Ending too soon, this was another Mule Hollow episode. Ashby and Dan have had sparks since she moved over a year ago. How come she won't go out with the flirt?

Ash and Dan are special
Loved this book. A little more serious than the previous books but every bit as delightful, clean, and interesting. I really fell in love with Dan and love the HEA.

This series never gets old or stale. In this edition, we get to meet Ashby Templeton and Dan Dawson.
In a previous book, we met Ashby when she arrived in town to set up a wedding dress store with hopes of wearing one of her dresses herself someday. However, little does she know that when she rejected a date from Dan Dawson, she earned a reputation among the cowboys and now no one will ask her out. But, in her mind, Dan is an irresponsible flirt - the type of guy she wants nothing to do with.
Dan Dawson loves to gift everyone with a smile. He's learned that it helps others have a better day. So, when he's rejected for a date because of his smile, he's more than determined to figure out why.
There are a lot of layers to this story with well developed characters. On the one hand, it's like a cowboy version of Pride & Prejudice. Ashby sees Dan as rude and full-of-himself and Dan sees Ashby as judgmental. On the other hand, this story could be an object lesson for the phrase, "don't judge a book by its cover." Both Dan and Ashby jump to conclusions about the other based on external factors.
One thing that I like about this series is the focus on the older generation and how they are available for counsel and mentoring. They may seem out of touch, but they are very perceptive and ready to help when needed.
In the end, thanks to the help of the town matchmakers and listening to wise counsel, a HEA was inevitable.

Another sweet, Christian romance by Ms Clopton . We are back in the quaint town of Mule Hollow with it’s unique inhabitants and Matchmaker trio.
This time the story centers around Ashby Templeton , dress shop owner and San Francisco socialite now residing in Mule Hollow, and Dan Dawson ,cowboy, rancher, and supporter of the women’s shelter as well as a flirt, or so we think. Both have had a childhood they hide, and in the past year they have acted more like oil and vinegar, though the attraction is there.
As the story develops, we learn about each of these individuals childhood. A childhood that has molded them . Because of that past, one vows to being the best mother when she gets married, and the other one fears being a father.
The story is a reminder, that our experiences in life will affect us in our adulthood. That assumptions we make about someone else, can lead to misjudging them. Is what we “see” on the outside , really who the person is inside? And if not, why do they act the way they do.
Another touching story in this series.

This was a sweet, well-written contemporary Christian romance. Ashby came to Mule Hollow when she saw an advertisement that the lonely cowboys who live there are looking for wives. Here greatest desire is to have a family. But the only cowboy who shows her interest is Dan, a happy-go-lucky flirt. She's had bad experiences with insincere men in the past, and is convinced Dan is just like all the others. Dan's past has taught him that a smile could change a life, and anything worth having is worth working for. The interactions between Ashby and Dan were a lot of fun to read and I enjoyed this book. This story can be read as a standalone book, though it is part of the Texas Matchmaker series, all set in Mule Hollow, TX. I look forward to reading more books in this series as well as others by this author.

Having a mother who finally escaped an abusive husband, Dan feared becoming a father who would inflict the same terror on his own children. Consequently he avoided marriage into his thirties.
Ashby always wanted children, and at thirty she was getting anxious that the right man, after a string of wrong men, would ever come into her life.
A constant reminder that God is in charge and can be trusted with our worries was a prevalent theme.
A light, quick read.

Ashby grew up with Mother wanting her to be frilly and marry well to do man. She suffers three breakups and moves to Mule Hollow to find husband. Dan and his Mother escape abusive man he end's up in Mule Hollow but thinks he will not be good Dad. He meets Ashby and slowly wins her over while falling in love with her but thinks he can't marry her because she wants children. After listening three wise men and a lot of prayers he sees that they can do this together. Love this series looking forward to more.

Dan has tried for a year, wanting to help her find a husband, but she won’t give the big flirt, the time of day. The town people say he would be perfect for her. For Dan there was a reason for him being a flirt. Till three wise men told him, to correct a bad past, be the best father you can. Finding love, is always delightful to read .

Ashby is starting to wonder if there is any hope for her to find her true love as more and more couples are tying the know in Mule Hollow. And why is it she can't seem to attract anyone other than the "town flirt"? But is Dan the town flirt or is there more to his story? And will Dan listen to the advice he gets from old-timers - Appelgate, Stanley and Sam? Just loved this book and Ash & Dan's story!

Surprise Me, Cowboy is an enhanced edition and is the eighth book in the Texas Matchmakers series. The wives wanted campaign has been good for business, but Ashby has been wanting to find her own happiness. That is why she came to Mule Hollow. But the only man showing interest is the one man that she feels isn't marriage material. Will Ashby ever get her happily ever after? Or will she just have to live with helping others find theirs? I really enjoyed this book. Definitely recommend it!

This author was recommended to me by a good friend and I was looking for a super light read so I thought I'd give it a try even though it's not my normal read. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. The setting was cool and the characters were interesting. It wasn't nearly as cheesy as I was expecting. It's pretty much a Hallmark movie in book form, so nice to read every once in a while.

A sweet Christian read about Ashby who wants to get married and have babies. She is surprised when she falls in love with want she thinks is the wrong cowboy. I liked the Christian messages in this story, we need to trust in God especially when it comes to relationships, leave it to him he knows what is right for you. Most of all be patient!

What a beautifully written story! This slow burn/enemies to more style romance was not only charged with chemistry and sparks, but a really heartfelt love story unfolded that is deeply heart touching, deeply heart warming and leaves you wanting more. It truly is a story of not only two hearts coming together, but the growth journey of their own hearts. A highly recommended read!

I really love the style that Debra writes. I find that her books bring me right in at the start of the first couple of pages. That is wonderful when an author can do that. This book was so good and so fun I really enjoyed. Debra hit a in the park home run with this!

A great read
I loved these good hearted, head strong characters. Each trying to make God's plan fit what they wanted for their life. With the help of a great community and some unwanted helpers they finally begin to see the error of their way.

This was probably one of my favorite books of Ms. Clopton's. I really really enjoyed the characters and the story. I liked the guy and I liked the way they were with each other.
