Jill Paterson is best known for her popular Fitzjohn Mystery Series. Set in the city of Sydney, Australia, her richly drawn characters include Alistair Fitzjohn. Now a police consultant since his retirement from the force, his methods of investigation remain the same, methodical and painstaking.
While continuing the Fitzjohn series, Jill is also working on a new series, the Phoebe Chadwick Mysteries. Set along the east coast of Australia in a small township, Phoebe Chadwick heads the cast of characters as the female sleuth.
When not writing, Jill explores settings for her books and enjoys painting, photography and tai chi.

This is a Fitzjohn Mystery. The book is set in Australia. This is a story crafted with a careful detail to guiding the reader to look at the facts. It's a murder mystery but also the story of family relationships and old secrets. Well-drawn characters and a well-knit plot will keep you guessing until the murderer is finally revealed.
Read this book before joining Goodreads, but I found the first book of the Alistair Fitzjohn series very boring so I never bothered to read any of the other ones in the series.
I like this series though this is not my favorite. I like Fitzjohn, the policeman, though he is introduced here and not the major character. She writes well. The characters are not cardboard. The plots are good. Australia setting is interesting as I haven't been there.
