From here on out, the Nicki Sosebee series is getting darker.
BUCKLE UP.
Like a dog with a bone, Nicki cannot help but continue to pursue realtor-turned-politician Gina McCafferty as the woman persists in making her play for Winchester's open City Council seat. But Nicki is learning over and over again that there is more than meets the eye when it comes to her fair city. Meanwhile, her personal life is topsy-turvy, and a tattoo artist named Hunter makes Nicki’s life a living hell.
Alliances are tested. Lines are drawn. And events are set in motion that will play out in deadly ways…
Jade C. Jamison writes steamy contemporary romance that’s full of heat, heartbreak, and hard rock. Known for emotionally raw rockstar romances, sizzling billionaire stories, and unforgettable second chances, Jade delivers passionate stories with fierce heroines and brooding heroes.
When she's not writing, she's jamming to metal, sipping strong coffee, or spoiling her pets and family. Whether set in small-town Colorado or on tour with a band, her books take readers on an intense, romantic ride—one story at a time.
This series is continuing to build momentum as Nicki tries to find the stories hidden within her town's political underbelly. Hiding behind its wealth, the town is slowly starting to reveal its secrets but it's down to Nicki to unearth them and to try to topple those in power.
Just when you think Nicki has enough in her plate though, she finds herself in yet another love triangle. With herself and Sean firmly placed in one corner, this time the other corner is taken up by her latest love interest and local tattoo artist, Hunter Landry. He may sound like every girls dream with ink and a piercing to shock your Grandmothers, but Hunter soon starts to show his true colours but never fear, Sean is still at hand to save the day, if not Nicki’s heart.
As forewarned, Lies has a darker, deeper and altogether sexier edge to it and the boy next door feel has become something altogether more sinister which, call me twisted, I loved. I initially sat up and became EXTREMELY interested in Hunter but then my interest plummeted and I soon found myself wanting Sean to come to Nicki’s rescue once again.
As normal, Nicki continues to balance two jobs but with the Newspaper making cutbacks and the restaurant still struggling under its new ownership, Nicki has some difficult decisions to make.
I can't wait to read on in this series, I really do think this is Jade's best series to date!
*Re-read April 2017
This ebook was kindly provided by the author prior to release date in return for an honest and unbiased review.
4.5 amazing stars!! OMG.... I have missed Nicki Sosebee!!! Throughout this amazing series we have seen Nicki grow up into the intelligent woman she is now. That doesn't mean that she doesn't get herself in messes and situations, it just means that she is now thinking through situations instead of just going in blindly. That is really refreshing to read, and to love the character even more as each book progresses!
Jade definitely ups the bar in intrigue, danger, and HOTNESS!! Although my heart is still broken that Nicki and Sean are not together, that doesn't stop Sean from protecting Nicki, and Nicki from needing Sean. But in the meantime there is some definite hotness with a dominant tattoo artist!
Nicki is also growing strides as a journalist. Although there is a shakeup at the paper, Nicki sticks to her guns and dives deep into a story to expose the bad guys and make her home a safer place to live. You know that this is not going to be without bumps and danger, and Nicki is still headstrong in trying to divulge the truth!!
Ahhhhh Jade... I need some more Nicki, like yesterday.. and heal my heart with Sean and her... plz!
I receive this book from the author for an honest review.
*Big breathe in and out* OK…way intense reads…….
*Big Smirk* NICKI IS BACK!!
*shakes what my momma gave me because this series is amazing*
OMG Do I love her and man have I freaking missed her!!! I think what I love best about Nicki, and I have probably said this before, is she is totally a chick I wanna be friends with. She is so like me at times with the big doe eyes and believing people are good but then realizing that they are NOT good. Sean is her true love and sounding board who really does a lot to help her with her latest and continued mystery.
Nicki is still investigation the police and politicians from the last book. Sean has meet up with some new guys who are giving him some inside information about the corruption she is investigation. She is dealing with the paper consolidating and her beloved Napoli’s falling even further down into a bankrupt business. Nicki is having a lot of personal soul searching with her and Sean plus all her other childhood friends are making changes to their lives…some good changes and some not good changes *tear*
I don’t want to go into the plot too much because there would be definite spoilers but holy hell the introduction of Hunter had my heart racing for MANY different reasons at different times in the book. He is the right guy at the right time or is he too good to be true????? Seeing Jesse again made my tummy flutter but every scene with Sean made me Swoon and Sigh...yep #TeamSean all the way!!!
I make no secret of the fact that I love Nicki Sosebee...she could have been me 30 years ago...not quite but almost =) In this 10th book of the series (wow...I can't believe I have read that many) she is mourning the loss of her relationship with her beloved Sean, not quite celebrating another birthday, finding other former loves have moved on, discovering that her comfort zone at work may be stretched to the max and has become smitten with a hotter than hot, sexy new dude...tattoo artist Hunter. Working on yet another possibly dangerous lead for a new investigative story puts Nicki in the sights of crooked cops, shady businessmen and would-be politicians who have much to hide. This one was full of sexy time, emotional turmoil, friendships being tested and a more vulnerable Nicki who tries to stay the tough chick even when she becomes victimized by someone she wants to trust. Excellent new addition to the series and definitely now one of my favorites!
***** 5 ***** "life kicks you when you're down but get back up girl!" stars
If I could pick a new BFF Nicki Sosebee would be her. She's just so amazing. Always with a Bullshit detector on, she is trying still to prove that Cecil Montgomery is a dirty politician. Plus she is also trying to prove that he has a line of dirty cops in his back pocket. She is doing all this and still trying to do her job at Napoli. (A town favorite) Jade has taken Nicki in a bit of a different direction. No spoilers. But I can say that readers will be floored at Nicki.
Wow, can you believe that we are up to #10 already in the Nicki Sosobee series?
We follow on where the last book finished up, so you will need to have read the previous books before Lies.
I would like to think that Nicki and I would be great friends in real life. She is ballsy, she is smart - but she is also smarting from the demise of her relationship with Sean.
But nothing can keep a good woman down, and even with all the crap that is going on in her life, she is still up-and-at-'em, still trying to sniff out what the deal is with Cecil Montgomery. Still trying to move on in life, even when at times it seems determined to keep holding her back.
Enter Hunter Landry - sexy as sin tattoo artist. I really liked Hunter at first, but as the story progressed.....
As events occur in Lies, Nicki comes out the other side with what may seem like more vulnerability, but is really more strength to her. Lies took a turn that I was not expecting, but that is all the more reason to love the Nicki series, and Ms Jamison as an author.
Although with that ending, Ms Jamison certainly left me wanting more.
Can't wait to see where the adventures of Nicki Sosobee take us next.
I’ve put my foot in it again and started at the back end of a series, yep I know I deserve a sound slap upside the head but it is too late now, so I am taking a good look at this book and this book alone in this review and will back track to the rest of the series in a day or so. I’ve no idea what the heck went on in the last book but dang that first chapter of this one was a doozy, I was crying before I could get to the last word and had my fingers crossed that I was going to be able to survive the rest of the tale. This was a very emotional story but it wasn’t all plain sailing. Nicki is on the hunt for clues as to what exactly is going on with Cecil and Gina, I was quick to pick up on the fact that she was knee deep in her investigation but that investigation was littered with danger. She can’t afford to take anything at face value and she certainly has to be economical with both the truth and who she can trust, and to be honest I actually think if I had been her I would have just refused to talk to anyone, it was all so complicated. Who would have known that her small little town would have held so many deviants, so much corruption? I really hate dirty cop stories, and No I am not saying I hate this story, let me clarify, I fully understand that these fallen good guys make exceptional baddies and the author had that part nailed, but people who have sworn to protect, to uphold our laws succumbing to illegal activities of any kind just get my back up, I hate dishonesty and they seem to personify that for me. But what about Nicki, I actually liked her, I liked her tenacity, her determination and boy did she need to draw on every single drop of that, throughout the book, because time and time again she was back to the wall, life really was playing a cruel game with her and from what I could see I think life was doing its utmost to break her. This was an intriguing read for me, but that is my own fault, I will re-read in order after I have finished the previous stories and I think that I will get more from the story, following the timeline that the author has set for it but what cannot be denied is the quality of the writing, the execution of the characterisation and the detail with which the author brings the story to life. I faltered with this book not the other way round, but I will say that despite my clumsiness, this was a really good book, but the series should be read in order
Oh Nicki, Nicki, Nicki…I have missed you!! And, of course, you come right out of the gate and tear my heart out and make it bleed for you. I mean, Jesus, I was in tears before chapter one ended! Talk about an emotionally twisting ride from start to finish. And what a ride it was, one that is sure to continue all the way to the end of this series.
Nicki is just beginning to scratch the surface with her investigation into Cecil Montgomery, Gina McCafferty, dirty cops, and the behind the scenes dealings in her quaint little town of Winchester. More than ever she needs to be careful – she needs to be careful who she trusts, who she talks to, confides in. She still has her friend on the police force, Detective Nathan Wright, but after an enlightening, thought-provoking, partnership-in-the-making meeting with Janice Breaker, she begins to wonder which side Nathan is truly on.
Nicki’s personal life has been turned upside down and inside out. She’s trying to maintain her strong, independent, don’t-take-crap from anyone demeanor, but life is throwing curve ball after curve ball at her, pulling her emotions in many directions, and it is breaking her down. We see Nicki more vulnerable than we ever have and to see her trust violated just adds to the emotional rollercoaster ride.
As Jade mentions in her blurb… Alliances are tested. Lines are drawn. And events are set in motion that will play out in deadly ways… AARGHH I can’t wait for the next book in the Nicki Sosebee series: Dead Bodies Everywhere.
Lies is book 10 in the Nicki Sosebee Series. This is an amazing collection that you have to read - I highly, highly recommend it. These are not stand alone books and should be read in order.
Series: Nicki Sosebee #10 Category /Genre: Contemporary Romance, Erotic Romance, Romantic Suspense Recommended for: 18+ due to sexual content Received from: Jade C. Jamison (beta reading) Grammar/editing: book received as an unedited ARC / errors excused
This is the tenth in the Nicki Sosebee series and they do need to be read in order.
It feels like we have waited forever for the next book in this series. Jade Jamison has made sure that what she presented to us was worth the wait!
Nicki’s life continues to be filled with hot men and amazing friendships, but the real fire lies in her investigative reporting. In this book, she finds herself questioning all of her relationships – personal and professional. We can only hope that the future finds that she is not the one to be burned any more than she already has been.
I love Nicki and I’m still team Sean. To say any more about her sex life would be giving spoilers. Suffice it to say that Nicki is still Nicki with no apologies given or needed.
The bad news is that I reached the end and wanted to scream in frustration that it was the end of this episode. The good news is that Jade has (semi) promised that we will not have to wait too long for book 11. DEAD BODIES EVERYWHERE is not just the title – I expect it will be a telling forecast.
Oh God how I have missed Nicky Sosebee and like every time I finally pick up a book I have hungered for it ends all too soon. I am now on the verge of calling the author evil for making it so when truth is that said author is giving me exactly what I wished for; a book as sticky as glue.
In this book we are given an entirely different side of Nicky as she goes through events that indeed can weaken the strongest of women, without her knowing, and it is heartbreaking. This in turn gives this book a new vulnerability and also a different strength as Nicky yet again fights herself through her struggles while being weight down by her break up with Sean.
I could say so much more about this book but out of fear for revealing too much I refrain from doing so and will instead tell you to read this book (and if you haven't yet; the entire series) because Jade C. Jamison is amazing at capturing you with her words and her multidimensional characters that seem incredibly real. Read this because it is well written, emotional and oh so intriguing.
Nicki is beyond stubborn and gets herself into heaps of trouble, trying to uncover the secrets and lies behind the politics of her town. Right smack in the middle is her relationship with Sean, which has seen some tremendous ups and downs, and now has a new player in the game. This story is darker and sexier with the added flair of Hunter, the sexy and sinful tattoo artist. Sean and Nicki have always had a tug of love kind of relationship, but somehow he’s always there when she’s knee deep in trouble.
Many new challenges and obstacles rear their ugly head, but will they fight through it together or crumble? Always one to keep us on our toes, Nicki has us in for mischief and surprises.
The Nicki Sosebee series was my first read from the amazing Jade C. Jamison, and I’ve been a fan ever since. Nicki is beyond stubborn and gets herself into heaps of trouble, trying to uncover the secrets and lies behind the politics of her town.
In the middle of all the chaos is her relationship with Sean, which has seen some tremendous ups and downs, and now has a new player in the game. Hunter, a tattoo artist and resident hunk, tries to sneak his way into Nicki’s heart, but will she see him for who he truly is before it’s too late?
This story is darker and sexier then ever before, and I loved it! Sean and Nicki have always had a tug of love kind of relationship, but somehow he’s always there when needed, and this time around is no different. Many new challenges and obstacles rear their ugly head, but will they fight through it together or crumble?
I've missed Nikki!!! I don't know what it is about this girl..but I love her story...but I'm really hoping in the end she gets her happy ending! She's an average girl who has dreams and comes across issues like so many of us...Her and Sean belong together..he has his faults but they truly love each other...this book shows more their troubles but I believe in the end they'll be together (please Jade make this happen..haha)...Overall great book and can't wait to read more Nikki..it's been so long I can't wait!!
I think I say this every time I read a new book in the Nicki serious, but I LOVED this one. It is by far my favorite of the series. In this book you don't get a whole lot of Jesse. You get some Sean. A whole lot of Nicki doing what she does best. We are introduced to a new character. Hunter. He's a hottie tattoo artist. Let me just say the title of this book says it all!!
I love the Nicki Sosebee's series. Nicki continues her investigative journalism adventures. This book has a great storyline and amazing characters. I highly recommend reading the entire series. I can't wait to read more about Nicki's next adventure and her love life.
Things are getting juicy for Nicki Sosebee! She learns some hard lessons and some new information. Will she and Sean get back together? Time will tell...
I have literally been waiting forever to here from Nicki Sosebee!!! It has been way too LONG Jade! But let me tell you time has not been good to our girl, she is for real depressed. Lies is book #10 in the Nicki Sosebee series, by Jade C. Jamison. Every book takes you along for the ride in Nicki's world and even brings some mystery into it with whatever piece she is investigating that book. Each and every book has something new and intriguing, and Nicki's life is truly wild and thrilling everyday. Jade definitely catches many new readers with this series! I'm super excited (and horribly impatient) for the next Nicki book!!!
Nicki's love life isn't going how she wants it to, not that it ever really does. Nicki decides to spend her birthday alone since everyone is busy and the one person she wants there won't change his ways. Sean has always been the one guy in Nicki's life and things seemed like they were really going to work. But his drinking ended up getting in the way and it changed who Nicki thought he really was. So Nicki took up drinking at Napoli, the restaurant she worked at. The bartender JD made sure she was well aware he was interested, but things had changed in Nicki's world. One night stands no longer helped her get by anymore, she was still empty and hollow afterward. So instead of getting herself into trouble Nicki decides to get a tattoo to remind herself to stop dating because love only ends in heartbreak. Only when she got to the tattoo shop Nicki found more trouble then she really wanted or needed. Hunter, the Artist/Owner of the shop, was exactly the type of guy Nicki went for, and much more. After finding out what Nicki wanted Hunter tried to talk her out of it, Nicki realized she wasn't quite thinking straight. So she went home alone thank goodness. Sean makes sure he pops up into her life again by making sure Nicki is aware of the corruption in their city. Sean makes sure Nicki knows things are worse than what they had originally thought and they no longer knew who they could trust. So all the while Nicki is investigating her great city along with Sean and her blog friend, things with Hunter heat up. So much so that she moves in with him, but this starts to show just how possessive and controlling Hunter is. With Nicki in her state of mind she really isn't thinking all too clearly until one night. Hunter showed his true colors, and he just may be a part of the corruption. Nicki no longer knows who she can trust, talk to, and her heart is still in pieces over Sean. Nicki's life in her thirties are not seeming that great at all.
Oh, Nicki…the things you get yourself into. Oh, Jade…the places you take me and the things you make me feel, all within one book.
In Lies, we pick up where we left off in Fake. Nicki still has her eye on Gina McCafferty and Cecil Montgomery and some career changes are on the horizon! We also meet Hunter. Oh, Hunter…tsk tsk. When we met Hunter, I was afraid. I was still in love with Jesse and Sean and I just didn’t know if I could make room in my, err, Nicki’s life for another desirable guy. I mean seriously, stop writing these attractive men! Kidding!! So Hunter happened and I kind of loved what it did for Nicki and Sean, at least what I hope it does.
I don’t like to leave reviews that give a summary of the book or contain spoilers, so I’ll leave you with this: It was a great read! Fans of Nicki need to get their hands on this. Those who haven’t read Nicki Sosebee yet, you don’t know what you’re missing. Every book is an adventure and Lies is no different! You will not be disappointed with this series.
Recieved for honest review. I guess I'm in the minority on this one. While I love this series, and pretty much all of Jade's books, this one fell a lil short for me. Nothing got resolved and Nicki still just jumps into the deep end without checking to see if there's enough water. I want her to be wiser and a helluva lot more cautious. And I really want her with Sean. She went through serious stuff in this book. Not to ruin anything but a very traumatic event. It will be interesting to see how she navigates through the next book with what she just went through, and how it will affect her choices from here on out. Looking forward to the next book.
Incredible Series Nicki’s life is exploding at work and in the romance department. She gave Sean an ultimatum and now she needs to move forward. Jade C. Jamison has not disappointed me yet with this series. The steam, emotion, drama and suspense just keeps coming. I received a copy of this book from the author in return for voluntarily writing an honest review.
