The guidebook for the first Icewind Dale game has stat blocks for all enemies and monsters you'll encounter and stat blocks for all gear, including magical weapons, jewellery and such.
THIS guidebook does NOT. For enemies and monsters, you only get a text description. Now, I don't know about you, but I feel robbed. Frankly, the best part of the guide for IWD1 was the stats for magical equipment, particularly the weapons. However, for this book, i.e. the IWD2 guide, there's an appendice with stats for mundane weapons and armour, but... who gives a fuck about the weight of a morningstar is and whether it's two-H or not? Who cares what magic school Iron Skins belongs to? If you're consulting the book for this kind of information, then you're playing the game all wrong and most probably approaching life objectively incorrectly. You know, life? The thing that's more important, you fucking nerd.
With all that said, you can say that these books are largely useless in this day and age of internetz, but I, amongst others, feel it's cool to have own them (uh, as cool as owning something like a dated, clunky game from yester-century can get, which is not very). IMHO, you can overlook getting this guidebook; it's so mediocre compared to the one for the first game. And quite frankly, IWD2 is similarly mediocre compared to IWD1 and Heart of Winter. Play those games instead.
