Being a mother of 2 sometimes makes one wonder, "Are the monsters running around the house scarier than the ones I write about?" I haven't answered that question just yet! My name is Nikki Noffsinger and I am the author of Cursed Awakening published by Evolutionary Publishing. I write all sorts of stories but my favorites are all inspired by my love of fantasy and the paranormal. I started at a tender age loving both books and horror movies and writing paranormal romance gives me a vehicle. I write for the phenomenal Canadian publishing companies: Evolutionary Publishing and Ladybee Publsihing and I have signed with my first US publisher: Cobblestone Press. I am proud to be part of both.

This is my first book by Ms. Noffsinger and I have to say I enjoyed it! The world building could have used some more factual information, as being someone of Lakota heritage, I could find little among the character’s information that made me identify with them as Lakota. While Ms. Noffsinger got the feel of being indigenous very well, the story could have used a few more facts about the Lakota woven into it, for example, the location, regalia, language etc. that would have helped round out the story and made it more believable. Because these things were not there, it made it feel more as if the author simply picked a tribe and then made up stuff about them rather than try and find out more about the culture and how to make it fit her storyline. Despite this, the story itself is very enjoyable, the love scenes sensual and emotional, and the hint of danger did not hurt either. I also liked Lahni and Shiloh as people, and it was easy to relate to them as people, just not as Lakota Sioux. Overall, this is a good story and as long as you take it as a fantasy romance and not anything in anyway factual with regards to the Lakota, I have no problem recommending it to others. And yes, I will definitely be checking out this author’s other books!
