Assigned as an interpreter to a mysterious alien race, Liaison Sadie Beckit crosses multiple star systems to the remote Cyngi home world on an old space freighter. Knowledge is essential when dealing with aliens. A misspoken word or a careless gesture could lead to wars so liaisons are necessary to keep the peace, but Sadie is kept in the dark about her new employer. This mysterious species has chosen to withhold most of their culture and language information.
All she’s told is to accompany Ambassdor Nual back to Central Station. Sounds easy enough, but the lawless void of space holds many dangers.
Annie Nicholas hibernates in the rural, green mountains of Vermont where she dreams of different worlds, heroes, and heroines. When spring arrives the stories pour from her, in hopes to share them with the masses one day.
Mother, daughter, wife are some of the hats she happily wears while trudging after her cubs through the hills and dales. The four seasons an inspiration and muse.
This book made me nuts. It was very interesting with excellent world building and good action.
The romance suddenly does instra lust/love something really cool is revealed and then we are done.
Ahhhhgggghh. So, another book? I don't care. I wanted a whole book.
I am not saying the book isn't complete. It is but the romance got crammed in there. I was just over thinking the heroine was annoying and then I get to know almost nothing about the hero.
Bleh. Even if there is another book, I really feel these character's love story was done a great disservice and it makes me wary for reading anything else no matter how imaginative the author might be.
The story was short (Novella) but it was a full story; the main characters were not one-dimensional. The heroine was tough; an alien liaison who experienced life threatening injuries on a previous job and now has some sort of cybernetic implant. The story was light on this past experience. The hero is a plant based alien; that was a new twist. Their ship is invaded by the aliens who previously almost killed her. Together with the crew their hero and heroine fight off the other aliens so they don't have time to pursue their attraction.
The heroine, Sadie, is a Liaison between a collective of world and newly encountered world who are seeking to join, or whom the collective is trying to entice to join. As such, she must acting independently and decisively at times. This is billed as an "Alien Romance", and while there is a romantic / mild erotic element, it is also sci-fi with an action heroine.
Okay, it was short, there was insta-TRUElove (tm) and the over-arcing plot wasn't resolved... at all, but it was so great!!!! I got really attached to the protagonist. There was action, there were adorable childrens!, there was heart-warming scenes and engaging backstory! I laughed~ Want to read more books like this~~~~
What an adventure! This was a fast paced and booming read! It seems like if it can go wrong it does. But the will to survive will push you to do what ever it takes to live another day. Nual and Sadie have just found each other when danger finds them. They will have to think fast and act faster if they are to have a future with each other. I really loved the action in this story and the heartfelt promises made to bring peace to world that hasn't know it in a long time.
I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I've never read an alien romance before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Plus it was free so my expectations were not high. At the end of the story I was wishing it hadn't of ended so suddenly. I really wanted to know what happened with Sadie and the Zair, and more about the Cyndi.
Had the potential to be a truly wonderful book but fell flat. The story concept was brilliant... I think the idea of a liaison between species who has cybernetic implants is a original one but the story just felt rushed. The chemistry wasn’t the best between the two main charachters and that disappointed me.
So this book feels like someone took snippets from a larger book and made a novella. It’s entirely too short but almost too much happens and there’s so much back story hinted.... I don’t understand why the author didn’t just write more. This would have actually been really good flushed out, the length of a normal book.
This is a reread for me. I read it a couple of years ago and decided to do another read through. Just like the first time I thought the story was rushed and too short, like this is only part one. I would like to read more and find out all the answers to the questions you are left with.
I really enjoyed this story. The Liaisons world is fascinating and I would like to read more about the Central Worlds. How does the rest of Sadie's story turn out? What happens with the Zair, so many avenues to be explored, so more please. I'll be waiting.
This story takes place primarily on a small space cargo ship manned by an alien captain and his 3 wives and numerous children. I loved this family, they were fantastic. The women definitely ruled the roost. Also on board was a female human intergalactic liaison officer. She is like a foreign diplomat. The cargo ship for some mysterious reason was transporting an alien ambassador from a very powerful and influential planet. There was a whole lot of action, fighting, death going on in the story as the cargo ship is attacked. But the attack was steeped in history for the liaison. The story was so well described that I could see it all clearly in my mind. I just wish we had more background and information on the ambassador. Now he was truly interesting. Maybe in the next book.
There is a serious case of insta-love at the beginning, but that was easy to overlook as I was soon sucked into Ms. Nicholas' world-building. There is an intriguing backstory and I loved the toughness of the female character. The pacing is good and I was enjoying the suspense...and then boom, the book was over! Why was Glitch responding to orders from Nual? Do they reach Nual's home planet in time to get another sun machine? And, most importantly, what about her promise to help the Zair?!
I checked out the author's website and she seems to like publishing books in serial format. I really hope that will be the case here but a continuation of the story does not appear on her WIP list for 2017.
My recommendation: Still worth reading but be aware that you will be left wanting more.
4 stars rounded down to 3 stars due to the ending.

There could have been more to the story but it was a quick read. I shall read more from this author.
I felt rushed with this book. Book in love, boom a battle, boom the end. Um, what about the build up? What about the anticipation? I do love some good cock teasing, but not here.
I wanted to know more about Nual. Hybrid plant! I was down for that. There needed to be more character building, more world building, more everything. Here is what I got, she is a space Liasion, works temporarily with groups. Has some scars and her home life on Earth, not good. What do I know about Nual, blue skin, dark blue freckles, petals for hair. Blue eyes. He's so blue.
This was a great romantic space adventure! I enjoyed the cool worldbuilding elements and appreciated how they were woven in seamlessly. I fell right away for the flirty blue hero and was intrigued by the mystery surrounding him. Sadie and her cyber enhanced capabilities were fascinating and fun. There was plenty of heart-pounding action to keep the story fast paced and enthralling. Although it was only a novella length, the story didn't feel rushed or incomplete. This was my first book by the author and I'm excited to have discovered someone new to read! Rating: 3.75
My introduction to Annie Nicholas was the Bait series and I loved it. I've always enjoyed sci-fi so I was anxious to read one of her books. Starting with Venturi, I fell in love with the world she created. Boarded provides another new world with completely different characters in a very different setting with a different set of challenges.
The plot was riveting, descriptions were vivid, and emotions were high. This is a complete story with potential for more. I'm hoping that there will be more because I enjoyed this so much!
I was really looking forward to reading this book that I Evan pre ordered and waited ages for it to come out. It was a good book still worth a read! But I just expected a little more story and history on the characters I felt like everything was a bit of a mystery. The book was really really short took about an hour to read it completely. When I completed reading this book, I did feel as if I just started reading and then all of sudden the book finished. It was all a bit rushed and quick.
Even though it was nice for a change, reading a good book that didn't have ten books in a series, I found myself at the end, wanting to read more of future adventures with those two!!
What an interesting take on aliens! I really enjoyed it, but it would have been better if we got to read what had been on that data he was hiding from her the whole trip. From the way the book ended, it left room for another book. ...I wonder if that is going to happen? ??
I'm giving up the ghost and DNFing this one at 41%. I lost all interest when "h" falls for "H", who evolves from a plant. Now I can read just about anything. Except that. I just couldn't wrap my head around this as a character. Someone else might enjoy this but it wasn't for me.
