TROJAN WAR!

ALBION, IN A TIME OF LEGEND. Celtic warrior Sláine united the tribes of the Earth Goddess Danu and became the first High King of Ireland. After ruling for seven years, he travelled through time to fight for the Goddess in other eras before returning to save his people from the Fomorian sea devils. Now, having journeyed to Monadh to rescue Sinead from the Drune Lords, he must face the powerful might of the Trojan army and their superhuman warrior, the Primordial, in a battle to the death!

This thrilling continuation of The Brutania Chronicles was written by 2000 AD creator Pat Mills (Ro-Busters) and features the breathtaking, painted art of Simon Davis (Missionary Man, B.L.A.I.R. 1).

This ruled, and was a useful aid for learning a bit about Irish myth. The author himself admits in an intro to the previous volume that Celtic stuff isn't as straightforward as Norse/Greek stories, and the part that gets me is keeping track of the name. So this made for a great Saturday afternoon, lazily reading a page and then spending a half hour looking up terms of interest on wikipedia. Really liked the fishhead drune who wore the Salmon of Knowledge.

I have read so much crappier stuff from Mills, so this mediocre thing was a pleasant surprise. Loads of funny manly oneliners, so that was nice. Not too sure about the art though. Too many floating heads talking but the again, good gorey art also.

The second volume of The Brutania Chronicles continues with the struggle of Slaine against the Trojans that invaded Albion. The art is once again phenomenal, touching upon an expressionist style with a high contrast colour palette, big character gestures and rough, minimal detailing.

The second book of brutania chronicles is even worse than the first depicting a yet bigger and meaner warp hero created by the bad guys who is unable to beat slain for so stupid reasons I didn’t believe that pat mils wrote the story! The art is bad and the story is worse. A total disappointment.
