Napoleon's Eighty Days

Rate this book
The book tells the story of the coup d'etat by which Napoleon Bonaparte seized power in France, making himself First Consul and dictator, in effect, and overthrowing the Directory and the French Revolution. He would shortly make himself Emperor, but that is outside this story. Napoleon, whose campaign in Egypt was clearly doomed, sailed for France on August 23, 1799. Napoleon's new constitution took effect on December 25, 1799. The coup was over, and successful. This book covers what happened in between.
