I was a rock star in one of the most successful bands in the Miami area.
I had a new woman (or two.. or three… or four) every night…until I met HER!
Ain’t life a motherf*cker.
Can you f*cking believe it? I had to go to rehab “for my own safety.” Pffft!
F*ck it. I’ll spend a few weeks doing some bullsh*t art projects and waste some time listening to a bunch of idiot addicts bitch about how their parents never loved them.
Just my luck, while I was just chillin’, waiting for my dealer to find someone else to blame for his stolen stash, I met my hottest wet dream in the form of a counselor who wouldn’t just let me slide.
Just when I thought I couldn’t be in a worse situation, one little f*ck-up—a little fun in the art room with this counselor, the hottest piece of ass I’ve ever laid eyes on—and we were both on our asses in the street.
To make things worse, the chick that I thought was my “hottest wet dream” became my angel. And I’m not about to let anyone—not even Big J and not even my own stupid f*cked-up self—ruin the little taste of heaven she gives me.

This is my first Jade Allen book, and I was pleasantly surprised. It's a short listen that has hot sex, gorgeous well developed characters, suspense and intrigue. It is about Alex North hiding from a drug lord in a rehab center. There he meets Mary, his counselor. After a trist in the art room, Mary is fired and Alex is removed from rehab. They go to Mary's house since Mary felt it would be safe for Alex. Alex's band mates come over and a plan is hatched. During this whole ordeal, it is unclear whether Alex really wants to clean up his life or not, but in the end, if he is going to die anyway, does it really matter? Well, I could tell you the ending, but it's better if you listen!
D.C. Cole has an amazing voice for this book. It's raspy and sexy, perfect for the rocking, bad boys. I am looking forward to the rest of this series and hope Jade let's it out in audio!
--I was given this book in exchange for an honest review
After seeing a blurb about this book along with an offer to receive a free Audible audiobook copy in exchange for an honest review, I requested a copy. This was my first book by this author so I had no idea what to expect. I've read many erotic romance stories about rock stars and the various female characters they screw so my hopes weren't very high. The first 99% of the book was fantastic! I was pleasantly surprised by Ms. Allen's storytelling style. Although I can't define what exactly is is about the way she writes, there is something special about it. In an extremely small number of pages, I was able to feel the connection between the two main characters. It's a fast paced story that moves along quickly yet nothing felt rushed. NORTH doesn't have a extraordinarily innovative premise either yet it wasn't totally predictable and was consistently entertaining. I enjoyed the first 99% of this book so much that I was sure I'd be continuing on to read the other books in the series and while listening to most of this book thought i'd be rating it 5 stars. Sadly, things change at the very, very end: Ms. Allen and did this book with a frustrating, disappointing, ultra-abrupt ending. I can appreciate a cliffhanger but that's not what we get. This fast-paced, consistently flowing book just stops all of a sudden! It felt to me like the author just wanted to be done with the book and ended it! Everything was so great until the very last…
PERFORMANCE: Male narrator D.C. Cole gave a phenomenal performance! He perfectly represented the male main character Alex North and spoke well book as the female main character too. The only time I didn't love his performance was when he spoke as a few of North's band members; I thought that the voices he used for some of the other men was a bit over exaggerated and silly. Overall though, Mr. Cole is obviously very talented and is definitely a narrator I look forward to hearing much more of
North is the epitome of clichés; a hard rock band member goes to rehab to hide from his revenge seeking dealer, who is convinced Alex North stole from him. While there he sleeps with his counselor, resulting in both of them being kicked out. With nowhere else to hide, he stays with her and falls in love. What a surprise!
What makes this book better than other cliché stories? What happens after! I expected the first part and saw what was coming from a mile away, but then, BAM surprises and twists kept coming. I can’t say much more without spoiling the book for you. I can tell you this much; A completely and totally great read! Not only will Alex’s actions surprise you, but Mary (the counselor) with make your jaw drop.
I listened to the audio version of this book, and would recommend this to all readers. I’m not a fan of all the detailed intimacy but still loved it. I will warn readers; this is not a book to listen to in a car with kids; the audio version is definitely rated R. The narrator did a great job too.
Overall; a quick and smooth story, great writing with excellent character development, 4 Boundless stars for North. I’ve already started Nick, book 2 of the series, and look forward to hearing his story....Beth
I received this audio book for review. This is a short rocker story, no cliff hanger and it didn't feel rushed. There are hot sex scenes and drug use in the story which the drugs are something I can really do without but I was able to overlook them for the story.
The audiobook narrator had a smooth deep voice that was nice but it kept making my mind drift off and not pay as much attention to the words as I liked so I found myself rewinding to re-listen. I really don't want to complain about his voice cause i liked it but it relaxed me too.
This was my first book from this author and first audio from this narrator. The book was ok. There was insta-lust but I expect that in a romance novella. I wish I could have got Mary's POV because I just really didn't understand a lot of her actions. I think this book could have been really good if it was a full novel. Not a bad listen though. I would probably read another book from this author.
The narrator was DC Cole and this was the first audio I listened to with him. He was ok. Some of the voices he did for the other band members sounded a like drugged up but I think he meant them to sound that way. I would try another from this narrator though.
I received a copy for free in exchange for your honest review.
Alex goes to rehab to clean up. He says that his band and label sent him. Mary is a counselor there at the rehab. She keeps telling Alex That's not really an answer when he wants to blame the band mates and label. Alex finally tells Mary why he is in rehab. Something happens between Alex and Mary that changes there life. I loved the story line and plot. It was a short read but a good one. I received a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.
Sooo… NORTH. It is a fast-paced novella by Jade Allen about rock stars and drug use. So, rock stars are known for partying hard, true. But even though North was recovering from his use there were permanently drugs involved, either by him or his band mates. It was just too much for me and a sure sign that I am wary about picking up the sequels.
Then we have the narrator, D. C. Cole. Whereas I loved his own smooth voice and also especially the one he gave North, North’s band mates all sounded drugged or high or drunk and just… yikes. To like them was not possible for me. Would I listen to other works of him? Yes – because I am sure that different side characters would also have gotten different voices from him.
I might not have a lot good things to say about the book, but I still give it 3 stars overall, because as much as I am lamenting, I somehow liked North as well as Mary, and also the storyline. There was easily enough happening that this book kept me on the edge – and it might have been even better if it was a bit longer – maybe with insight into Mary’s head as well.
Musician heads to rehab for treatment and to hide from dealer, sleeps with his counselor and begins to fall for her. What starts out as a predictable story is anything but. North, thanks to author Jade Allen, does great work of keeping you guessing and glued to your headphones with every twist and turn of the story. Narrator D. C. Cole's performance is sizzling. He takes the book to he next level of awesome.
He was in rehab, but trying to get clean, just attending and not participating. Mary was the councilor who seemed to understand him. She wouldn't let him bullsh*t his way around things. Then he told her really why he was there, and things moved from there. The writer's version is far more appealing than my brief synopsis would be. I look forward to the next episode in this series.
This is my first read by Jade Allen. I must say I really enjoyed it. What a great vibe to set as a series. Can't wait to read more about this band. I loved reading about North and Mary. What a crazy, unique couple.
This book ticked all the boxes for me - sexy, troubled rocker, witty band banter, sexy HOT scenes and a swoony romance! I just wish that this book was longer and the author had explored the relationship more! 3.5 rocker stars!!
Very short. North meets Mary when he goes to rehab and she becomes his counselor. North is also hiding out there because a big time drug dealer, Big J, thinks North ripped him off.
I am lukewarm on this story. Didn't find much of a rock story in it.
I'm going to enjoy this series because it was a hood fast read and its going to help me make sure I finish my book reading challenge for the year on GoodReads I always give my honest opinion and review even if the book has been given to me free from the author
Oh damn this narrator! His voice is smooth as butter well not really more gritty, growly, smexy, but you ladies know what I mean. He could read the phone book and I would listen that’s how yummy it is on my ears.
So I enjoyed this short story, Alex is hiding in a rehab from his dealer. Where he meets Mary one of the counselors. There attraction toward each other kind of explodes and they get caught after their tryst. He is kicked out of the program and Mary is fired. And since Alex is still trying to avoid his dealer, Mary brings him home.
I won’t go on to say more than this because it’s really is a great short story and one I am glad I got to listen to. I want more, from not only this narrator but the author.
Have a sung the narrators praises enough.. What can I say he brings the baby to life, it was just so enjoyable to listen to.

***Listened to the Audiobook*** This short, fast paced story took me by surprise. I knew nothing about it before going in, and loved that it had a little of everything. It was funny, sarcastic, emotional, sexy and suspenseful. It also had a depth that made it satisfying. North is in rehab for more reasons than getting clean. Mary is his counselor and tries to help him as he suffers the side affects of withdrawal. He doesn't really like her at first but that soon changes for both of them. Mary has her flaws as well and their chemistry soon draws them together. There are some twists and turns that happen and a bit of suspense towards the end adding to the excitement. I really liked the narrator, D. C. Cole. His voice was hypnotizing and his inflections were spot on. He really made this book more enjoyable for me. If you like fast paced, sexy, funny, and suspenseful stories, you should definitely give this a listen!
Rock star Alex North is hiding in rehab, from his drug dealer. He's accused of stealing but he didn't do it. Rehab is where he meets counselor Mary and the story takes off from there.
Good, fast paced story line. I had a hard time finding a balance between at work, counselor Mary versus at home, relaxed, foul mouthed Mary. I couldn't find anything I actually liked about her. I think Alex was way more into her then than she was him. Alex was true to his character. He is the sexy, tattooed, dirty talking rock star. I loved him! Each of the band members were great and had differing personalities. I am anxious to know their stories.
Received a copy in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed is my own.
Again! I totally enjoyed this book. And, I was even more skeptical of this one than the last, or rather second since I listened to them out of order. After listening to the first one though, I knew I wanted to listen to this one. At the very least I would see if I just liked the previous book, or if I'd likely found another author. Jade Allen took something that I thought sounded far fetched in this one and made it believable. Not only is this not normally my sub genre, but the plot sounded like it might be a little over the top. And, short stories usually don't do it for me. They are usually too short and feel incomplete. But, yet again, I was surprised. And, D.C. Cole? His performance just brings the characters to life. Really great combination here. Can't wait to see what's next.
This was the first book I've read by Jade Allen. I was gifted the book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a good book if you like rocker books, and don't mind sex and drugs. Although, there wasn't a lot of music or typical rock star stuff. Which is a good thing! The story was fresh and not something I've read before. I wish the story was longer and had a little bit more "meat" to it. I think that would make it more memorable.
All in all, I did enjoy reading this book. If you're pressed for time, or don't want to commit to a lengthy book, then this one would be a good option.
North is not my usual type of reading but I was impressed by Ms. Allen's writing. She took a story line that is part of today's life style and told it without embellishment. This is a short story but she did it well.

Yes North is in a rock band, but the story really had nothing to do about said band. This pretty short and to the point. A lot of drama, and a little sex.
Great story about a rocker who was on the run from his dealer and ended up in rehab. Luckily for him, he meets Mary. Can't wait to read about Nick now!
