Protect and Serve is the title of the first book in an anthology with the same name. It brings together a by the book detective, Sandra Williams and a bad boy playboy Nathan Hale. Together they are explosive and the work to bring down a human traffic ring ran by the Irish mob. It is full of lots of danger, lots of excitement and betrayal and Nathan and Sandra still find a permanent relationship together.

Sandra and Nathan were a likable couple but I just couldn't completely feel the attachment with these two. Sandra was from what I can gather a hard working police detective that started sleeping with billionaire Nathan when he mistook her for a hooker one night she was on duty in her rookie days and took her virginity. So I guess naturally the sex was so good that she kept going back for more until one day she realises he doesn't want more from her than what she's already getting. Then fast forward a few years I'm gathering and Sandra is sent to be the detective to watch over Nathan while he is in protective custody. There's a few drama's along the way but all in all a happy ever after for these two.

This story is action-packed, filled with corrupt cops, betrayal and deceit. Underneath the raw sex and excessive profanity Ms. Nikki weaves an awesome story. The first time Officer Sandra Williams met billionaire Nathan Hale, he confused her with the hooker he hired to play a policewoman. Unbelievable! Sandra finally ends the affair because she knows Nate is just wasting her time. Then Sandra is assigned to protect Nate when he becomes a witness against the Irish mob. Now it gets good!

This book gets a 4 because it literally held my attention & wouldn't let go. I loved all the suspense throughout the whole book. It's neat to find a heroine that's the protector instead of just a love interest. I think not being the norm is a major reason I really enjoyed it!!

I enjoyed this story of the alpha billionaire and the detective he once was with, meet again and are forced to spend time together. I enjoyed the story line and the connection between the two.
