Pearl has lived under the hard hand of a vicious man for years and when she finally makes her escape, she is hit by a car and wakes up in the hospital. She doesn’t remember anything from the night before, except for the comforting touch, of a beautiful man named, Christopher Blu.

Blu learns that Pearls life has been a circle of degradation, hurt and pain and he wants so bad to help her through it, that it completely envelopes his life. He cares for her and there is a mutual attraction between the two. But he's not sure if what he feels for her is real, or if it is just his compassion for a woman who has been so brutally scarred by her life.

This book is intended for mature audiences only.

"She was the one, my broken little angel, the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life putting back together, piece by piece."

4 Stars!

I had so much fun with this book just like how I enjoyed the previous books of Violet Chain series. It was a refreshing experience to get to know a new set of main protags. In this book we meet the heroine Pearl. (Yay! It actually felt so strange. I don't think I've ever read a book with my name as a main character. However, I felt honored since the author said that she purposely chose my name to be the heroine's. How cool is that!). We also meet the male lead Christopher Blu or simply known as Blu who happens to be Chain and David's close friend.

These two characters met one night when David accidentally hit Pearl on a road while Blu was with him. After taking her to the nearest hospital, they found out that Pearl was simply a damsel in distress, one who escaped away from slavery. Now when Pearl woke up, Blu decided to take her to his home and offer her shelter since she has nowhere else to go.

This book was kind of different compared to the previous books because it simply had a dark side in it. Add the fact that it also had some action in the near-end which made me utterly speechless. The characters were amazing. Christopher Blu was a babe and Pearl was sweet and adorable. Also, Blu and his friends were squad goals! I enjoyed their little banters so much.

I could say that this book was a welcome distraction for me and distract me it did. There were funny and entertaining scenes. The plot was fairly credible and there was a fast pacing, too. Plus, I found a bit of an angst here which gave an emotional punch.

I just had a little concern when it comes to the build-up of trust between Pearl and Blu. It was too instant I wish it didn't take a second for Pearl to trust him. It was kind of weird to trust someone stranger (just because she was attracted to him at first sight) and to never trust everyone else around her. In a way it was a little unbelievable.

Nevertheless, the sexy scenes were hot and the romance was definitely a winner. There was real chemistry between the characters and for me that's the most important thing. As a whole, this book won me over. It was enticing and altogether a guilty-pleasure. I'll be reading the next books for sure!

Fun Fact: My ex-boyfriend's name is Christopher. I see what you did there, J. Kahele. *smirks

Blu is book number three in the Violet Chin series. I have been itching to read this since I finished with book number two. There is something magnetic about this group of friends that makes me want to know as much about them as possible.

So I cracked open Blu and from the first moment I was hooked. There was so much going on that caused me to wince and then start to admire, I mean really admire, Christopher Blu.

Pearl was a terrorized young woman that Blu found himself willing to help then overcome her fear then just wanting to be there for her. Wanting in all the ways he thought were over for him.

It was beautiful to see both of them bloom. Pearl with the taste of freedom and consideration and a total lack of abuse. Blu to open his eyes and heart to someone besides the person that had almost destroyed him. But no one especially Blu can trust his motives.

J. Kahele shares his story with humor, compassion and gritty truth. So much was going on in this book, I really was unable to put it down. I drank it in at one sitting.

This book has a little bonus peek into the future. One series of books that should not be missed. Now I have to patiently wait on book four. It will not be easy.

This book had me hooked from the very start. Pearl was a woman that was so easy to fall in love with---she was innocent, yet had this strength about her that I admired especially after what she had been through. J Kahele really captured the emotions that someone who had been held in captivity most of their live might truly feel. Pearl was genuine and real and so very brave.
And Blu...what a rough patch he'd been through. He intrigued me when we were introduced to him earlier in the series and he shined in this book. While he had every right to be hard on himself, we saw what a sweetheart he was. His heart was what had gotten him into trouble in the first place, but giving it to the right woman just might heal him.
The reader gets the point of view of both Pearl and Blue, something that enhanced the story for me. I love getting inside both characters heads, especially our heroes, and this was no exception. I also enjoyed that the other characters from the series had a significant role instead of being forgotten. It was nice to catch up with them, as well.
Fabulous book, addictive writing, and a heart wrenching story!

When J. Jahele writes, one can always expect strong characters, the push and pull of emotional feelings and heat, lots of heat, as well as mental and physical from the gut passion. Bluis the third addition to her violet Chain series and this time, she takes us down a slightly different path, a little more uncomfortable, a little less traveled, but just as powerful and riveting.

They nearly killed her on a dark road, but the woman walking in the middle of nowhere when Christopher Blu and his two best buddies ran into her. It was Blu who felt more than the anguish of the pain in her battered body, he felt something primal inside of him that wanted only to protect this fragile beauty. For Blu, this is foreign, frightening and nothing he has ever felt before.

Pearl’s world has been a nightmare since she was a young child. All she can remember is harsh treatment, imprisonment, rules and punishment. And. Isolation. She is completely naïve to the outside world, having been kept confined to a remote cabin in the middle of nowhere. But Pearl is smart, she learns quickly and she is terrified of displeasing anyone. Staying with Blu and his sister, Pearl discovers the feelings of a woman attracted to a man, but Blu knows he is no good for her, that she deserves better, until the night she is stolen by the nightmare of her past.

J. Kahele blends rugged and beautiful men with pure alpha tendencies with women who have backbone and spirit, although this time out, she adds a terrifying reality that rarely is written into a romance story and does it beautifully. Fall in love with Pearl’s resilience, her attempts to acclimate to society and that spark of feistiness she is learning to kindle. Swoon over Blu, a man whose beauty is only surpassed by the inner strength of a warrior who would kill to protect the woman he loved as easily as he can hold her like a delicate flower in his arms. Okay, he can also be a Neanderthal full of jealousy, which is definitely endearing!
Another gem from J. Kahele!

“What are you doing? We don’t stop here.”

Rita / Camille, on the issue of stopping a car dead in the road whilst another is coming in the opposite direction. – Mulholland Drive, 2001

Each of the Violet Chain books have upped the ante in terms of drama and sexual liaisons. Blu is strikingly different from its predecessors, so much so that it can be viewed as a standalone piece. But reading the other stories first will serve to make reading Blu a more enriched experience.

My initial interest as a male reader tipped unsurprisingly towards Pearl, who in a well constructed sequence is found to be the victim of a car accident, but that is only the start. With the chapter focus on a specific character, readers can get to know both Pearl and Christopher (the eponymous Blu of the title) with ease.

That is not to say Pearl’s back story is easy to stomach, but it is certainly an interesting take in a hot romance genre, and I especially loved these scenes, even though I felt a lot of empathy for Pearl as a character.

Like all of Miss Kahele’s female protagonists, they are strong willed and courageous, but never one trick ponies, nor do they lapse into cliche. It’s easy to overlook flaws in men and women when we read such characters in books, but Pearl feels like a real character to me and so I think this is possibly the author’s best work to date.

Some readers may find the profanity and very strong sex scenes offputting. In another way, one can consider this story as packaged – for mature audiences only.

Miss Kahele knows how to reward her fanbase, and Blu is no exception, offering a sneak peak at book four in the series. What I really like about the Violet Chain series is how certain characters appear again and again – it is storytelling at its most seamless and takes an author of merit to pull it off.

When Pearl sees her chance, she takes it and runs. When she finally makes it to the paved road, she thinks she's safe ... and then, in the dark, she is hit by a car and thrown into a ditch.

She's lucky... very minor injuries, but the man with the velvet voice is telling her she'll be okay. He says his name is Blu. And when he takes her hand, she believes him.

Blu feels an instant connection to Pearl. She's young, innocent, and in need of help, protection.
She was abducted when she was 8 years old by a man only known as Sir. He's abusive, controlling. When she thought he was selling her off, that's when she ran.

Slowly, day by day, Blu and Pearl get closer and start to fall in love. And just when you see the fairy tale ending to this story .... Sir finds her and whisks her away again.

Blu is livid and all hell breaks loose when he discovers his Pearl, his Angel, has been taken.

This is an excellent addition to the series. Blu and Pearl both have issues to deal with ...and find they are much stronger together and able to deal with what they have to. The characters are all such good people .. it's really nice seeing them all together and happy. I really enjoyed watching Blu come to terms with his jealous rages .. and Pearl telling more or less telling him to grow up.

I look forward to the next one ....

Omg!! What an awesome story. Once I started reading I was hooked from the very first paragraph. Blu broke my heart in the beginning of the story but then he met Pearl and his life changed dramatically. Pearl has led a horrific life and Blu is just the one to pull her back to the living.

It was great to catch up with the previous characters even though BLU is all about Blu and Pearl. Be prepared not to do anything else once you start reading! You, like me, will not be able to put this awesome read down. Janelle Kahele is going to have you holding your breath with her words as she pulls you in and never lets you go until the very last page.

My emotions were up and down, kind of like being on a roller coaster. Ms Kahele had me laughing out loud, holding my breath, and flipping the pages like a mad woman! There are some heartbreaking events that are tough to read and I just wanted to reach in and give Pearl a big hug. Be prepared to be sitting on the edge of your seat as you read BLU and not being able to think of anything else but these drama filled characters. I can not wait to read more by this aweome author who has quickly become one of my favorites!!!!!

Blu is in a car with David and Chain and they hit something which to start with they think is a deer. It turns out to be a woman- Pearl who has been held against her will since the age of 8 by “Sir” who demeans her in every way possible. Blu and his friends are very compassionate towards Pearl and help her rebuild her life.
This to me could be a teenage book (other than the use of sex and bad language) as it comes across as that type of story line. There are some very good parts to this but expletives appear to be used when no other word could have been thought of, hence it lacks that quality of writing which is a shame as there is quality in most of this.
The plot is good and the book I felt could have been longer as it tied up very quickly. Although part of the series it would stand alone.

Review:

“The kiss still burned my lips, even as Blu drove home. It was my first real kiss, and it blew me away. I never knew a kiss could be so strong, so deep and it made me want more-so much more of him.”

5 broken stars! Emotionally gripping read!

Pearl has had one hll of a life. She’s finally made her great escape from a man who abused her, but is hit by a car while leaving. Once she wakes up in the hospital she can’t remember anything, but there is a gorgeous man in the hospital with her, with a warm touch. Blu knows about Pearl’s life and he wants to try to make it better for her. He wants to take her pain away as best as he can. The problem? He’s not sure if he really cares for her or if it’s just sympathy.

This book will bring you to your knees while reading! It’s sad and so gut wrenching! I found myself crying at certain parts and needing to be held!! I fell in love with this series, when I read book one, but I think this book is my favorite by far!

Christopher Blu is accomplished and successful in his professional life but his personal life has been in shambles since the women he had loved decided she didn’t love him. Most of this is explored in the last half of book 2.

Pearl is a young women who has been stolen and kept from the world for most of her life. She knows nothing outside of being a prisoner in her own home. Being controlled and manipulated by a man who was physically and emotionally abusive. Pearl managed to escape her prison of a home only to end up on a road and hit by a car.

The car was driven by David, with Blu and Chain as passengers. Blu made an instant connection with Pearl despite all the emotional damage that Sir had done, she still trusted Blu. The rest of the story is Pearl learning to live in today’s society and Pearl and Blu finding their way to each other. Although, nothing is that simple. There are twist and turns that keep you reading this book, including a childhood connection between Pearl & Blu.

Kahele has a great knack for telling these stories. Although, I have to say that I didn’t feel that this one flowed as well as the previous two. I had moments where I wasn’t sure if I was in reality or flashback or fantasy. I also felt like the book had a little bit of time lapse that interfered with a smooth reading experience. Regardless, I wouldn’t have missed this book and I can’t wait for book 4. The author and her characters have me intrigued.

I really loved Pearl. I like sweet, innocent female characters. She was so cute!
As always with this author, it was hard for me to put this book down, which is why I'm giving it lots of stars. Suspenseful and fast-read! =p
I would have liked to read more scenes about Blu's past so as to feel his pain more profoundly. At times, he sent some Christian Grey vibes. During those moments, if Pearl wasn't so fragile, I would have wanted to kick Blu in the nuts, but because Pearl is who she is, I could understand his behavior. Besides, he was super sweet to her. : )
And he was so heartbreaking.
Chain is still my favorite though. ; )

PS: The scenes with David were hilarious! I laughed out loud a few times.
