This book is really good. It will help you learn new expressions, words, grammatical structures and it will also help you with reading Korean newspapers in general. I recommend it to anyone who is currently studying Korean (Intermediate level).
Talk To Me In Korean is well-known among the Korean learning community for its high quality language learning materials. This book is no exception. This is a collection of 50 newspaper articles, each from the Korean press, reporting on a variety of topics.
The articles are generally arranged in order of difficulty and length. None of the articles are extremely long, though 2 or 3 at the end of the book exceed a page. The authors have provided a sentence-by-sentence English translation that is quite accurate, though the English grammar suffers a bit. There are also short interlinear definitions of difficult words in each article. Finally, each chapter ends with a few short exercises.
Thankfully, Talk To Me In Korean also provides mp3 files of these articles being read aloud for free on its website. This is excellent practice for those who want to learn how to understand Korean newscasts. The articles are read at a brisk pace and with professional tone and enunciation. It really is an impressive achievement, taking an otherwise good book and turning it into an absolute must-buy for students.
I've got no complaints here at all. The words are accurate, the articles are short yet engaging, and I learned a lot by going through this book.
