As far as sophomore books go, this one has me at odds. The domesticity and good feels from at least half of this had me pretty much enjoying it. The last half however had me furiously page flipping past the bad feels. To such end I'm not even sure I'm wanting to dive into the last in the series. But I'm loyal to a fault so I probably will... Sigh.
Still burning over the first book I just had to get myself the second in the series and apparently couldn't pause till i finished. Now this book wasn't as enthralling as its predecessor, less violence, less action, pretty domestic when compared to its predecessor, still funny and we still have bog friend coming by. But as a whole, an appreciated read.
Wow, just wow. The roller coaster ride that this story is, with a love story so heart wrenching in the middle of it. I'm still trying to catch my breath from its cliff hanger ending, and so thankful I came accross this now when the 3rd book is done and ready for me to delve into. This book isn't just a 5, it's at least a 10.
This is a phenomenal story. Retribution is nearly as good as Redemption and is, for the most part, a far gentler read. Angel and Ice try to build a life together in Canada but constantly looming over them is Ice's past. With both the mob and the police after Ice, you just know there are easy solutions in their future.
The characters are easy to like, Angel especially because her past and actions are justifiable. Ice is much more complicated because her actions are not as easily justifiable or condoned. I think it takes some real skill to get readers to root for a character who is outside the law.
I'm looking forward to the third installment but I think I'll read some light fluff in between.
Saying I loved Retribution is hard. It’s a great read with great characters and a plot that never rests. But the ending blew me away. I actually only skimmed it the first time. I had to wait a few days to go back and read it enough to get the details. It broke my heart. The lesson here? You think your life is hard? Try being an excon on the lamb with no money in a different country. How far would go to protect someone you love?
Not quite as great as the first, but still very, very good. Ice and Angel share one of the most beautiful connections I've ever read about. There wasn't as much action as in "Redemption", especially in the first three quarters, but the ending makes me thinks that that won't be the case for the last book. I can't wait to read it, but I'm also afraid to since I'm quite certain there'll be lots of angst and tension. Oh well, I'll do it when I've gathered my courage.
4.25 stars. I just love Ice and Angel so much. The second book in the ice and angel series was amazing but the first book is still my favorite. This book was more domesticated in a way so there was a little less action sprinkled throughout the book. However, I still enjoyed it so much and have so much love for this series!
All I can say is that I can't wait for book 3. This series has had me up all night having to finish reading it. I even purchased this book as a pre order something I never do.
This Series is Part of my all time top 10 Novels. A Must Read. Prepare yourself for a healthy block of time. You will not want to put the book down or stop until the series is completed!
