Title: Traitors Unleashed - Book 2 of the Traitors trilogy
Author: M M Justine
Length: 318 pages
Publisher: Authorhouse
Genre: Medical, Fiction, Action
My Rating: 4/5
Summary:
The book starts from where it ended in Book 1 and started with a funeral just as part 1 of the trilogy. The war between Good and Evil i.e. between Althonat Global and Citaraph gets bigger and better.
My Take:
Would like to thank Booktasters and author for providing me with the copy of this book for reading and reviewing. When the story started with a funeral, I prayed it wasn't of Martina's. Felt sad at the murder of Martinas bodyguards. Absolutely intriguing to read about Martina's near death experience where she experiences meeting her deceased parents and the message that she gets from her father.
Just like part 1 of the book, the mystery part is well built throughout in various instances. There were many astonishing revelations in this part as well, especially the part of Leila and Rangors affair and short lived marriage. It is very Heartening to read about Martina emerging as a strong woman entrepreneur. Loved her more in this part.
Jonas proposal is worth going Aww and their grand engagement was marvellous. When Martina's instincts told her to say no to Jonas, I wished she had listened to it. The narrations of the effect their brief break-up was superbly portrayed. The mystery revolving Tords identity is interesting.
It doesn't matter how colossal the task is. Even the Titanic sank.
In the first part the war was certain Rensblad and Life Vaccine, but in this part there is another life threatening drug surfaces and so does another mysterious company. The revelation of the mysterious company will be a part of third instalment of the trilogy which will release in January (Am eagerly waiting for the third part).
The part of Annas discovery by Grenzken and her ultimate abduction gave some adrenaline rush moments. It was sickening to see the antogonists plan kidnapping of little Joachim (Martinas son). The condition of Helmut was pitiable and his tragic end was saddening. The reach of evil is huge and how Martina tackles all the problems forms the crux of the story.
The only thing I didn't like in the book was that the transition between two scenes is very abrupt and haphazard. Even some of the chapters ending was abrupt.
Overall I loved the story. What started as a pharmaceutical war in the first installment has a much bigger agenda in this book. Most importantly it's war between Good and Evil which is great. I am looking forward to the third book in the trilogy.
Dear reader, just an advice: as soon as you finish of reading Traitors from inside out, the first book of this trilogy, in following, read Traitors Unleashed, do not wait too much time. These books have a kind of synergy in between them. If you give a huge gap between the two readings, you lost momentum. In Traitors Unleashed the author is more mature as a writer, and the plot become more realistic as well as the characters. Now, Martina must face two enemies in my opinion, the Pharmaceutical Company that formulated and distributed Life Vaccine, and her loneliness. Martina has friends or a staff willing to help her, and they really help her after all, but no one has the same feelings as she related with her company that she inherited from her parents, and at the same time save the humankind, as well as herself. Her enemies try to take advantage of her loneliness, all the time, they struggle to convince her to give up her beliefs as a doctor and an owner and merge companies so reversed in their treatment of their customers. It seems that some people, does not believe that a woman, even a very brilliant one, are able to handle such pressure. She was able to keep her balance after all.
The story picks up immediately where part 1 left off which is good! There is a lot going on here with storylines, but it’s got me intrigued enough to finish out this trilogy. The dialogue seems a little unnatural, but I think that has something to do with translation. The main protagonist, Martina and her fiancé Jonas are a tad bit annoying and their relationship is really weird. It’s almost as if they have some type of toxic, dysfunctional attraction towards one another.
Martina is so caught up in trying to save the world (and jealous of the fact that her ex-husband may be moving on) that she may truly be blind to a traitor closer to home than she thinks. Jonas appears to be mildly obsessed with Martina (and her relationship with her ex-husband….the father of her child) and wants to pretend life is perfect, but is he hiding something? It’s clear that both of them have trust issues and maybe their egos won’t be able to share a common space.
Overall a good story. Looking forward to the final book.
One review said readers would be spellbound by this book. Well if that means you'd have to have a spell put on you so you had to read this trash then fair enough. Poor writing, cliched plot, and big, big NO from me!

*** I received this book in exchange for an honest review ***
Traitors Unleashed is the second book in this series.
Getting into this part was a lot easier for me. On the one hand we had met most characters in book one and on the other I picked it up right after finishing the first. Regardless it took me a while to finish. Here are the three reasons for this:
1. The writing style Between lavish descriptions of scenic views, gardens and room decor I still have a hard time feeling myself inside the story. The constant movement from one location to the other is something I don't like. I prefer to spend at least a few chapters back to back in one place, to feel comfortable coming back there later in the book. Adding to this, I again had trouble keeping up with the leaps in time. Some short ones, of a few days, were indicated. But how we managed to span across almost 9 month I still can't grasp.
2. Martina The main character is a strong, determined woman, I don't doubt that. And even though she is fighting for humanity and truth, I can't see her as a good person. She barely spends time with her son, which makes it, when she talks about how much she loves or misses him, unbelievable. To me, she protects him, like she wants to protect every other human being. I miss a mothers tenderness, devotion and unending love for her own child. The same is true for her other personal relationships. Her jealous ex-husband who wants her back, is unable to talk to her about their son or anything else that truly matters, but we are supposed to think he still loves her. Martina only seems irritated by him like he is a small child. Her boyfriend/fiance tries to protect and support her, yet she only trusts and relies on him, when she cracks in her strength and we get one of the very few glimpses inside her true feelings. For the most part they talk work, fight or have sex. This is not a healthy relationship I can support or even believe as a reader.
3. Realism While I felt the events in book one were something I could see happening in real life, this doesn't sit true for book two. It's just too much. Corruption, espionage, kidnapping, rape, drugging, bribery, arson, attempted murder, framing others... I'm not naive, I know there is a lot of this out there and it happens every day. But I have a hard time with all of this happening around one single woman over the span of a few month.
Over all I enjoyed Traitors Unleashed more than the first book in the series. It was an easier read and I think I want to finish this series to see where it ends. For me it's more a 3.5 star book, which would have been 4 stars, if id hadn't been for the above mentioned things.
Because of Booktasters, I was lucky enough to recieve book 2 from the author in exchange for an honest review. So, I managed to jump over the wait time that an author takes from book 1 to book 2 because book 2 had already been written which for me was great because I realized book 2 was the straight continuation of book 1. I really like the main character Martina, because I was able to realte in many aspects to her which made her come to life even more which allowed me to empathize with her struggles. She mighy come off as cold and heartless towards how she treats her son (or pretty much anyone) but any mother would want the best for their child and Martina is no exception to that. She understands that she can only be one thing, a hard working business woman or a kind and devoted mother. She cant be both, she can never be both. And that pains her so she digs even more into her work and gives off that icy exterior. I feel bad for her because it seems as if she's doing great in her work but doing a terrible job with the relationships she builds with other people, ironically the people she cares for the most. I dont know how many more books the author plans to write in this story but I feel like this book could have been divided in 2 just because of the amount of themes that were seen in the book. I think they could have been explained a bit more which would have caused it to probably be a bit of a slower read but it would have unpacked better because sometimes I felt like it could have been explained more, not necessarily better, but more, but other than that I think that the author's writing style is undeniably gifted and the suspense made me want to continue reading to find out more and more answers.
To me it's really interesting how authors like M.M. decide to take women and turn them into messianic archetypes because thats how it felt too, it really felt as if the fate of the world was in Martina's fingertips.she was much more than just a strong female protagonist. I hope MM turns this into a series instead of a trilogy.
This book was another fast read! Traitors Unleashed is the second book of the Traitors Trilogy. The first book ended with a massive cliffhanger, and you don’t know what happened to Martina, the protagonist. When this second book started with a funeral, I thought, oh no! They can’t kill Martina off.
While this book had a lot going on, it was not as intense as the first book. The main plotline was between Dr. Martina Strömstedt Edgren and her company’s lifesaving homeopathic drug, Rensblad, and Dr. Steven Rangor’s Life Vaccine drug, which does anything but promote life and health.
Rangor travels around the world to many countries promoting the Life Vaccine as a wonder drug and convinces leaders across the globe to mandate this vaccine for infants to the elderly. These world leaders don’t suspect that the misnamed Life Vaccine is the harbinger of death, disease, and deformity – designed solely to cull the world population and make the rich, richer, and the recipients of Life Vaccine; slaves. Life Vaccine kills, sterilizes, and for those who can still procreate, Life Vaccine breeds deformed infants into being.
Martina’s Rensblad is a natural herbal drug formulated to cure many diseases – most notably, Life Vaccine-induced diseases. This truth puts her in a dangerous position with the forces behind Life Vaccine.
Traitors Unleashed is a continuation of a road trip of good versus evil. At one point, Martina discovers that her fiancé, Jonas, worked for the company that makes Life Vaccine. She is pregnant with his child, which makes it even more stressful for her. Could he be a traitor?
I’m excited to read the third book of the trilogy to see how it all ends. Thank you, Booktasters and MM Justine, for providing me with an ARC of this book. This second book of the trilogy gets a big 4.75 stars. I liked the first book a smidgeon better and reflected it with the star rating.
The second in the Traitors Trilogy, “Traitors Unleashed” is another smartly paced page-turner from M.M. Justine focusing on two dueling global medical companies based in Sweden, one trying to prune the world’s population to preserve resources for the world’s elite, the other trying to prevent that from happening while fending off endless legal and personal attacks.
The book’s protagonist, superwoman Martina Strömstedt Edgren, leads the latter company, which specializes in natural remedies. In the first book, she was forced to step into the leadership role after her father and mother died in an automobile crash, with foul play suspected.
“Traitors Unleashed” picks up immediately after the events of “Traitors from the Inside Out.” Martina spends the first few chapters of the book recovering from a near tragedy, then spends the rest of it dealing with a litany of drama, stresses and near-fatal incidents.
The underlying cause of everything, as before, is her biggest competitor, insistent on injecting huge segments of the global population with the ironically named Life-Vaccine, which does the opposite of what its name implies. There are court cases, hospital rescues, kidnapping attempts, brushes with powerful enemies in government and much more. And through all that, Martina navigates a relationship with a doctor who may have some skeletons in the closet.
Things look bleak for Martina and her company throughout much of "Traitors Unleashed." The tide turns a bit by the end. The second book ends on a happy note, quite unlike the first one.
But it’s a trilogy, so trouble is certainly around the corner.
☄️Hey folks, so here is the review of Book 2: Traitors Unleashed of the series Traitors Trilogy. I have reviewed Book 1: Traitors from Inside Out of this series, you can check it out on my profile, if you haven't checked it yet. After reading Book 1, I was excited to read Book 2 as well as the storyline is too gripping and will be keep you glued throughout.
☄️The war among the Alhonat Global and Citaraph has taken a bigger form and Martina has a responsibility to save the mankind. The earth spins out of control and at every hour, there was a throbbing force that pervaded the universe with a feverish pace drifting here and there destroying lives. People were hoping that Martina would show up and stand as a shield for humanity. What if Martina dies? The humanity will cease to exist.
I'll leave it to you to find out if Martina survives to save the mankind or all the hopes get shattered?
☄️The book, undoubtedly is full of twists and turns and a spectacular thriller. The characters are really influential and characterization is descriptive. As I mentioned it before as well, the author's writing style is pretty impressive and the suspense she has built up makes the story much exciting. I am now excited to read the Book 3 of the series and eager to know how the story proceeds. I'd recommed you all to pick this series up and riffle through it.
The author Justine had me on edge throughout. The story and the writing has taken an upturn in this sequel. We left the first part in a tizzy thinking that Martina had died in the accident. It was a relief to know that she survived and is on her feet.
In this part, Martina has emerged as a strong character fully aware of what she knows to be right and the path she must take. It was a great read as tales of powerful female protagonists go. The decisions she has to make on personal and professional levels are tough but she makes them with conviction.
Her struggle with the father of her son Joachim, are offset by the support she is getting from Jonas. The journey of their relationship inspite of her inability to trust easily is actually exciting to witness. Will they come out intact, is the question?
The world has fallen prey to the drugs manufactured by Rangor and his team. Martina and the Althonat Global staff must work full steam to combat the dangers posed by this drug to civilisation itself. As they do that, Martina must also fight a claimant to the drug formulated by her father. The biggest problem in that is the hidden identity of this person. She must spend time and resources now to identify this new threat to her existence.
All the various threads are knit well together and I found myself sitting on edge. I am waiting eagerly to read the next part to unravel their unknown combatant.
I must thank the author MM Justine and Booktasters who gave me a copy of the book to read in exchange for a review.
**I received a copy of this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review**
I liked this book much better than the first one. I found Martina to be quite aggravating in the first book, but she grew on me a bit in this one.
The story arc is nicely done - there is enough "review" from the previous book that you can easily remember how things happened there before going into the next part of the story. The relationship stuff is a bit distracting at times, but is well written and helps keep the text light hearted in places.
While this is completely a work of fiction, I do believe the author has tapped into the "ugly side" of humanity very well - it's entirely plausible that someone (or a group of someone's) might try to do something like this. That in and of itself is terrifying to contemplate but the author approaches the topic so well that you can't help but keep reading. It's sort of like watching a train wreck - you know the end result is going to be a disaster but you can't look away because you have to see it to believe it. That's how I felt about this story; it's shocking to think people would do something like this and behave in these ways, but you also can't help but keep going because you have to know what they are going to do next.
"Traitors Unleashed" by MM Justine is a powerful and intense continuation of The Traitors Trilogy. The story takes readers deeper into a chaotic world where dark forces are rising stronger than ever. The evil cabal is using fear and power to force people into dangerous treatments, pushing humanity to the edge. The tension builds with every chapter, keeping readers on high alert. The stakes are higher, and the danger feels real.
Martina stands at the center of this battle, and her survival becomes the last hope for mankind. As the evil spreads and lives are destroyed, the world looks to Martina as a symbol of courage and resistance. Her fight is not just physical—it’s also emotional and spiritual. The book beautifully captures the pain, strength, and determination of one woman against an empire of cruelty. It’s a gripping and emotional journey.
MM Justine has created a thrilling sequel filled with suspense, heart, and urgency. The fast pace, strong emotions, and meaningful message make it a truly unforgettable read. Readers who enjoy dystopian thrillers, strong female leads, and stories that make you think will love this book.
This series just keeps getting better. If you think you've got it all figured out in the first book, then this sequel will absolutely catch you by surprise. I just love how the medical conspiracy plays out in this trilogy. The horrific reality makes my skin crawl and sort of challenges my already thinning faith in humanity. History has been witness to how cruel and sinister mankind can be, and this novel stretches it out even more in a scintillating and thought-provoking manner.
Martina's character development shone through in this novel. The traitors and the subsequent betrayals shook her but shaped her at the same time. She may have appeared strong and independent but at her core, she's as much human as the rest of us, vulnerable and sentimental. But it wasn't just Martina whose growth took center stage. Every other character shed light to different facets of humanity, serving both as an inspiration and a lesson in a world riddled with a grim reality of treachery and subterfuge.
Definitely looking forward to the gripping conclusion to this trilogy!
The second book in the Traitors from Inside Out trilogy was amazing, just like the first one! Full of tension and conflict, the stakes have risen as the fight between Martina, her company, and the evil Citaraph go head to head. The plot is action-filled, and every chapter is exciting to read. The characters are developed even more, and the plot between the two books connects and flows well. If you plan to start this trilogy, I would definitely recommend starting this book almost immediately after finishing the first one because it starts right after the last chapter of the first book.
Martina is still one of my favorite protagonists. I love how she stands up for herself and her beliefs. She doesn't let anyone get in her way and is willing to take matters into her own hands when things don't go how she wants them to. I'm on her side all of the way!
I have no complaints about this book. I definitely plan to read the third book in order to finish the trilogy and finally find out what happens to Martina!
This is the second book in the Traitors series by MM Justine. It picks up a few days after the end of the previous book, Traitors From Inside Out, with no loss of suspense.
Althonat, a holistic medical organization that provides care through clinics, hospitals and the production of natural medicines all around the world, is researching increasing waves of illness. Horrible mutations and deaths are occurring in astonomic numbers across the globe, but especially in the poorest countries.
Citaraph, an unscrupulous rival company, has convinced many governments to mandate inoculation with Life-Vaccine. However, death and disease follow all who receive it. The world is destabilizing and Althonat needs to move quickly to avoid catastrophy.
Suspense and intrigue from beginning to end makes Traitors Unleashed a captivating read. I'm eagerly looking forward to the next book in this series.
After the events of Traitos from the Inside Out, and the very worrying cliffhanger it left readers with, Traitors Unleashed starts with a scene more worrying still, I for one, got to wonder whatever had happened to some dearly beloved characters. It was a surprise to see Martina, in the aftermath of a tragedy, with the weight of the world on her shoulders and the very effects of everything she went through, so it could be expected to see an change from a secure, self sufficient woman, to someone who doesn't really know how to handle the world around her, fearing for her safety and that of those around her, juggling life and love, all that while trying to save the world. In my opinion, characters really evolved in this book, the situation really reaches a breaking point in which each side has to enter open war. An excelent second part to a gripping series.
When I thought the first book in this trilogy was exceptionally written and the ending so mysterious, it left me wanting to read more. I thought it couldn't get better than this but am glad the author proved me wrong. Not only is the second part even more exciting, it has only left me thirsting to read the final part of the trilogy to find out the finale of this book. I am so glad I chose to read this book. It was like am living a journey filled with thrill, fear, excitement, nausea, love, anger and so many thriving emotions all at the same time along with the female protagonist, Martina Stromstedt Edgren. Amazing plot, exceptionally written and mind boggling twists. This is the kind of book that stays with you. Kudos to the author M. M. Justine
I was quite curious about the assignment that Martina Stromstedt Edgren gave to Leila; and as to who Josef Fagerlind is. It appeared as if Stellan Stromstedt had developed some sort of conscience or having second thoughts; whereas I got the idea that Tord Stenbeck had some resentment as well as enny, where he would go to any lengths to destroy those he has his mind set on. There were the occasional moments where some of the characters seemed a little bit too calm in some situations; and some scenes that could have benefited with a little bit more detail - though this book definitely had a decent ending. I got a copy in exchange for an honest review.
The middle book of any trilogy is usually when problems ratchet up and it seems there is no end in sight. Our heroine is finding trouble at every turn. Someone is suing her from the Rensblad formula, her dad evidently worked and gave money to a criminal, her son is being forced to take Life-Vaccine and even the police seem to be organized against her. She does have a steely nerve and people she loves and who love her in turn. She is also on the side of compassion and has loads of the milk of human kindness. She is able to take the small successes and keep pushing forward. In this book the war against Citaraph and Life Vaccine moves into a much more consequential phase and Martina is not sure who to trust. Even Jonas is suspect. I will leave it to you to see who is friend and who is foe. Hang on for a very tumultuous ride.
The story is in continuation to the first one , the war among the Alhonat Global and Citaraph gets more bigger .Martina has the responsibility on her shoulders to save the mankind on one hand and on the other side is company she inherited from her parents . She has to face her two biggest enemies , the pharmaceutical Company and another is her loneliness . The enemy company tries to convince her to give up her ownership. The characters are really influential and characterization is descriptive . Martina’s character has been my favourite from both the books . It was an adventurous ride and I am eagerly waiting to go with the third part in the series .
Having read the first book in the Traitors trilogy, I was pleased to see the return of Martina and the other characters from the first book.
I felt like there was a lot happening, and I quickly became invested and couldn't stop, turning the pages. I also realised that something about the author's writing style reminded me of Steig Larsson, so maybe fans of his would enjoy these books.
3.5 Stars. Part II in the saga. Martina is still somewhat stiff as a character and Rangor is something of a mustache-twirling villain but the good guys win and I feel as though there might even be a Part III.
It did take me a bit to get into the book, some of the character names were a bit confusing at first. Once I got into the book it was a page turner. Lots of twist and turns and full of suspense. I have read other books by this author, definitely worth the read!
Traitors Unleashed, is a gripping sequel to Traitors From Inside Out. Similar to the first book, it's written in third person. The story continues after the huge cliffhanger that left me anxious and eager for more. Martina faces new struggles, storms and traitors. However, her impulsive and dynamic nature guides her through all these terrors rushing towards her. The author writes in splendid words the feelings, horrors and fears of every character. The narrative point of view helps one to understand the thoughts of every character and does not focus on just one. This helps to trace out the evil and good in all of them. The language is exquisite and easy to comprehend. At every corner there is a thriller lurking in the dark, waiting to pounce. It is a thought-provoking novel; it stays with you, makes you wonder about the world. It is purely fiction, though it connects with the reader while they ponder upon the cruelty of society. Martina is a strong willed, intelligent woman, she has a way of getting what she wants, and she is ambitious. She is willing to gamble everything just for the sake of humanity. She is always attempting to make her departed father proud. Martina finds herself worrying about herself and her loved ones. Martina is devoted to the cause and most of the times she forgets about her personal life and her health. This is an important problem for every working woman out there and I believe the author highlights the importance of balancing both personal life and work.
Her enemies are always finding a way to tackle her though even after several low acts from Citagraph; she is not averted from her path. This leads to Citagraph shivering in fear, wondering how one woman is constantly fighting to demolish all the traitors unleashed.
Here again finishing another amazingly well written book from the trilogy of an amazing Author. M.M Justine has yet again took me in another adventure, enjoying every part of the story with the main chatacter, Martina that I grew to love and respect for her ongoing fights against the evil of mankind and her priceless effort to speak for the underprivileged and be their common voice against the major issue that threatens their whole existence. Another book that I couldn't stop reading and had to literally force myself to go to bed and promise myself to keep reading it in the morning, made me once again eager to find out more in the next book ESPECIALLY how it ended with the dilemma that made Martina's life even more complicated that led her to question her own judgment. Looking forward to know how this whole story ends ! As I once said, picking these books will NOT disappoint you !
This book follows right where Traitors from Inside Out stopped, being Martina recovering from a car accident, our was it intempted murder? Het fight to save humanity from dangerous treatments, which the people are forced to accept due to governmental pressure, continues and turns every time more nasty, making her question herself on every level of her life. Well she be able to stop her evil rivals and save humanity and her family? The story's plot is very well developed, add are the characters, which are described very detailed including their inner struggles in order to figure out how to solve the problems they're facing.
Second part of Traitor’s series. Keeps the line of the first (Traitor from inside out), the professional (and main) plot, together with the romantic one, remain tense, but there are some twists that left me bewildered. Although the characters are well constructed there are some scenes where the reactions / dialogues do not match or are completely unrealistic. It is getting a bit repetitive, and again I found the final too abrupt, but anyway I like it and being a 3 books series, I will read the third when ready (I hope).
