This book was absolutely terrible. Don't waste your time with this foolishness. I'm all about a ratchet book once in a while, but the way my literacy is set up, I couldn't enjoy at all. Many errors, misspellings, poor sentence structure, the narrators couldn't keep the characters straight. And if that wasn't enough, there is a gigantic cliff hanger at the end...just too much!

Sometimes you want to take a break and read something crazy. And nothing delivers crazy like urban fiction. Prove me wrong. As the blurb accurately claims, this is a soap opera in that it is a very contained world. It may be set in and around Washington D.C. but everyone knows everyone and keep running into each other.

For such a short book there's quite a bit of soap opera checks crammed in here. Drug addiction, affairs, revenge, extortion, theft and murder. Makes me wonder what could possibly be left to cover in episode two. Maybe kidnappings, amnesia, and evil twins switching places. The author/authors/whatever takes short cuts by simply referring to characters as resembling C-list celebrities. Fifty percent of the text is composed of brand names. When authors write like this, do they receive ad revenue?

The book (at least the edition I read) is in desperate need of a qualified editor to get a hold of it. Names get mixed up as well as word order in sentences. A character in the throws of passion somehow bites her own neck. Grandchildren turn into nephews and nieces. (Unless Priscilla's husband is also her uncle. Hadn't thought of that.) Simple things that could have and should have been fixed before publishing.

Not good

This came off as a cringe inducing attempt at urban fiction. No offense to the writer, but this was a poor version of every other "gansta" urban story out there. It read as predictable with forced connections between characters, and there was no real plot. The 'plot' is just peppered in there between unrealistic and poorly written overly descriptive sex scenes that I just skipped over. I did like Micheala's story, if the story had focused more on the events in her life and just used her p.o.v it would've been better. It's not an awful story in theory, just poorly executed and doing too much.

Soap Operaish

I was expecting this to be corny but it turned out good. It really is like a soap opera. I probably should not have started this because it could go on and on but too late. I actually like these ratchet wives with the nonsense they got going on. They're really normal because what they do is what some women do in real life. You'll probably read this and see someone you know shining through. It's a messed up version of Waiting to Exhale./Desperate Housewives. So far, it's okay so I'll keep reading for now.

A Book Soap Opera

This is my first time reading a book by this author. I must say it was a very good read right from the beginning. There was a lot of drama going on. I like how the characters were developed. Some of the storyline you can see in real life especially when the crack epidemic was really addictive years ago. I look forward to reading more by this Author.

I picked this book in a blind date challenge in a group I am in and it was page turner, it was just like watching one of the ratchet reality shows on Tv. Michaela, Miya, Taisa and Priscilla are connected in more than one way, this book is full of lies, drama, sex, drugs and secrets. It is just straight Ratchet. I will finish this series because I need to know how it all will blow up.

Interesting

This is a new interesting read for e but I only really liked one of the girls. The hood rat speak and mentality is not for me but other than that, this could be a good series. If it was presented for a more universal audience I think the author could see much success as his characters are interesting and many stories touch on true life events.

The book was alright it was not as drama filled as I expected. Will I read the continuing collections of books in the series probably not

The initial opening line didn't really grab you as much as the title does but I always say judge for yourself it's 99cents or less what do you have to loose

A Reality Show in a Book

Wow, these ladies and their men do not appreciate their livelihood. While most are struggling to get an advanced education, a good job or establish a business, these people are letting themselves be lead down a grainy path. I hope they get their lives back on track.

A page turner

I wonder do Cam wants Maya & since he can't have her, he degrades her... Is he trying to convince himself or what? Maya needs to run as fast as she can from Bobby. Priscilla needs to seek help! Tiasi needs to get a job and to leave Malik alone. Karma is around the corner for all of them, I can feel it!

Pretty good.

This was a pretty decent read. Stayed out kind of slow and took a minute for the drama to get going. It also took a while for the characters to become familiar. Once everything picked up and came together, it was good. I will be reading the next episode!

Pause...

...so the fact that there is interesting drama in this book.. I think the author got too excited while writing it she mixed up characters too many times not to notice, but you can actually read through those mistakes...the Drama is over the top and very, ratchet..

Good read!

Raw and sexy! Loved movement from one character to the next. Did not expect the twists in the plot. Easily connected with the wives and wanted to know more. Can't wait to read episode two.

Realistic

I like that this book presents real issues that women face. My friend suggested this series to me and I’m surprised that I enjoyed reading it. It’s nice to see minority women doing well for themselves and have an understanding that we all face our own issues.

Provocative storyline

I’m enjoying the 1st book of this series, but I need the author(s) to be more proficient in editing and proofreading. Names were transposed and misspelled words make things a bit confusing.

Dnf I just can’t

It’s written with attention to decent grammar, but that’s really the only thing I can recommend everything is so stereotypical and just trashy. I know I should have expected it given the title but I thought for a second I’d get some kind of creativity. I didn’t.

very good, but...

The author's attention to detail were too obvious and irritating. Confusing characters and scenarios kinda ruined the story. Spell check and proofreading is a MUST!!

Ratchet Wives Club

This group of family and friends have a whole lot secrets that is going to create chaos in multiple households.
Ratchet is the right description of these women’s actions.
Great start to this series introducing the characters and situations.

This book kept my interest. Read it in a few hours. Many typos throughout but the reader can definitely discern what the author intended. On to the second book....
