Enjoyed this book I bought at the airport to read on my flight back home. Has a lot of good advice and tips about having a positive attitude no matter what happens to you in life.
read this out of a sense of familial devotion (my mom gave it to me). at its core, adopting a positive outlook on life surely is good advice, but the religious under (and over-!)tones just don't gel with me, and there were a few too many short-sighted generalizations about tendency towards negativity. also, I appreciate a little more in the way of scientific backing from self-help books.
In the TV show, The A-Team, B.A. Baracus was asked what B.A. stood for. His reply, "bad attitude" and that response is what defined the character for the series.
Our attitude affects who we are. If you are having a great day life seems wonderful and not much can get us down. Have the opposite experience and life seems to be punishing you with relentless aggression. Our attitude during these experience is how we will most likely respond.
But what if your attitude was something that could be controlled? What if you have more control over how to respond than you might think? In his book, The Power of Your Attitude, Stan Toler teaches seven choices that can aid in developing an attitude that can lead to a happy and successful life.
Some of these choices are: joy, gratitude, compassion, and humility. By choosing these responses the mind begins to set patterns to not let negativity take root and grow weeds of bitterness and resentment. It does not mean that negativity never happens. Rather, it sets the stage for negativity to be acknowledged and then dismissed in favor of choosing a positive outlook.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
This is a book that you should read and re-read every year or two. Maintaining a positive attitude makes your life so much better. But many people around you prefer the negative outlook. The news media hype all the calamities, and political people want you to depend on them for your life.
Be positive and get your attitude boosters by re-reading this book regularly.
Stan Toler’s The Power of Your Attitude proved to be an easy yet enriching read. Filled with invaluable reminders on the significance of attitude, it’s a book I’d eagerly recommend to others. Toler offers a plethora of examples and practical tips, making it a valuable resource for anyone seeking to enhance their mindset. I’m considering purchasing multiple copies to share with friends and family, as its insights are truly worth spreading.
Not sure if it is the right book as I read it in Indonesian version with the title of ‘Success through your Attitude’. Tbh, semua isi yang disampaikan penulis memang acapkali kita temukan di buku-buku motivasi/non-fiction lain, tapi saya masih merasakan its a good book yang saya akan recommend untuk orang lain turut membacanya.
It’s hard to not give this book a five star review. I want to because I loved so much of what he has to say! Sincerely I feel the message of a positive attitude is the key to life. But the problem for me in this book lies in the Christian platitudes and trite statements.
Tris book si a gift to learn choose positive thought, word, action, habit and choice. “You hace the power to decide, so make the choices that will forever shape your life for good “.
I just happened to pick this book up at my local FedEx last year and I finished it at the end of a hard week. It gave me tips that I truly needed to be reminded of, such as choosing kindness and sitting in gratitude.
The author tells many stories of his father, which are very touching and adds depth to the narrative. Though the book has elements of Christianity in it, it wasn't overdone; it was actually refreshing, as we all need to be reminded of the power of our thoughts, regardless if our faith, in my opinion.
I loved this book. Basically the book says "Believe it will all work out--choose hope. Don't take yourself too seriously--choose humility. Count your blessings--choose gratitude. Give more than you take--choose generosity. Be kind to everyone you meet--choose compassion. Celebrate life--choose joy. Keep going no matter what--choose perseverance."
Simple book, gives you a clear avenue to a peaceful happy life. Easy to read and it’s not like other self development books that’s filled with words and similar topics. No exaggeration on the book like you will be the happiest person on earth but it will change you and it had changed me
