I RECEIVED A COPY OF THIS BOOK FROM THE AUTHOR IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW.

Portuguese's review: https://thegirlwhoreadssbooks.wordpre...

ENG:
I usually don't like this kind of books, about robots and sci-fiction, but I've to say that this book was a huge surprised!
I already read "These Broken Stars" and "Cinder", and I didn't like these two books, so I was a little afraid that I would ended up not liking "Eternal Darkness" either.. But guess what? I LOVED IT. I'll be brave (because some of you may want to kill me, after what I'm about to say haha), but I consider this book better than "Cinder" and "These Broken Stars"! If you like sci-fiction, if you liked the Lunar Chronicles or "These Broken Stars", I totally recommend you all this amazing book! If you have the same opinion as me about this genre or these two books I mentioned before, than you should read this book, either! :)

This is a 4,5 stars (I can't rated it on goodreads, so I gave a 5 out of 5 stars..), because I'm really stubborn! hahaha Ok, in general, this book is definitely a 5 stars' book, but there wasn't even a kiss between my two favorite characters, so Jazmine: I hope I could see, at least, a kiss between those two characters (you probably know who they're) in the next book! hahaha ;)

As I said, this book surprised me a lot! Scarlet is an amazing character, that progressed so well throughout the book. Sam and Eric are amazing, as well. It's impossible not to like these three characters, mainly Eric, who is funny and that reminded me a little bit of Barney (from the series "How I met your mother") and Jace (from the Cassandra Clare's books), for being so coxy/convinced, but as I said, in a funny way, and that's mainly the reason why I liked him so much! The same I can't say about Madeleine. She's arrogant and I don't like her, but I think that a good book should always include that "evil" or "mean" character that nobody likes! haha But her moments with Eric were so funny! I couldn't stop laughing with them!

The books' story is well written. I really liked the author's ideia: One world divided between cyborgs and humans, where a New Government rules. This book let me curious since the beggining and that finale was just.. I can't chose the best word to described it! It let me even more curious! I can't wait to read the next book (luckily, there will be more books!) and see what's commes next!

I think that Jazmine's book deserve to succeed and to be known by the world, because this book is amazing (as I said a thousand times already haha), mostly because create a world, a country, with a government, like this one, is hard and it requires a lot of imagination and talent! So, congrats, Jazmine! You deserve all the success in the world!

WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!!!
-----
2030 the world will know cyborgs
2050 a new government will take the rule and try to eliminate cyborgs
2060 NOW
The story is about a group of Cyborgs, one of them will crash into a human, but is she really human?!
they will take her anyway to their home and figure what she is!

the cyborgs often live in the outskirt, they don't usually eat or drink, only for amusement, they have robotic parts so if one of them gets injured they only fix the circuits in them.
description
There are a group called Slaughters, they kill the cyborgs because they don't see them as human.

Characters:

Scarlet: a human? she looks like a human but she can heal her self quickly! even though she is the protagonist I didn't like her.
description
Sam: a father figure, who have a miserable story, I liked him and how he treated Scarlet <3
description
Eric: my FAV character in this book .. he is so.. so.. caring and loving
description
and others :P

----
An interesting book and incredible idea, I can't believe this is the writer's first book! so much talent!
I loved being human while I read it, I loved being vulnerable.
many things you'll conclude when you read this book.. anyone who is different from you don't need elimination, you dont have to be afraid if you met someone different

After falling in love with the Lunar Chronicles I was really excited to read another book about cyborgs. This book has the same concept of humans with mechanical parts and societies prejudice towards them but it has it own unique twist. The plot and the world were interesting but I felt like the pace was a little slow, especially in the first half. I wasnt always motivated to find out what happened next but being a fan of mystery I was compelled to find out what happened to the main character during those 20 years she cant remember.

The main character is named Scarlet just like in the Lunar Chronicles. Scarlet is a type of advanced cyborg soldier created to kill on command. She remembers being sent to the hospital at 16 but has no memory of anything that has happened in the last 20 years since. After escaping from a strange lab Scarlet runs into a group of cyborgs who take her in after realising shes not quite human. While trying to uncover her past Scarlet must navigate this strange new world where cyborgs are persecuted at every turn.

A couple of Scarlets decisions werent the smartest but she always strives to do the right thing. I liked Scarlets abilities but I felt like she doubted herself too much for my liking. I dont understand why she didnt tell them what she heard about Carl. Shes also blind to how boys feel about her and I was kind of disapointed when I realised there was going to be a love triangle. Eric and Andrew both had there qualities and faults but the scenes with Andrew tended to grip me a bit more. I felt like she had more in common with Andrew but they both made me angry at one point or another.

I really liked Sam and how he took Scarlet under his wing. He was a caring father figure and I could tell he really cared about her. I thought Curtis was a little odd but in a fascinating way. Although I didnt really trust him, especially after he threatened Madeline. Im not sure what part Madeline played in this story except being mean for no reason. I liked the other secondary characters like Matilda, Rori and Andrews sister. I also didnt really trust Alyssa or her boss Lisa but they were fun to read about.

I also didnt understand why there wasnt more people making up there own minds about cyborgs. I felt like too many people just blindly followed the propaganda about cyborgs. The injustice made me really emotional. At the end we still have some question that arent anwsered, like about Alyssa, Curtis and Lucien White. I was also able to predict the twist. I noticed a few writing mistakes but Im assuming these will be fixed it the finished copy. Despite my issues with this book it was still entertaining and Id give it a try if you're into cyborgs.

I read After Darkness, the fourth book in the Eternal Darkness series, several months ago and loved it. I was eager to read Eternal Darkness and see how this dystopian society developed since it takes place almost a hundred years before After Darkness.

Eternal Darkness takes place in a world divided between humans and cyborgs. I was fascinated by the world that Johns created. It describes how the government first created cyborgs, how the development of cyborgs changed society, and how wars in the not-so-distant past affected the present. It also delves into the government’s manipulation of its citizens and how government officials secretly abused and manipulated the system for its own personal gain.

Though it is a work of science fiction, the real-life messages about prejudice, judgment, governmental control, and oppression are universal. The humans, who fear the exceptional capabilities of the cyborgs and blindly and ignorantly follow the dictates of society without question, treat them harshly and enforce regimented, restrictive, and unfair rules and regulations to oppress them.

Interestingly, the characters who are treated as sub-humans display more humanity than the humans. Most of the humans in this story are violent, deceitful, and dangerous, more dangerous than the cyborgs. The cyborgs show mercy, kindness, and empathy. This is the opposite of what one would expect, and I love that the author analyzes the effects of ignorance and fear on society.

The protagonist, Scarlet, is neither and spends much of the story trying to figure out what and who she really is. Scarlet can’t remember 20 years of her life, but brief flashbacks of memory help to put the puzzle pieces of her life back together. She is a wounded and conflicted person who doesn’t quite know where she fits in this new and unusual world that she doesn’t remember. Luckily, she has the help of some fantastic people to help her on her journey.

I love Scarlet’s journey to learn more about herself, and I adore some of the people she meets along the way, especially Sam and Eric. Sam has a father-figure vibe and has a kind and supportive nature that Scarlet desperately needs. Eric is a cocky bad-ass who uses his self-assured attitude to hide his pain. He is witty and sarcastic, and I absolutely love him. I’m eager to read the next book in the series to see how these relationships develop and change.

Eternal Darkness is a great story for readers who like SFF with well-developed characters and some nail-biting action. Thanks so much to Netgalley and the author for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.

FR REVIEW :

DISCLAIMER : Thank you, J.F.Johns for providing me with an ARC of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Eternal Darkness is the first book in the Eternal Darkness series. This book is a dystopian science-fiction. I have already read After Darkness which is the fourth book in this series. It takes place 160 years after the third book ended. I was intrigued by the history of the cyborg and human war and the character's past. So I requested the author for review copies and got them approved. Finally, I was able to get back into the fascinating world of humans, cyborgs, and X-prototypes. I enjoyed After darkness so much and was so excited to read the book that kicked-off the journey for humans and cyborgs.

We get introduced to Scarlet Lock and her found-family in this book. We follow their journey as they try to take down the corrupt government. Scarlet Lock escapes from a government facility to get hit by a car. She finds herself healing quickly from her injuries and wonders what she is. She has no memory of who she is or what had happened to her. The cyborgs who hit her take her into their home and they are trying to figure out who she is. Not every cyborg is enthused by the idea of a new person among them. And Scarlet is forced to navigate the world she woke up in with less information regarding her past.

The story is fantastic and is a solid debut from the author. I loved her writing style and storytelling. The pacing was great. I was invested in the story and the characters. I had a great time reading this book. There were enough intrigue and suspense regarding Scarlet's life that I wanted to see how she came to be and the role she will play in bringing down the government. I just couldn't put the book down.

I enjoyed this book so much. The plot and characters kept me captivated throughout. This was a great debut and a fantastic start to the series. I gave the book 4.5 stars and highly recommend trying this series out if you love dystopian YA sci-fi series. I am so excited to read the next book in the series and find out what happened. Make sure to pick up this series, I guarantee you will love it.

Eternal Darkness is the genre which I don’t usually read. I think this is my first book that I read about cyborg and it was interesting. I liked the concept and idea!

The story was about the world in a few years later. There is cyborg world and a human world. The story started when Scarlet Lock ran away from the hospital and she met Sam, Curtis, Madeleine and Eric when she was running away. A cyborg was still a human. However, when human discovered this experiment, they saw cyborgs as freaks. Scarlet Lock was something else. She maybe a government killing weapon.

The plot was really good and interesting. Everything is amazing and makes sense. I liked the writing and the way it was written was wonderful. It was a bit slow paced in the beginning but it’s getting more interesting after a few pages.

The main character is Sacrlet Lock. She’s was an okay character but sometimes I felt irritated when she became hard-headed. I liked Eric and Andrew. These two are my favorite characters. Other characters were just fine and they have played their parts well. And they felt real to me.

I need the book 2 because the ending left me curious!

All in all, if you like story about cyborg and dystopian, I think this is your book.

Thank you NetGalley for sharing this book in return for an honest review.

Having this on my “currently reading” shelf while not actually reading it was bothering me, so it’s getting shelved somewhere else.

I love the writing and this world is very intriguing, so I hope to come back to this at some point! Not ready to give up on it yet!

RATING: 4.5 stars

Things I liked about this book:

• Eternal Darkness is not really from my genre of books. I have read very few books about cyborgs and dystopian future. But this book captivated my interest, and I just couldn't let go of the book till I reached the very last page!

• The characters are real. Whether its father figure-like Sam, confusing Madeleine, charming Eric or messed up Andrew, they are all so real and familiar. Every character felt inportant in one way or the other.

• Romance angle: I just loved the romance angle of this book!!! The boys, Eric and Andrew, are both so amazing in their own ways, I don't know who is better. I can't decide my ship yet, I need the next book NOW!

• That ending! Holy mother of Cliffhangers!!!!

• This book is everything it claims to be in the blurb. It really had suspense, romance, action- it won't let you down.

Things I did not like about it:

Its a bit slow paced in the beginning. And I didn't LOVE Scarlet, the main character. She does go through some character development, so by the ending, she grew on me.

Overall:

If you like cyborg stories, THIS IS YOUR BOOK. If you like dystopian novels, THIS IS ALSO YOUR BOOK. If you have never read sci-fi/ cyborg / dystopia, and you want to try one, yes, READ THIS BOOK ALREADY.

This is a great story from a genre I normally don't read, but I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed the content. It's a dystropic society where cyborgs and humans live side by side. It pulls on the emotions of what makes us human and the relationships that we have. I always enjoyed the characters and their interactions.

I am struggling with my review because I can't figure out why I wasn't completely over the moon with this and I believe that the characters could have been a bit better developed. I loved them at the beginning of the book, but by the end, I didn't feel anything. Maybe it's just me....

I will read the second installment and hopefully it will reinvigorate my love for the characters.

A special thank you to NetGalley, Amazon Publishing, and J.F. Johns for providing me with a copy.

Such an interesting concept!

I wasn’t sure at first, it took me a while to get into the flow of the writing style as the story was being set up, but I am so glad that I stuck with it.

Eternal Darkness is set way in the future, where humans have been experimenting with scientific upgrades. This story to me was like a mashup of Battlestar Galactica meets Dark Angel meets The Darkest Minds, and I really enjoyed the world building and the very human aspects of the cyborgs. I mean, they had more humanity than the actual humans in the book.

I may check out the rest of the books in the series in the future and see how the story plays out.

Thank you to J.F. Johns and NetGalley for an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Eternal Darkness is a young adult dystopian story with lots of intriguing parts, interesting plot, and awesome characters.

The story was about our world years later, where it is now divided between humans and cyborgs. A cyborg was still a human, but they just have robotic parts, and it enhanced their senses and make their work easier. When people discovered this experiment, everything changed. The human saw cyborgs as freaks, and they treat them lowly. Now, our main character was neither of the two categories. She was something else and what makes it more intriguing was when they say that she was a government killing weapon.

This novel just makes me like anything that has something to do with robots! The plot is amazing, and I can’t still grasp why it ended soon with my craving for more. All I know is that this book just became one of my great reads this new year.

The plot was really good, and I can see it happening in the future – the chance of changing the human’s body parts into some robotic parts and it was not impossible because of the new innovations today and the fast advances in medical technology.

The way it was written was wonderful. I love how the author writes it. The way she describes the scene was great, and sometimes I find myself reading it silently in a sing-song manner and savoring each word.

The characters were nice and amazing, especially Eric. I am so in love with his character. He was just the man that I’d love to meet someday.

The main character, Scarlet, was fine and understandable, but sometimes I find her irritating when she can’t even see the feelings of people around her and when she also became hard-headed.

There were so many characters that I’d love to give comments on, but it’ll be a long list so I won’t talk about them for now but, I’d just like to say that I adore Matilda because she just made me like her by making me laugh on whatever she did on the story.

Now, the end just ended my dreams! Just kidding! The ending really makes me want to throw my e-reader because I want more and I’m so curious about who Lucian is. I want to know more of who he is, and for that, I’ll be needing the next book!

Am I recommending this? No, I don’t want to share this beautiful book. Yes, of course! This is one of my best reads this year remember so, I know you’ll like this one unless you don’t want anything that has something to do with robots.

In this book we follow a world where the humans and cyborgs are separated. Cyborgs are treated pretty badly by the government because they are seen as man-made and augmented. We follow a "human" named Scarlet as she learns more about who she is and why she is so different from everyone else. I like our fmc, she's ruthless but doesn't realize how ruthless she can be. Fast paced. Great plot and plot twists. Definitely will be reading the rest of the trilogy

I absolutely love Eternal Darkness by J.F.Johns! There is so much character development throughout the book, especially Scarlet, the protagonist. My favourite characters are Scarlet, Eric and Madeleine, although I like most of the characters.
This is the first cyborg related book I have read and I loved the plot, it was very well thought out and engaging, overall, I enjoyed reading it.
I also love the romance element in this book, I'm definitely on Eric's team! There is a huge cliffhanger, that definitely makes you want to read the next book!

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

The year is 2060.
Scarlet Lock wakes up in a lab where she is unknowingly been for the last 20 years.
Society is cyborg-ridden. The humans, in fear of their abilities segregate the community, the cyborgs being the lesser. Over the years, several groups have formed to rid the society of the cyborgs, through murder.
After discovering that she is not exactly human, Scarlet wants answers, who were those people that held her captive? Why can't she remember her past? What is she?
She is taken home by Sam, a cyborg with a past, and Curtis- a myterious figure with red eyes.
They enlist the help of Eric, a blonde haired charmer, to find out what she is.
But Sam, Curtis and Eric are controlled by Lisa, a cyborg spy in the new government, who only agreed to let Scarlet go home to Mercy Cross in the agreement that she will help expose and destroy the Slaughterers- an undercover cyborg culling association.

I thought the majority of the characters in Eternal Darkness were well developed. We have our protagonist Scarlet who pretty typical of a YA novel, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Sam was meant to be a fatherly figure towarss Scarlet but I'm afraid to say I never really understood that connection, it was only present at the end. I'm the beginning I thought he was the love interest! I didn't really have an opinion on Curtis, although I did find his character a bit shifty. Rory and Matilda were really refreshing characters- I enjoyed reading about them and I hope we get more of their story in the second novel. Eric- I loved. And of course I would, he's blonde, brash, and has a Jace Wayland ego!
The concept I found really intriguing, an uncommon route in Sci-Fi, written excellently. It wasn't intimidating either- and I think this really made me fly through it The easy reading made it feel fast-paced, energetic and satisfying.
I did find that when I reached about the 150 mark, I was so engrossed in the ScarletxEric relationship building that I think the plot fell away a little. I think the world building was a bit lacking and that I would like to have seen more of it.

Eternal Darkness is a fast-paced, refreshing read that had me captured since the beginning. I would recommend it to Sci-Fi lovers as well as young adults looking for something a bit different.
I've heard that the second book will be due soon, and after that cliffhanger I will certainly be reading it!

PS. I'd just like to thank Jazmin for sending me a copy of Eternal Darkness, you are so lovely, and it's a brilliant debut! x

Eternal Darkness has a whole new world which is divided between humans and cyborgs. Our main character, Scarlet Lock, is neither. Her memory has been erased and the first person that she sees is actually a cyborg, Sam. With the help of a group of cyborgs, Scarlet soon discovers that this new world is a dangerous place, full of government secrets and cruel experiments performed in the name of progress.

J.F. Johns, creats a world quite different from what I had read. I think the details were very well explained and on the right time. In consequence, the book wasn’t boring in the moments of introduction to the world.
I must say that there were a few moments that reminded me of Hunger Games. For example, the fact that the lands were divided into capitals and Capital 1 was the most luxurious; Or the fact that there is a sign of revolution that protesters use against the regime. Yes, there is also a revolution against the government.

I confess that I loved the characters. Scarlet is a character that is looking for her true self (relatable) and grows up throughout the book. And what about Eric? I love him! I know that what I will say must seem weird, but I really like Madeleine. She is a cyborg who is always messing around with everyone, specially Scarlet or, as she calls her, "Scarface". I think that she is a very different character with a really funny way of being.

Another detail of the book that I really enjoyed were the little but really well-thought flashbacks that Scarlet had. They give us some clue about who she is/was and what happened to her. Btw, I love the whole story of who she is and why she exists.

With captivating writing, Johns has demonstrated that she is able to create a peculiar but captivating and interesting story with a really cool world. What about the end?? I could not have been more intrigued!

I rate this book with 4.3 in 5.

When can I read the continuation??

Looooved this book!

It's been quite some time since i read something quite as unique as this!:)
The characters:
Scarlet; I really liked her, the way she is and behaves. She was brave and scared, tough and weak, and throughout the book she really makes you think about your humanity.
Andrew: I actually liked him. I felt soooo bad for him and his situation. I really do hope to see more of him in the next book.
Sam: Ohhhh, I looooooved Sam, he's so sweet and caring and I just loved it when he kept saying "kiddo" to Scarlet.
Madeleine: She's a real bitch, but I loved her too. She made me laugh so bad at times!
Eric: OH MY GOD ERIC!
So, I've left Eric for the end, because... I fell in love with him so bad. I can't even explain it. He's like this really bad boy type of character, broken and angry with the world, but then you realise he's actually so sweet and caring. I loooved the way he was with Scarlet, and his comments were soooo freaking hilarious!

"I said, mind your own business,"Scarlet repeated, more loudly this time. Eric swerved around and closed the space between them, his face leaning in closer and closer by the second.
"From now on, Beauty," he said, "you are my business."

I mean, seriously??? How am i supposed to not fall for this guy????
If you haven't read this book yet, please do so. Even if it's just for Eric Thorn!!!!

I received a free copy of this book from the author.

Aside from the excessive lip biting, this book was great. The story was original but it did remind me of Divergent at times. Scarlet (the protagonist) is easy to relate to and it was enjoyable discovering the world she just woke up in (after twenty years) with her. I didn't like one of the characters (called Madeline). She was just so grumpy and ill-tempered throughout the book. I thought there would be some sort of back story or explanation but there wasn't so I couldn't understand her at all. There was a major cliffhanger. I can't wait to read what happens next.

I know I should probably be talking about the book and the main character, but i still cant get over Eric. I'd read this book over and over just for him.

REVIEW: This was the first book I read about cyborgs and I loved it, it turned out to be a great surprise! I gave it 5 stars because as it was my first book about this matter I didn't know if I would like it and the fact that I did and the fact that the book was a page turner (in my opinion) there was just one option to rate it.

First of all, well done for writing so well, Jazmine. The book is really well written, you can follow the story and don't get confused between those flashbacks, which btw were so damn good, they kept me so interested, craving for more and were really enlightening .

The charactes are such a great bunch. I guess I kind fell in love with each and every one of them. Scarlet is my favorite, you can see her progress throughout the book and you pretty much fall in love with her in the first few pages. Her personal story is so well explained that you have empathy towards her specially every time she has a flashback. Eric was my favorite boy-character, he's so funny and definetely lightens the mood in the book, he has his problems but I think that made me love him even more, despite everything he is just the best! Madeline is my least favorite, she is so arrogant and that made me hate a BIT but I think there's something there, something related to her past that makes her be that way, that's why I still have hope and that's why I don't hate her that much (YET!). The other characters are really likable and Sam, of course, is like that father figure needed in the lives of those cyborgs.

While I was reading the book I was picturing it turned into a movie. I would love to see that, the book is so good it should reach another level. And also because I really wish for Jazmine to have a lot of success, it takes a great writer to write something like this, so intriguing and captivating and with a lot of details so well explained that only someone with great talent can do. It has totally blown me away and that end got me on edge, what a Cliffhanger (worse than The Walking dead's cliffhanger on the season 6 finale).

Overall, as you might have already seen I really loved this book and I totally sugguest it to you, you will love it and if you never read anything about cyborgs (like me) this book is a great way to introduce you to this type of genre. Can't wait (and NEED) to read the next one!

🦋 Eternal Darkness, the first book of a series about a future where cyborgs “coexist” with humans. The idea is awesome, the kind of science fiction I really like. No doubts I liked it! Even though the story didn’t win my heart, the author has a truly sublime way of writing. Detailed descriptions and characters with a very strong personality. Maybe it didn’t hooked me totally because this book serves as an opening to a bigger story. I highly recommend you this book if you like future based stories and long series. Btw, the writer is an excellent person that I had the chance to met, I urge you to follow her! @writersmania .

***Thank you to @netgalley and @jfjohns for the #freebook in exchange for an honest review***#eternaldarkness is written by J. F. Johns and is available on #amazon, #nook, and #kindle

Overview:The year is 2060 and the world is divided between cyborgs and humans. Humans are the dominant race and the New Government will do anything to keep it that way.

Enter Scarlet Lock. She is neither human nor cyborg, but a governmental experiment designed to kill. With the help of a group of Cyborgs, Scarlet seeks to find the truth of her existence.

Rating: 4/5 stars
Gene: YA, Dystopian
POV: Third Person
Theme: Action, Adventure, Futuristic, Fantasy

Review:The story starts as Scarlet wakes up in the government facility, unable to remember anything from the last 20 years. As she escapes, she is hit by a couple of Cyborgs as she runs through a street. They take her in and give her a place to live as she figures out who she is and what has been happening. Throughout this first installment, Scarlet makes many new friends and a potential love interest. There is a twist at the end that makes you want to read book 2. The writing makes it easy to read.

Recommend: Yes, I am also buying book 2!

Received an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.
Thanks to YA Bound Book Tours for the opportunity to read and review Eternal Darkness by J.F. Johns! In a world of humans, cyborgs and human-cyborg combinations, Scarlet finds herself in the Year 2060 with no memory of the past twenty years. Sam and Curtis find Scarlet while driving. Scarlet appears on the road in front of them; they don't stop in time and they hit her. Scarlet is dead, but little by little she heals herself. They discover that she's a weapon that can be activated at any time. I enjoyed the diverse characters: Sam is selfless, Perisia seems a bit loony and Eric is comical. The characters are complex and dynamic and each of them has a story of their own. Scarlet is in the middle of a brewing prejudicial war and she has no idea why. Her newfound friends protect and care for her as well as help her recover her memories. The sides confront each other and Scarlet protects who she cares about. This is only the beginning of the war! I rate Eternal Darkness 4 stars for an interesting science fiction plot and the great character pool!

I really loved how the writing style followed third person POV because J F Johns was able to give feelings and thoughts to each character instead of just our main character, Scarlet. I really came to love some and heavily dislike some as well. Most of the characters were very well developed and all have a unique backstory, but there are a couple we didn't get much insight to. With what happened at the end, though, I feel that is coming in book two!
I really enjoyed the descriptive style as well. All descriptions were slowly given, like subtle things noticed about a person's face or a specific piece of scenery, because in reality, that is how we perceive as well. Spending more and more time with people and places, you still discover more things. It was also slowly revealing for characters and plot, so there was no info dumping which was SO appreciated. There was also no insta love, and gosh that is so refreshing

For the first book about cyborgs that I’ve ever read, I definitely wasn’t disappointed with Eternal Darkness! @writersmania sent me a copy of the ebook so that I could review it and I got half-way through and decided I needed the hardcopy in my life too! I got a lot of different vibes from this story - very 5th Wave/Hunger Games/Divergent, but all in the best way possible. For a little while in the middle I was worried that maybe the story was dragging on too much and I was starting to get confused, but then I realised that there were other books to come and then I slowed down and things started to piece together again and everything made sense. I’m really happy with how it ended and I’m so ridiculously torn about whether I’m Team Eric or Team Andrew - Madeline also kind of does my head in but I have high hopes that her demeanour is explained in the next instalment. Bring on Oblivion!

J. F. Johns did it for me with this book! This book is the first book of the series and it was phenomenal.

The book is about a girl that wake up in a facility with part of her memory loss. She is helped by cyborgs by trying to help her with her memory and keep her up to date about the New Government and the laws that affect the relationship of humans and cyborgs. Through out the story she had to make decisions of who to trust and find the reason why she lost her memory.

What I love about this book is that I couldn't put it down. I was so into the story that I was sad when I finish it. I love how I was able to read from different POV, how the story never got to a point that I was bored with the story, and the ending had me wanting the next book. I think a person who loves Sci-Fi will love this book.

I was really intrigued by this story, so was excited to start reading it.

I thought the fictional world was really unique and interesting; the connection between humans and cyborgs was great to read about. I also thought the characters really developed over the course of the book, and I ended up having a strong emotional connection to them.

However, it felt like too much of a slow burn for me. It took me a really long time to get into it fully, and by the time I did it was kind of too little, too late. I wish the story had pulled me in a lot sooner. I just felt the book lacked the level of depth that I really want in a fantasy/dystopian book like this, and the writing was a little simplistic for my taste.

I'm confident, however, that many others would enjoy the book more than me.

This book turned so much better than I expected it to be. It is a page turner and it really hooked me and lured me to read page after page, chapter after chapter. What I truly love about it is that it is full of emotions, action and revelations. The characters are all distinct from one another and they all have a past experience that explains their present selves. You won’t regret reading this book because Jazmin truly knows how to keep a reader’s attention and interest.
