Dominic Hurley is presented with a mission—by a lion who changes into a man. Can he fulfill destiny's wishes without bringing himself harm?
Dom is an average guy, working in a book packing company and getting through his boring life the best way he knows how. One Friday night, after sinking one too many beers, he finds an animal on his apartment balcony window—an animal that changes his life.
Levian Brooke is that animal, although he’s also one sexy-as-hell man. He has arrived in London to make Dominic his mate—and to get Dom’s help in a quest to free one of Levian’s family members from London zoo.
Dominic is drawn into the seedier parts of his beloved London in his search for someone to create fake passports so Levian can return to where he came from. A sinister element find out his involvement in Levian’s quest and come after him.
It’s a race against time and a fight for his life as Dominic finds inner strength to do things he’d never even dreamed about.
Sarah Masters is one of three pen names I write under. Sarah mainly writes m/m. Natalie Dae writes het erotica, while the third, Charley Oweson, writes thriller/horror/suspense books with no sex.
Ok paranormal m/m romance about a London man who sees a lion change into a man on his fire escape. Little does he know that things are going to get stranger after that... This was obviously the first book in a new series (things were left really open-ended), but I can't say that I have any interest in reading future books.
This is a bit different than a typical shifter story. The way that it is written took some time for me to become accustomed to. I definitely liked how the MC was required to take charge and "prove his worth" with this quest. The Lion shifters didn't act like I though Lion shifters should act but I chalked that up to their hands being tied to "what is written". I think that I would clobber someone too if that was the answer that they kept on giving.
All in all, it was an enjoyable read though it really started to pick up for me at the half way point.
I was enjoying the book. It was witty and fun at times but by the time the book ended nothing was resolved at all. We were never even told what this 'quest' was or had any resolution of any of the obstacles or problems. I can only assume that there will be a sequel considering it ended in the MIDDLE of the story. I have to say that I doubt that I will even read it if it does come out.
I didn't hate it, I didn't really like it either plus I didn't finish it, I would say I lost interest but to be honest I didn't work up any real interest to start with.
This is a review of the updated & revised version issued January 2016.
So, the last thing you expect to see on your fire escape on a Friday night is a lion, especially one that turns into a man right in front of you.
Suddenly the weekend is not so boring and Dom finds himself on a quest of a lifetime. If this all goes to plan not only will he be saving lives but changing the course of his life. Busting lions out of London Zoo, being chased around by thugs, dealing with 'dodgy' characters is all in a weekends work!
I am no normally a huge fan of shifter stories, but I did need to know what happened next, so I count this as a page turner!
There was a bad case of insta-love and the plot was just all over the place, with too many things that weren't explained. Although I imagine there is a 2nd book to be released that should answer these unresolved plot points, this book just wasn't for me.
Even if it was insta-love I somehow liked the story. But the absolutely open end without resolutions left me hanging and my only reaction was: Wth? That's it? That's the end?
A fast paced M/M story with a difference. Dominic never thought about being someone's mate, especially when that someone turns out to be not entirely human! A great fun, short read with lots going on.
