Richard Marcinko is the author of the Rogue Warrior thrillers and is a living, breathing hero honored with the silver star and four bronze stars for valor, along with two Navy Commendation medals and other honors. After serving in Vietnam, he went on to start and command SEAL Team 6, the Navy's anti-terrorist group, and Red Cell, a high-level anti-terrorist unit. Marcinko keeps his hand in the field as the president of a private international security company and now lives in Warrington, Virginia.
A great point of view on the subject. Over the top, in a good way, but that's to be expected from the man that has been there and done that. Leadership from the prospective of a real warrior. He found that what works on a real battlefield works in business.
A fast read. Akin to Extreme Leadership but with a more pragmatic and subtle approach. The author focuses on leadership principles and alternative tools to enhance skill sets. Certainly worth the read.
Disappointingly short and somewhat generic. I love a good nonfiction Marcinko read, but I think The Real Team was an overall better book than this one.
While I enjoyed Richard Marcinko's book "Rogue Warrior," this book offered very little.
I took away one piece of business advice applicable to my own business: operate business in as lean a manner as possible in order to stay connected to the client and your workforce. Essentially, create a quick reactionary force within your business.
I don't understand how some people can say that this doesn't translate to business . Use your brain to understand that he is not talking about killing people he is talking about how real leaders have character and focus on things like unit cohesion ( teamwork) planning and preparation. True leadership principles are always in style.
This is one of the best books I have yet read in my life. Marcinko's foul mouthed approach does not detract, but instead emphasizes his points. A must read for those who lead or wish to be led.
More of the same. Interesting but not overwhelming. Novel in concept but the battle stories humble the business examples. He's extremely vain but don't say it to his face.
Such a great leadership book, that I'd put it right up there with Think and Grow Rich. Okay, perhaps that's a stretch. But I still put him in the same sort of genre, sort of.
