James Merritt is a minister who has decided to share his love of the Bible in 52 Weeks Through The Bible.

Through this guide he is able to show how the Bible works together through events, people and the narrative throughout biblical history. He also takes time to share the importance of the events of some of the days that Christians have heard about over the years. some of these include the story of Ruth, Jerusalem's fall, and the restoration which is to come. As he looks at each of these I felt like I was hearing about them from a new point of view which I felt to be enlightening.

I feel like this devotion is perfect for all Christians or even those that are thinking of joining the Christian walk. I look forward to reading it again in a more leisurely fashion in order to absorb some more of his thoughts.

I was given this book by NetGalley and Harvest House Publishers in exchange for my honest review.

This was not your "everyday" devotional book. It was a book full of the best sermons I have ever read. They were scriptural and concise. The author himself seemed to be a great editor.I am tired of reading books that seem not to be edited.

I would recommend this book to all readers. It is easy to understand as well as scholarly. I will read more books by this author.

This book is an amazing bible study to go along with your daily time with God. The verses chosen for the chapters open our eyes to the connection between the new and old testament. They are not long and time consuming. Plus the author does an amazing job explaining what he wants the reader to get out of each chapter.

loved this book

I read, I journaled, I got so much closer to God. It brought my relationship with the Lord so much further the way that he worded. Everything was so easy to understand and easy to follow, and it was life-changing for me.

Closer to God

The title hopefully tells you this was another weekly book for me, reading a chapter a week each Saturday. Each week it brought me closer to my Lord and Savior because He is getting closer to us.

This book consists of 52 weekly devotionals with 5 scriptures to read each week. The titles of the devotionals range from "Yes, God", "Catch-22" and "Breaking the prayer barrier". James Merritt has taken important happenings in the Bible and used them to illustrate every day problems Christians face. For example the "Catch-22" devotional was about Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt. The route they took was fraught with danger, basically going down a cul-de-sac as the author puts it. But the Bible shows how God leads them out of danger through the Red Sea. He uses this example so that the person reading the devotional could apply it to their life as well.

My daughter and I worked through this book doing a chapter per day. It was a fascinating process as there were many chapters that applied to our lives as well as conversations we had with friends and family. It was amazing to be reading about the very thing we discussed that day and to be validated with the answers found in this book.

I would strongly recommend this book to everyone. It has a tread of hope running through, that no matter how bad or useless things may seem, God is there and has the answer and the way.

Thank you Netgalley and Harvest House Publishers for allowing me to read and review this book.

A book worth your time and commitment, to be kept within arms reach, as you go about your daily business. '52 Weeks Through the Bible' comes through as a sort of premeditated fast track, through the Bible - touching on key areas associated with the weeks lesson plan. It's aimed at new and battle-tested Christians alike.

The book is formatted into a simple break down. One chapter per week kicks off with a rubric containing five old and new testament scripture passages. There are five segments within each chapter that can be read either daily or all in one shot - according to your preference.

Each segment is rich with descriptions of bible stories, summaries of current events from biblical perspectives and flash sermons - all to serve as educational or friendly reminders/remediations. This isn't a linear, front to back, exegesis - as each chapter is predicated on the lesson plan for the week, knitting together relevant old and new testament scripture. This one's a keeper, as it revitalized by degrees, my bible reading practice.

Here's to hoping it will do the same for you.

Yes you can clearly see that I haven't had this book for 52 weeks... So why am I sticking my nose where it doesn't belong... because this isn't my nose its my brain and heart. I have used this a few times in daily readings and think that is the best way to use it, at least for me. It's a great 'view' or reminder. I received this for an honest review
