Nothing says quality more than constantly showing the naked ass of a probably underage girl.
You notice that this is a condensed version of a much larger story, as tons of things feel rushed and hacked apart, like Frolo's obsession and things like Phoebus raping Esmeralda were not in this story, which might only be explained by perhaps prudery or maybe some odd double standard, as they have no problem showing hanging and murder, so why is rape too much for them? On the other hand first the crowd was cruel to the whipped Quasimodo and once Esmeralda gives him water they all cheer her and him? Why? Well never mind, this story is only ok at best anyway. No idea whether the original is better because it is longer, but if it is anything like this it would feel rather boring to me. Boring and I must say not very memorable. Similar to the first volume, I only remember snippets of this story already and even that rather due to the art, but that was it.
The most memorable thing is its depiction of Esmeralda: Here she is not the brown-skinned Carmen copy that you are used to in the movie adaptations, but rather pale and less eroticized (in a way). Which might be due to the character being an underage girl in the novel. No idea whether she is the same age here, but one thing is clear anyway: Constantly showing her ass is not something you should be proud off. Sure, her skirt might be raised high enough during her fire dances, however, we see it reveal her ass simply while she is running away (in fact it looks as if her ass is emanating some wind to blow up the skirt that way) and even while walking normally. And considered that the skirt is at least knee-cap length, you can definitely say that this would not be physically possible, so the artist simply wanted to draw the naked ass of a possibly underage girl as often as possible. Which means, even manga and anime do it with more taste than this comic.
