For a book with complete in its title, the reader gets a crappy generic book. Spending some time, far less than reading this junk, on dpreview.com will bring far more information and skill.

And the author is an unintelligent individual doing an essay on blog post read a decade ago. Take this example:

> Digital compact cameras can be found in any price class

Meaning what? That I can buy a compact camera for the same price as a Space X rocket? No. That only means compact cameras comes in prices that compact cameras come. And if someone will care to remove all the filler from this book, the contents will be shorter and less interesting than a decent blog post.

I'm not new to photography, but I am new to this kind of photography. I found that this book was pitched exactly right for me. It went into detail about the specialist equipment, it alerted me to the need to consider various lighting configurations and it meant that I don't need to guess what I might need.

I think this book could save me hundreds of pounds in expenditure on lenses, lighting and equipment that don't deliver what I was hoping for.

As well as exploring equipment, the author features interviews with several highly respected and experienced photographers who talk in detail about how they bring about the amazing shots featured throughout the book.

It inspires, engages and informs. It's a great read in it's own right and delivers as much as you could expect from a work of non-fiction.

All right, so this isn't the kind of book I would normally read, but now that I've decided to explore the world around me through a camera lens, I better read up on a thing or two.

For someone who is interested in Macro photography - this is the book to read. It goes into all vital topics, from what gear to use to the art of lighting your scene. If you're new to macro, then I'd definitely recommend this book.
