The story of the Adventures of a Disgruntled Pig tells a compelling tale of what happens when a young pig and his brother go to live on an organic farm in Vermont. You’ll meet Peter and Katherine, the owners of Burelli Farm, who name Howdy and his brother Doody, talk to them and make them feel welcome. But Howdy can’t seem to stop escaping from wherever Peter and Katherine put him. Eventually, he has an exciting adventure in the woods, meets a new family and finds out that living free isn’t necessarily sheer bliss.
I was born in the Bronx, New York in 1944 to immigrant Jewish parents. In 1948, my mother, sister and I went to post-war Germany where my father was involved in resettling concentration camp survivors. My co-author and life partner, Rudi Raab, was born eight days after World War II ended in Germany. His father was a high-ranking Nazi. In 1950, we lived eight miles apart in Hamburg, Germany. Our book, Stumbling Stone, is a historical novel based on our true-life stories.
