety? Will she break under the pressure, or can Shawnee protect her mate from the torment? Shawnee quickly learns to draw on the strength of her pack family and with a keen bit of luck, may very well be the key to saving the Pride and her mate.

Max grew up just outside of New York City, spending most of her formative years outdoors creating wild ghost hunts with neighborhood kids, setting booby-traps to capture unwitting family members, and building clubhouses on top of ten-foot walls. Max wrote her first story at the age of twelve and titled it Circles of Friendship. Through the years, Max has written several short-stories and poems, all of which met the wrath of the “Not Good Enough” monster and ended in fiery demise.

Max regained her confidence when she began writing scholarly articles and research theses on her first trip through graduate school. It took several years for her to break the habit of the formal writing that marred her creativity. An additional Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing was Max’s biggest support in this. Max writes primarily sci-fi/fantasy, paranormal romance, and Young Adult stories.

I can safelly say that this one is my favorite of the series so far!
There was some distasteful scenes and some lost opportunities, but it was great overall it really made me feel some strong emotions.
I liked how there seems to be a bit more balance to the relationship now, Xany's character development was great.
On to the next one!

Excellent

This story showed Shawnee growing stronger still within her pack as well as the pride. The challenges faced by both Shawnee and Vanessa to overcome Dugan's continued threat to the pride and Vanessa's well being were interesting and frustrating at the same time, as Vanessa kept showing signs of weakness in his presence. But defeat was sweet and the outcome sweeter still.

Solid enough book. I do not really have much to say - hence my long delay in actually writing anything in the review box.

Vanessa's past intrudes into the happy little pack's life, and they all spend time in Ireland with Vanessa's pride (wolf - pack; cat - pride). Though, technically, only Vanessa and Shawnee are 'officially' there, while Mal's hiding in a cabin, and the other two pack members, Caden and Xany pop over, because, you know, there's no way they wouldn't pop over. I mean, it literally just involves leaning towards a window and you are instantly teleported anywhere else in the world (I'd say 'as long as you have a good picture of the place', but technically a shifter can 'bend' anywhere - having a 'good picture' just keeps you from landing inside a wall or the like).

Right, so, this really mean asshole guy who has terrorized Vanessa since the dawn of time (so to speak) has made things 'bad' in the pack. He's an out of control rogue asshole, but no one is 'taking him out' because the head cat person forbidden it (and that matters because of power dynamics - they literally can't lift a finger against this Dugen (sp?) person because of the order). Vanessa gets called back home because of these troubles - because Vanessa isn't under this 'command' and because, even if the head dude had tried to give this command to her, she'd probably just brush it off (she's a quite powerful kitty; she does have problems around Dugen, though - she might be more powerful but . . . he bullied her one too many times for her to be able to just whack him).

Right, so - time spent in Ireland with cats. Time spent in Utah with wolves and vampires (and another cat). Traumatic stuff happens here or there.

As noted, solid enough story.

Rating: I forget what I originally thought/rated, but it was something around 3.75

3.75 this is the third book in the series. I think this is probably the most well written book so far. I will finish the series out, they are some pros & cons to this series, hopefully the final book can be the deciding factor.

In Sacred we are introduced to a wide variety of characters from ware tigers, to ware wolves, and don’t forget the breeders. Even being introduced to all of these characters it is very easy to see that Vanessa, Mal and Shawnee. This story is told from the point of view of Shawnee alone, and I find that very different but welcoming. Usually I have found that the story is told from the point of view of the main characters no matter how many there are. This one follows Shawnee (Dr. Twofeathers) and her relationships with Mal and Vanessa.

I found this story well written and very easy to jump into. Even though it follows multiple people throughout the book and was flawless how the author would go from one issue to another between the characters. Just like most books there was one point where I felt like yelling “just get it over with,” however frustrating that was too me I was still intrigued and refused to put the book down. All the characters in the story are likeable and easy to relate to in some form. Not necessarily the paranormal aspect (hehe) but in the family and the bonds that they all create. There is also one point in the book when they are all traveling and I found the transition from Utah where the story starts to Ireland very seamless. Even the environment and the situation that they are going to help with are explained in such detail that it is easy to visualize what there surroundings might look like.

Just like most romance stories there are a few love scenes between the main characters that had me fanning myself. There are m\f and f\f relationships within Sacred but they are vary tastefully done.

All and all a wonderfully written book that I wouldn’t mind reading more about.

Sacred is the third book in legacy series.
Vanessa, Shawnee and Shawnee's pack travel to Ireland (Vanessa's home) to help Vanessa take down Dugan a member of the pride who is a really bad guy that caused a lot of trouble.

This book is fascinating, awesome and sensual.. and it all came together in a perfect balance!!! It's an adrenaline rush from start to finish.. it has just the right amount of each component that keeps you locked into the story!!!
It has fascinating histories about the packs and prides, sensual moments between Shawnee and her two mates (Vanessa and Mal) that's really beautiful and sexy but not overly done!
There's really awesome scenes where the character's have to kick butt.. one moment your holding your breath in anticipation and the next your throwing your hands up in the air and cheering them on!
I loved everything about the book! I really felt like we got to learn more about each of the character's in this book like they finally started to trust us readers with their stories and they couldn't wait to tell us some of their secrets! What a beautiful experience it is to be given this opportunity as a reader!
I really can't wait for the next book to see what happens next!!!!!

This is my first introduction into this series, but it was easy to understand what was going on. I love the very colorful characters, everyone seemed well developed and even without the backstory it was easy to know who the characters are and how they relate to each other.
Ok, I do have a complaint. This book seems to have more sex scenes than plot. Every few pages was yet another sex scene. Now, don't get me wrong, I like reading a good sex scene in a book, but these just seemed to numerous and took away from the story.
Also, I didn't understand why it took any of the characters that long to know about the candy. I figured out what was happening immediately, and I think the audience is smart enough to not have to be led by their noses to get to the issue.
I don't want to spoil the book for anyone, as I really did enjoy reading it. I'm sure I would like to read the rest of the series, even with to many sex scenes.
I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. I was not paid in any way, and all opinions are my own.

It seems that relationships aren't easy, and they have their ups and downs, even for Shawnee, Vanessa and Mal. And that's ignoring everything else that wants to go on in their life, this time being Vanessa's pack in Ireland.

There is hurt and pain, and recovery and growth. There is one particular event in this book that really stung, and it becomes pivotal for events that follow. But even still, they do manage to get beyond that, grow closer, and develop the bonds that are special to them.

It isn't always an easy read, but it is enjoyable all the same, and it is good to see some of the threads from previous books be looked at and addressed. While there is a focus on the werecats in this one, it is still a story about the entire pack, and everything that they are going through. And when they finally get what they've been after for so long - so good!

Story is great however there are flaws

This book- the writing is better and easier to follow than previous. However, the book still has some plot twists that lead nowhere. The one thing I must say I do not like about this book compared to the others in the series- the main character has severe mental health issues caused by abuse and suffers from panic attacks, etc. The past two books did an excellent job of painting an accurate portrayal of ptsd from physical and sexual abuse and the resulting consequences. This book it’s like they disappeared. All of a sudden she is magically cured. Which could happen from “alpha magics” one would guess but that wasn’t mentioned. Overall an intriguing read.

I'm annoyed. How does each book in a series get better than the last? Maybe it has to do with my investment in the characters? Or how loose ends are wonderfully tied up? Or how new plots drive character arcs so seamlessly? I adore the writing. I cannot get enough of this family and mate bonds and super natural angst and all the things. It's just so darn entertaining that loosing myself in this little world for hours is immeasurably pleasurable. Cheers to a great 3rd edition... now onto the 4th.

If you enjoyed the first two books you’ll enjoy this - more developing romance and learning about the characters past. It took a while to get into the story but once the action started I couldn’t put the book down.
