Xavier Lowe wants peace. A rogue attack kept him trapped in his wolf form, and he’s had enough of the endless war on Sawtooth Forest. His brothers want to play by the rules, but not X. If they don’t take care of this threat, there will be no future to fight for. Chandra wants to belong. Her parents left Sawtooth Forest before she was born. They didn’t want her to be sold, instead they gave her a chance to find her true mate. Now she’s in the place she wants to call home, but she never expected her pack to reject her. Except for one. X knows that Chandra isn’t just any wolf, she’s his mate. And he’ll show her why Sawtooth Forest is worth fighting for.
Kristen Strassel is far cooler than she’ll make herself sound in this bio. She enjoys spending time with the voices in her head—nudging the characters toward those bad decisions and a happily ever after. When she’s not writing, she’s often still in the land of make-believe—doing makeup for film and television. And when she’s not doing any of that, she enjoys making her house look like a Pinterest board, watching football, and road trips to the middle of nowhere.
When his lips touched mine, I felt complete. 5 DIAMOND STARS
He’d been a wolf, I’d been human, and the concept of forever seemed huge. I’d actually found the place that had almost become a forgotten fairy tale. OH MY WOLF!! *sniff sob sniff* I fell in love with this series the instant I heard about it, and that love has only grown deeper with each book! With each time I read and re-read a book!! Since X didn’t play a big part in any of the other books, I was surprised at just how much I enjoyed getting to know Xavier & Chandra, and how much I loved them! I should know better since this is a Kristen Strassel book! ;) I cannot even begin to say just how emotional I was BEFORE starting this last book, but I was also oh-so-very eager! Not only did I want to see what was going to happen to X, find out what Chandra’s story is, and see how everything was going to play out, but to also visit with my friends again! The VERY LAST TIME we get to visit Sawtooth Forest and the town of Granger Falls! *sob* All I can think of is HOW could Kristen PAWSSIBLY end a such a FURRIFIC & FANGTASTIC & SHIFTACULAR series!?!?! And yes, I am well aware that all good things must come to an end, but for me, this was way too soon!! Okay, if the series was 300 books long I would probably say the same thing simply because it is a Kristen Strassel series! In fact, I think she is the first author that had me liking - and then loving, rooting for & living both with & as - the "enemies" or the ones you thought were the bad guys in the beginning. I was overjoyed at just how PAWFECT Kristen made this last book of the series! It not only gave updates with all of our other favorite couples while still giving X & Chandra their story, but Kristen didn't rush anything, sell it short or drag it out either. It's horrible what some of these characters have been through before we meet them, but through all of the horror emerges one helluva story for each of them that I cannot put down!! Think of the characters past as a wicked storm that took place in some other part of the world. You see the aftermath, what’s left behind to try to pick up the pieces with. That is where the story starts - looking at the carnage & desolation left behind, not knowing where to begin to move forward, when all of a sudden a peek of a rainbow catches your eye. It gives you the hope that you need, so you continue to work at getting healthy, overcoming the devastation that has been your life, getting yourself to a happy & comfortable place. And then you see & feel the most beautiful rainbow that shines so bright it lights up even your darkest corners, chasing the evil shadows away and finally, FINALLY you believe & trust that the Happily Ever After in front of you, CAN be yours – IT IS YOURS!! All you have to do is say YES! While Kristen doesn't shy away from anything, she also doesn't make us LIVE the horrors that have brought the characters to the start of this series. It’s all about healing, moving forward, trusting again, finding ways to love again, but what better place to start then at an animal shelter where all those adorable animals are looking for the same thing too – to find their Forever Home with someone that will love and cherish them the way they NEED & “deserve” to be loved!! Being able to show the darker sides not only helps to brighten the lighter sides and make the journey that much more worth it, but it also helps to make the story that much more richer, give it that much more depth, so that it touches you mind, body & soul! Kristen is such an amazing, fantastic, incredible and phenomenal author who combines her stellar talent with her genuine gift to create & craft these fantastic & all-consuming stories that I cannot put down, series that I cannot get enough of and characters that I love so deeply! Each book of hers that I have read, from vampires to shifters, have all made such a deep impact on me. The instant connection to the story, to the characters, pulls me in so deep that I can't tell which way is up. I not only read their stories, but experience it, live it with them, AS them! As you are reading & losing yourself in the pages, you can tell just how much Kristen loves her characters & the worlds they live & play in. There is so much attention to detail, everything flows beautifully whether it is within the story or across all of the books that make up the series. The Happy Endings may be different than you expect, but they also mean that much more to EACH and EVERY SINGLE ONE of them! Me included! So if you are looking for a story & series where you can get lost in, where you can ride shotgun with these characters on their journey to recovery and a HEA, then get your fingers walking over to your etailer of choice and get this series TODAY!! This story & series truly did COMPLETE ME!!!
Book 7 Chandra and X: Babies everywhere! Whew. Finally. Ok, back to the beginning…Chandra was taken away from her pack when she was a baby and for all the right reasons. Her parents refused to be pressured into a contract for her hand in marriage. They wanted her to choose, but in doing so denied her the wolf family and environment she needed. X knew Chandra was his mate almost immediately and had no problem proclaiming it. Chandra’s background as a veterinarian and long lost Sawtooth pack member puts her right in the middle of the final battle for Granger Falls and the wolf way of life. Ember is back and trying to buy the town from the ground up. She’ll either force the Channing’s and Lowe’s to sell, leave or convert…or all three. While Chandra is helping the Forever Home staff with the animals and X is trying to help save the family business and home, they both are exploring a life together as they watch all their friends and siblings try to do the same. The epic battle does little to quell everyone’s fear that all is lost. But it turns out that Chandra is the biggest badass of them all by taking out the threat that is Ember, but to me, the best part of this final book in the series is babies! Finally! Kiera is pregnant, Cass is pregnant, and in the end, Trina too. And they all have healthy babies. Everybody is mating, getting mated? Having babies, saving animals, falling in love, building houses…And all will be well with Granger Falls.
X finally gets better right as everyone is realizing Chandra isn't who they think she is. X wants to put an end to this war! He is ready to take his forest back. However he never thought that the person who does it will be the one to end it all! Chandra was taken away from the pack as a child so that she would have the choice to choose her mate. She wants to belong will X declaring her his mate make her belong or stand out even more?
Xavier is hurt by the alpha of another pack and is in desperate need a a doctor while in wolf form. A doctor who happens to also be a wolf shows up to care for him, however, no one has ever heard of this person who claims to be from the Sawtooth pack. Xavier knows she is his true mate, but will he be able to trust this unknown woman enough to fight for his right to her?
Liked this book. I felt a bit lost because I started with this book instead of the first in the series but no worries I'm going to read the previous ones because this one was really good
