Cozy Mystery Amber Dearing is living her dream - she's finally the owner of her own brand new ice cream shop and she's got the chance to make it a huge success. Everything is riding on the Cow & Moon launch going as planned. With all of Amber's life savings poured into the business she has no plan B. When, on the day of the official launch, a women drops dead in the middle of store, Amber is not only in danger of losing her business - she is a prime suspect.
Taking matters into her own hands, Amber decides to investigate the case herself. She needs to clear her own name, and she needs to save the business she has worked so hard to start. When she meets Ryan, the cute barista/manager of a competitor's store, Amber really has to put her instincts to the test. Could Ryan be the one to blame, or is Amber not seeing what is right in front of her nose?
Short story mystery based in an ice cream shop. Far too short a story - would love to see it as a whole book or even turned into a series. Main character needs to be developed more but that would happen in a book.
Amber has just opened a gelato shop but on the first day a customer dies right there in the shop and Amber is the main suspect. She starts retracing the woman's steps to try to find what really happened so she can clear her name.
If you read the cozy mystery genre then you will have an idea of what to expect. It's a fun and fluffy read, and due to its short length it's rather simple, but that's not a bad thing. I think it's enjoyable for someone who likes to read this genre.
The writing itself has a couple of errors but for me I was still able to enjoy the mystery.
I feel like the author has potential and its a short, fun mini cozy mystery for the right reader.
This is just one title in the Lovy Books Murdered by Sweets kindle book I bought. I didn't realize it was 3 short stories in one and I can't find any other way to put it here other than by one of the stories.
As I said the stories are short, I think this one was only 75 pages, and to the point - introduce a few characters, kill off one of them, blame the wrong person, and then solve it - tada. They aren't the best written stories, but I do like a no-nonsense approach to writing, no flowery unnecessary words and no unrequited, miserable love story to tell.
All in all I enjoyed reading them and if you ever need a quick read, these stories are for you.
The version I read included two short stories in addition to Scoop Away: Crafty Murder and Spicy Murder.
Scoop Away, of course, is about Cow & Moon, a newly opened ice cream shoppe that is shut down on its first day by a death...was it death by ice cream? Amber Dearing, the owner, will find out with the help of her assistant June and maybe the cute barista down the street if she's lucky and he's not the murderer himself.
Crafty Murder starts at a craft competition, where Emmaline has entered her delicious cake and the mayor's wife entered one of her famous quilts...oh, and a new entrant entered a lovely sculpture that even Emmaline votes for! Just after James, the sculptor, wins, he's murdered and as runner-up, Emmaline is the prime suspect. Can she clear her name in time, or is that beyond her capabilities? And what's the deal with her neighbor?
Spicy Murder is a quick story about a professor/TV star who dies right in Sandy Pepper's bakery! Sandy sleuths around while her bakery is shut down and may find more danger than answers.
Amber is having the grand opening of her Ice Cream Shop and hasn’t had a break. Just as she sits down to eat a bite, a customer falls to the ground dead. Not the best way to celebrate a grand opening. Knowing that she is not at fault and that if she doesn’t clear her name and that of her store fast, she will be put out of business before it even gets going Amber decides to investigate the murder. This is a good quick read. Nice twist when you discover who it was and why. I have enjoyed these quick stories.

Another cute mystery from a sweet author who always adds some fun and excitement to the short stories. This time Amber has just opened the Cow and Moon ice cream shop when on the first day a customer dies in her shop after eating ice cream.Amber has to find out what really happened and the fun begins. This author's short stories are fun, light hearted reads that will have readers smiling as they try to figure out who the killer is before the truth is told in the story,
Well that was a plot twist. I really like how misleading the author is by giving you all the clues to one person but then it ends up being someone totally different. It's like a game almost. I enjoy it.
