"The moment I met her, my life changed. Everything I saw, everything I heard, everything I felt, all the scenery around me... started to take on colour."

Without the cat, it was sad enough... but then it got even sadder. These characters' travels are a lovely type of grief, but it's still misery. And then there's the beauty! And my heart is shattered. This volume, in particular, was visually stunning. The flow of the illustrations and the placement of the figures on each page. I'm really blown away by the attention to detail. I know exactly where it's headed. It's too late.

You might like to wander through a few artistic journals — they’re full of sparks and surprises.

The end is nigh, so this penultimate volume spends much of its time giving closure to a couple of the major side characters before amping up the stakes in the medical drama of another character. I'm looking forward to the finale.

This was sad enough without the cat . . . then it became even sadder. :( The journeys of these characters are a beautiful kind of sadness—but it's still sadness. One more volume to go . . .

Review for the entire series.

Naoshi Arakawa's Your Lie in April is a finely crafted work that will draw a steady stream of emotion from the barren crust of a calcified heart. It is a tearjerker, but it's actually a well-balanced work of humor, drama, and romance. At its heart, this story is a tragedy and a love story as well. It is a love story about life; and the tears it brings, whether from joy, sorrow, or delight.

I recommend you read this story alongside the musical accompaniment it suggests in its notes. It will increase your enjoyment by tenfold.

Throughout this volume, there were nice happy moments... and then the ending happened😭😭😭 It was a bad idea to read this at night, now I can't stop crying. If you have read this volume, you might think you know why, but that's only part of it, I'll explain in a bit.

I don't know if the thing I knew was going to happen happened at the end of this chapter or if that was just a false alarm.

NOW ONTO A SPOILER
SPOILER WARNING!!!

Surprisingly, the scene with Kaori at the end wasn't the saddest part for me, no, it was that black cat we saw throughout series dying after being run over by a truck. That was so unexpected and I have a kitty too (last month we were so scared he was going to die because he ate a rubber band so I'm even more emotional because of that scare) and that's what made me just let the tears out, before I was trying to hold back and then the vet said the cat is dead and I just lost it😭😭😭

Some might say I'm being too sensitive over a fictional cat that only appears in a few scenes, but I don't think I'm being too sensitive and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who saw it as a character and even without that, I just love cats, so of course I'm going to be sad.

SPOILER END!!!

Just one more volume left and then the Six Person Etude novel.

Agh! This volume was all about confessions.. Tsubaki to Kousei, Kousei to Watari..
And death flag is up! I am not sure Kaori will be okay again... and that sucks..
I hope Kousei will be okay, because it breaks my heart to see him cry.. (

Gearing up to the finale, setting up the stakes. Even more worrisome things with Kaori, and Kosei isn't working hard enough. I'm not quite sure what Arakawa was intending to convey with the cat at the end.

You have a heart, you just got really good at hiding it. So good that even you can't find it.

I just got a msg on my phone that the last volume is out for delivery, just in time for me to sob over this series and these characters bc I can see what's coming and I am not ready.

Sigo sin saber como calificar este tomo exactamente. Me encanta pero al mismo tiempo hay algo (tal vez un mínimo detalle) que no puedo explicar que no me termina de convencer al 100%.
Es como que me transmite muchos sentimientos.

This volume was an important pillar in this series, I believe. This volume contains several different storylines. The main storyline is Kosei being pushed forward by Kaori and his competitors. We get to see the feelings of his rivals, Takeshi and Emi, and how far they've come along all together. It is pointed out that they weren't born into greatness, but worked and pushed to be better than others. We see Takeshi's background this time and see how he came about the piano and what it is that keeps pushing him into it. The artwork in the musical scenes is beautifully displayed and effective. You can really see the surprise on the audience's face when the music changes or something dramatic happens in the song. It feels like watching a performance.
Another storyline before the end was a confession. A long-awaited confession that finally starts to move forward. I'm not the biggest fan of this excursion from the plot, but it's not my least favorite. I love getting into the nitty gritty feelings of friends. Watari is much to chill to feel like anything more than a filler. Tsubaki, however, is colorful and full of life. Everyone else in her life, it seems, is moving on with their lives and she feels like she's stuck. This confession is what finally moves her back into her spot, not being held back.
Your Lie in April continues to be an emotional piece and it draws closer and closer to the end. I believe this series has developed positively in its connections with others but I just think some of it is cliche. But who doesn't like a little bit of cliche?
This volume left off in a cliffhanger that felt draining. I'm excited to read what happens next, but I'm not too hopeful.

Dai!

Manca un solo volume, più la cosa... Soobie, sei davvero pronta a dire addio a questa serie?

My heart 🥹. It's coming to the end, and I'm not ready for it 😭 . Kosei is finally starting to get a bit more confident and put himself out there, and then he sees the worst possible thing there is to see. Tsubaki is annoying me a little. I feel like she's being too harsh to Kosei cause he doesn't feel like that for her, and she can tell, but I'm happy she's somewhat told him she likes him... but the kick was unnecessary.

Kosei with his rivals sitting on the floor eating egg salad sandwiches. This is what I'm taking away from this book because it's a beautiful image and foreshadows the relationship these three will have in the years to come. So perfect, how each of these musicians find their voice. I'm so rooting for everyone, and hate so much the ending I see coming. This story hurts and heals in equal portions, beautiful and funny and sad.

I must press on!

This series is great, I love the characters, the plot, the graphics.
That being said for some reason this series is in the adult graphic novels section at my library and I'm really not seeing anything to justify that. Not only are the kids "middle schoolers" of about 14, but the content does not seem more than PG rated.
Can't wait for the final installment.

I’m not ready to finish this series. Romantic tensions fly and rivalry becomes stronger. Tsubaki is really getting on my nerves. I hate her behavior towards Kosei. Like, girl. Stop acting “violent” towards him. It’s not going to get the message across and he isn’t going to have any returned feelings the you act. 🙄

Ugh! Still I keep coming back to this series!

I feel like the ending that has been hinted at the entire time is coming in strong. I would have rated this higher but I honestly didn’t like the ending with the cat. It felt heavy handed from a story telling. But I did like his honesty with his friends about his feelings. I don’t feel like the ending is gonna be a surprise but on to the next.

I’ve just finished this penultimate volume, and I’m not ready for it to end. While this wasn’t my favourite of the eleven, like every volume before it, this one’s story has its place. As some of the characters’ arcs were wrapped up, room has been left for a big finale with the core characters. I can’t wait!
