Fresh out of prison, Sylvain returned home to make good on the promise he made his sister long ago. But the landscape of his life has changed.
Sylvain's new love affair gives temporary refuge, yet the peace cannot last. His sister is frightened, while his father feeds that fear to turn her against him.
Meanwhile, suspicions cloud the back of Sylvain's mind about the loyalty of his new lover.
Above all? The twisted Alastair family legacy lurks in the background...
I live near beautiful Seattle, Washington. I grew up reading all types of fantasy books before discovering the wonderful world of romances in high school.

This is the fourth serial in 'The Alastair Affair' series. An incredibly quick read, it can easily be read in a single sitting. Don't let the length fool you, though. Ms. Edwards packs a lot of detail into each serial installment.
Once again, the story takes us back into Sylvain's past. Dani isn't a factor in this serial, as all of the events described transpired years before she entered the picture. Leila and her relationship with the Alastair men, both father and son, are at the center of this section of the story. Twisted and scandalous are probably the best descriptors I can use to describe the dynamics of this trio.
Sylvain's sister, Bianca, also plays a predominant role in this serial. Readers are provided glimpses of.her life, providing hints as to the extent of her mental illness and the hopes she had for a different life. Finally, we learn the specifics about the events which precipitated her tragic demise.
I understand fully why Ms. Edwards chose to return to Sylvain's past again. This serial was essential to understanding the man that he later became. It is easy to see how these events could transform a person into someone unrecognizable. For the first time, I felt sorry for Sylvain and everything he was put through by those who claimed to love him.
However, I do hope that the back and forth between Sylvain's past and present will settle down. All the time travel is starting to give me whiplash! I get that he had a really screwed up past, but I want to know more about his equally screwed up relationship with Dani.
The style is very similar to the 'Uncovering You' series by the same author. There were a fair amount of grammatical errors and typos as well. They weren't bad enough to spoil the story for me, but on a more "OCD" day, it might have proved to be highly irritating.
All in all, I liked this serial. If you like quick, intense, dark serials, then this is a good choice. I will definitely be continuing this series. I'm pretty sure that after the events in this book, Sylvain will be a changed man.
I have to say, I'm disappointed. I knew this would be dark but its just a group of sick People all gathered around to hurt each other. There is no love, there isn't even any like. I've read lots of books by this author And I'm sorry to say this is the worst. I can't figure out why I would want to continue to read this.....there is nothing to hold onto. I wish there was a speck of light at the end of this tunnel. Maybe someone else, or the author can tell Me if i have anything of any loving nature On the horizon. As much as I love this author I think I will stop reading this series.
At first I was disappointed in the novel I wanted more of Dani outcome ending in book 3. But, realized you had to explain Sylvain history to understand the dark side of the man within. The importance of the story being created. So we'll done Scarlett you hooked me again and I believe this is a good read and should be followed to the end. Please created the next pages of the coming novel in the next few months hate the wait.
Fantastic series!!! Sylvain, god he breaks my heart, he's so tortured, twisted and constantly being hurt. Why doesn't he just take out the old twisted sick bastard? I am loving these stories. After this one, I'm hoping he seeks his revenge on everyone who hurt him and his sister Amazing, heartbreaking story
I can't seem to wrap my mind around the way this series is written. The first book was great. The second was strange, full of flashbacks. Not a fan. And then this book also contains nothing of Dani. Really not feeling it.
