Cerise is dead. So she explains to in a message to an old lover. She tells of a chance encounter with a strange chef and the world’s most inappropriate proposal, of an ancient arcane blade and a secret underground of night markets and ritual sex, and of her final orgiastic demise.
But even in death, her story isn't over, and Cerise makes a final plea for love.
"The Red Dagger" is a short occult mystery about the rapture of lust and is the second course of Feast of Shadows
The Red Dagger (The Heretic Arcanum #2) is an excellent short story--even better than book one of the series. Creative, imaginative, creepy and compelling, this story could be called "Love Letter from a Phoenix." Now, I'm off to read book #3.
Agh. So good. Book 2 dives deeper into the arcane underbelly of our world as Etude fights to help a young woman who doesn't even realize she's become part of his world. All the tiny details of this hidden world, so clearly written, are a delight, but it's also the story of good holding back the forces of evil that resonates with me.
